An integral view on leadership and organizational transformation in public sector organizationBaer-Bader, Juulia January 2022 (has links)
In the past decade the extent and the complexity of socio-economic challenges the modernsocieties are facing has grown dramatically. Balancing often on the brink of crisis, these globalchallenges force organizations to overthink their approaches and look for new ways to respond toexternal changes. Thus, research on organizational transformation needs to focus on models thatprovide a big-picture lens, offering holistic and integral solutions to modern challenges. AnIntegral theory makes an important contribution to the research of organizational transformationby suggesting a metatheoretical AQAL model (all-quadrants, all levels) that integrates four-dimensional perspective of objective, interobjective, subjective and intersubjective reality in itsanalysis. The AQAL model is a comprehensive view to the reality, accommodating multipletheoretical perspectives and methodological pluralism. Against this backdrop this master thesisaims to explore an Integral Approach, focusing on leadership and organizational transformationin one public sector organization addressing individual or microlevel perspectives. The keyquestions, which are driving this research are: how do values and worldviews impactorganizational transformation in public sector environment? How can organizational capacity todevelop an agile response to external changes be improved in public sector organizations? Whatrole leadership plays in the process of public sector transformation? The main findings of thiswork suggest that organizational capacity to successfully overcome changes is paired with themind-set of its employees and in particularly leadership. Structural changes introduced due toteleworking and digitalization impact organizations on a deeper level, bringing shifts towardsnew culture of work, re-definition of processes and strategies, resulting in global shifts in thewhole organization. These new practices and emerging new organizational cultures require alsonew models of leadership and new skill-set for leaders, who will need to meet the task of“walking” the organizations through modern challenges.

Previous issue date: 2017-06-28 / This thesis analyzes the relationship between satisfaction with life and acculturation, and the
factors that influence the process of acculturation in immigrants. The proposed hypothesis is
that immigration status moderates the relationship between life satisfaction and acculturation,
so that the closer the immigrant´s status is to citizenship in the new country, the greater the
positive correlation between life satisfaction and acculturation. In the three studies that
compose this research, the dominant characteristics of acculturation were identified at the
personal, biological, systemic, and sociocultural levels, with the objective of creating the
Integral Acculturation Scale (EAI), the first acculturation assessment based on the AQAL
(All Quadrants, All Lines) model, from the American philosopher Ken Wilber´s Integral
Theory. To achieve the proposed objectives and to test the hypothesis, it was necessary to
develop an integral measure of acculturation, and demonstrate its predictive power. The
research was carried out using qualitative-quantitative methodology, and consisted of three
studies: Study 1, the formulation and fulfillment of the quali-quantitative questionnaire, the
“Integral Acculturation Intake”; Study 2, the elaboration of the Integral Acculturation Scale
in the pilot test, and then the application and validation of the proposed scale with an
international sample of 282 participants; and Study 3, the statistical analysis using structural
equation modeling that confirms the hypothesis that the demographic variable “type of
immigration” is a moderator of the relationship between satisfaction with life and level of
acculturation. The intention is for this measure to be a reference to be used internationally as
it continues to be validated with immigrants from cultures not yet explored.
formulação e realização do questionário quali-quantitativo, o “Integral Acculturation Intake”;

Myth, mind, Messiah : exploring the development of the Christian responsibility towards interfaith dialogue from within Ken Wilber's integral hermeneuticsSnyman, Kevin 30 November 2002 (has links)
Interfaith dialogue is no luxury for Christians living in a pluralistic~ effervescent world of intenningling, multi-religious realities. Many Christians take seriously their responsibility towards interfaith dialogue. However, different Christians understand this responsibility in different ways, which often leads to acrimonious accusations of
unchristian dialogical approaches. The question is whether there is any means of ordering and assessing the Christian responsibility towards other religions in a mutually uplifting and increasingly holistic way? Ken Wilber provides an integral, or All-Quadrant, All-Level hermeneutics that may assist us with an answer. All holonswhich means everything in the "Kosmos" - emerge or arise in holarchical fashion. On one level, it is a whole, on the next transcendent level it is a part of the whole. This
process is infinite and is only ever released in One Taste/salvation/Nirvana/the Kingdom of God, or simply unqualifiable Suchness. Wilber provides an integrated methodology for understanding the process by which holons find their release in One Taste. The holon of Christian responsibility towards interfaith dialogue also emerges
through discreet, recognizable stages. Each stage is integrated into the next higher level. The lower levels are more fundamental since they exist as a part of the higher levels. However, the higher levels are more significant, since they have an increased capacity to explore aspects of dialogue previously hidden. The levels we explore are the mythic rational, the rational and the centauric. 'lbese levels emerge through four
interrelated dimensions or Quadrants: the Upper Left or spiritual/faith dimension of the person entering into dialogue, the Upper Right Quadrant or theology of dialogue that emerges, the Lower Left or communal and interpretive realm, and Lower Right which covers the social organizational patterns with which the person in dialogue chooses to associate him or herself. We define responsibility in tenns of these four
Quadrants: The response or theology (UR) of the person is dependent upon her response-ability, or interior faith development (UL), which is informed by the worldview (LL) of her faith community to whom she feels responsible, with the sociological patterns of her community (LR), to some extent, offers clues as to her stage of development. / Religious Studies and Arabic / D.Th.(Religious Studies)
