The Earlier Restoration Expectations of Second Zechariah: An Intertextual Analysis of Zechariah 9-1 0Lee, Suk Y. January 2012 (has links)
This dissertation conducts an in-depth study on the ideas about future salvation in
Zech 9-10, analyzing the earlier restoration expectations in Second Zechariah. Because
of the allusive character of the text, the methodology used in this project is intertextual
analysis. We examine the content of Zech 9-10, looking for intertextual markers in the
text, with distinctive words/phrases as the starting point. Having established the
intertexts, we investigate the sources and their contexts, analyzing how the intertexts are
used in the new context of the host and exploring how the antecedents shape the reading
of the later text. Finally, we delineate the restoration themes in Zech 9-10 in light of its
dialogue with its textual web of allusions.
This dissertation argues that Zech 9-10 leverages earlier biblical material in order
to express its view on restoration, which serves as a lens for the prophetic community in
Yehud to make sense of their troubled world in the early Persian period, ca. 440 B.C.
These two chapters envision the return of Yahweh who inaugurates the new age,
ushering in prosperity and blessings. The earlier restoration expectations of Second
Zechariah anticipate the formation of an ideal remnant settling in an ideal homeland,
with Yahweh as king and David as vice-regent, reigning in Zion. The new commonwealth is not only a united society but also a cosmic one, with Judah, Ephraim,
and the nations living together in peace.
In expressing its vision, Zech 9-10 shows close affinity with Jeremiah's view on
the restoration of the people (Zech 10) and the renewal of leadership (Zech 10:1-5),
whereas the corpus adheres to Ezekiel's perspective on the return of Yahweh and the
restoration of the land (9:1-8). For the reinstitution of the Davidic dynasty, the
Zecharian text adapts the aspiration of Mic 4-5, affirming the reinstallation of a new
David, though, at the same time, the host text deviates from Ps 72, presenting another
model of kingship. The Isaianic intertexts contribute mainly in the theme of divine
intervention, stressing that the advent of Yahweh will turn around the fortunes of his
people. / Thesis / Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)

The reception of Isaiah 6:9-10 in the New Testament and contemporary Bible interpretationLottering, Anuschka January 2017 (has links)
This study investigates the reception of Isaiah 6:9-10 in the New Testament, in order
to establish whether the interpretation of this authoritative text has remained stable,
or has been altered through many hands and years. Furthermore, the question is
posed, ‘what does this mean (if anything) for contemporary Biblical interpretation?’
It is clear that the New Testament authors (i.e. Mark, Matthew, Luke and John)
employed Isaiah 6:9-10 in different contexts and for different purposes. However, it is
argued that these various interpretations do not violate the original sense of the
verses as they appeared in the context of the book of Isaiah. Instead, it appears that
the New Testament authors have recognized in these verses a resemblance to their
own respective circumstances and have subsequently adapted Isaiah 6:9-10 in
appropriate and relevant ways to their own respective circumstances. This is similar
to what contemporary Bible interpreters do. In the end, it is acknowledged that a
Biblical text needs to be interpreted in light of its original setting, but also in light of new contexts, if we take seriously the fact that the Bible is the living word of God.
Thus, it is recognized that the Biblical text is the product of both human and divine
authorship. As such, the Biblical text has a particular interpretation related to the
specific historical context in which it originated, but the Biblical text also transcends
this context and offers truth that remains relevant for generations to come. / Dissertation (MTh)--University of Pretoria, 2017. / New Testament Studies / MTh / Unrestricted

The Apostle Paul and homosexuality : a socio-historical study / Petrus Hendrik BothaBotha, Petrus Hendrik January 2004 (has links)
Like many other people I have thought about the biblical understanding of homosexuality.
Because of my previous study on sexual purity before marriage and the exegetical work
done on key biblical passages for that study, I thought I understood where the real issues
lay regarding the subject of homosexuality. This study is an attempt to contribute to the
current discussion in the Dutch Reformed Church in South Africa on the topic of
homosexuality.
In bringing this study to its final format I have received the indispensable help of others.
First and foremost I wish to express my gratitude to my promoter, Professor Fika J van
Rensburg. I am indebted to him beyond what mere words could convey in terms of
gratitude. Our academic relationship spans five years and has developed into a warm
friendship. It has been to my matchless benefit to be associated with him. I have profited
much from his biblical knowledge, scholarly experience and overall passion and love for
the Lord Jesus Christ.
I also want to thank Reverend Erlo Stegen of Mission Kwasizabantu for his support and
spiritual guidance. It is very special to be associated with a person who preaches the
Word of God unambiguously and who has given and dedicated his life to Christ and Christ
alone. Through his dedication Mission Kwasizabantu had become a home to the spiritual
homeless and a refuge for the spiritual weary. The Mission has also been my home since
1994.
I would like to express appreciation to Dr Andre van Niekerk and the North-West
University for the financial support to complete this study. It is my prayer that the critical
reader of this thesis will acknowledge that the money was well invested. I also wish to
express my sincere gratitude to my friend, Reverend Frits van der Menve, for proofreading
the manuscript.
A special word of thanks to the personnel of the Ferdinand Postma and Jan Lion Cachet
Libraries for their help and assistance. All my requests were always met with a smile and
helpful attitude. All work done for me was executed in a spirit of kindness and
benevolence.
Lastly, I would like to thank my wife Andra and my son Chris, whose lives are inextricably
bound with my own and who shared in the sacrifices associated with this study. / Thesis (Ph.D. (New Testament))--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2004.

Previous issue date: 2013-06-19 / Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível Superior / Children through the language of the drawing can say whatever they think and at the same time can say anything. While drawing, children would be attached to aesthetic or culturally pre-established standards? Does the act of drawing in children occur free from interference, which simply they draw and give wings to your imagination? To answer these questions it was realized actions with 9/10 years old children in interdisciplinary projects involving the meeting between the cultural heritage of the city in the Parque Buenos Aires with its sculptures, and a long project in which previously actions prepared the children to live experiences near to the works of art that would be seen, without the kids knew earlier, in the exhibition Coleção, Ciência e Arte in the Centro Universitário Maria Antonia/USP (CEUMA). After contact with the exhibition, portfolios and other artistic productions were produced by children. The voices and drawings produced by children during the search showed us more than just marks on paper, points, lines or curves. In the analysis of the records and the children's drawings, with some observations also made visual observations through pictures, is that the wealth of productions can be unveiled and expanded. Developing, encouraging and monitoring the production of drawings we seek to understand how children represent their perceptions. Through the drawings of the children we rediscover the world supposedly known, if we know how to read their processes and productions and listen to them before, during and after their poetic actions.

Úroveň motorických dovedností a pohybové aktivity u dětí školního věku (9-11 let). / The level of motor skills and physical activity in young school-age children (9-11 years).Šorna, Tomáš January 2018 (has links)
Title: The level of motor skills and physical activity in school-age children (9-11 years) Author: Bc.Tomáš Šorna Supervisor: Mgr. Jakub Kokštejn, Ph.D. Objectives: An aim of the work is to find out, in one week of monitoring, a relationship between physical activity of young school-age children and their level of motoric skills with respect to their age. The aim is also to find character of mutual relationships between indicators of physical activity and motoric skills. Methods: The target market of the thesis are pupils of third, fourth and fifth classes (n=73; 10,3 ± 0,8 years) in one of the primary schools in Příbram. In the thesis has been applied method of analysis Actigraph GT3X, which has analysed physical activity and TGMD-2 test (Test of Gross Motor Skills - 2nd edition) to find out needful data of motoric skills. Results: Average figure of moderately to high physical activity exceeded recommended level of physical activity good for health development (70 ± 38,7 min). However, 70% of young pupils reached below-average to low results. Moderately strong relationship (p < 0,01; r = 0,405) has been found out between physical activity (average medium to high intensive physical activity per day) and motoric skills (total performance during TGMD-2 test). Impact of the age has not been found...
