Diplomový projekt - Návrh veřejného prostoru v Českých Budějovicich

Macháčková, Lenka January 2015 (has links)
The diploma thesis focuses on public spaces in České Budějovice, which are evaluated in theoretical part of the work. Various kinds of strategies in development of public spaces in several model cities are presented and options of development of the city in question are considered. Practical part of the work preceedes the overview of several reference examples, which suggest possible options in solution of areas similar to the studied one. The project is further elaboration of the road network proposed in my bachelor thesis, which connects the two main housing estates of the city. In the area of former military training ground the system of wooden paths, which connects places for various activities is projected. The area is planned for people to meet and spend their leisure time.

Zhodnocení revitalizačního zásahu v urbanizované krajině ve vztahu ke krajinnému rázu. / Evaluation of revitalization in urbanized landscape in relation to landscape character.

PÍCHA, Tomáš January 2012 (has links)
This thesis is focused on the evaluation of revitalization in urbanized landscape in relation to landscape character. Specifically to assess the landscape character before the overall revitalization and subsequent evaluate the changes in landscape character after revitalization. For this thesis was selected the natural-landscape park of Vlašim, like a urbanized landscape area. The landscape character was evaluated individually by the natural, cultural and historic characteristics. In this work have also been summarized and described individually stages of revitalization projects and then reassessed individual characteristics of landscape character again. The work premised on a careful exploration of landscape, get the necessary materials and processed some graphic shapes in programme ArcGIS. The final aim was to suggest principles for implementation of revitalization in terms of increasing the value of the landscape character.

The emergence of national parks in Russia : with studies of Pribaikalski and Zabaikalski National Parks in the Lake Baikal region of south-central Siberia

Tripp, Michael William 09 August 2017 (has links)
The recent establishment of an impressive network of national parks within first the Soviet Union and then post-Soviet Russia can be viewed as representative of ongoing shifts in relationships between valuations of nature and of societal organization and empowerment. With dissipation of the country's centralized administrative structures, the designation of national parks has repeatedly been used to support regional claims to territorial autonomy under the auspices of environmental protection. Site selection, however, has been motivated primarily by attachments to the specifics of place and attendant proclamations of self-identity rather than to normative ecological or recreational national park criteria. As a consequence, Russian national parks embrace complex matrices of historical, cultural and natural landscape characteristics reflective of their respective constituencies. Appearing first in the outlying Republics, the national park formation process diffused inwards to the Russian heartland and eastwards into Siberia. This sequential development, not by chance, has mirrored the devolution of Soviet sovereignty and the deconstruction of its empire. Two national parks, Pribaikalski and Zabaikalski in the Lake Baikal region of south-central Siberia, have served as primary research sites for examining the validity of the above concepts and for observing and analyzing the processes involved. To maximize informational and perceptual access and to study site/societal interactions, a variety of constituencies have been incorporated into the study through extensive multitiered participatory roles. At an operational level, these activities have emphasized international agency/NGO consultancies, the development of a park-directed, village-based ecotourism program and the founding of a wider-ranging “Friends of the National Parks Society.” Research results have supported the contention that Russian national parks are primarily a product of regional socio-political forces intent on preserving representative natural/cultural landscapes rather than the result of centralized decision-making processes prioritizing recreation, education, or biodiversity objectives. Given the persistence of societal flux, the sites will continue to be highly susceptible to the influences of stakeholder/constituency interests and empowered individuals. / Graduate

The prevalence of canine distemper virus antibodies in wild carnivores in the Kruger National Park and Marakele Park

Cronwright-Snoeren, Angelique 06 August 2010 (has links)
A description is given of a prevalence study of canine distemper virus antibodies in large carnivores in the Kruger National Park and Marakele National Park in South Africa. The serum-virus neutralization test was used to determine the prevalence of antibodies in different carnivore species in Kruger National Park and Marakele National Park. The species tested included 198 lions, 33 hyenas, 23 wild dogs and a leopard. The results demonstrated a total of 69 (34.8%) positive sera from lions. Moreover, CDV neutralizing antibodies were present in 25 (75.8%) hyena sera, 18 (78.3%) wild dog sera and the serum of one leopard. The results demonstrate that canine distemper virus is present in the Kruger National Park and that removal of the fences between the Kruger National Park and other conservation areas may pose a risk for spreading infectious diseases to susceptible species. Further work would be required to determine the prevalence of CDV in neighbouring regions. Only then risks can be estimated.
