Decentralized energy-saving hydraulic concepts for mobile working machinesLodewyks, Johann, Zurbrügg, Pascal January 2016 (has links)
The high price of batteries in working machines with electric drives offer a potential for investment in energy-saving hydraulic systems. The decentralized power network opens up new approaches for hydraulic- and hybrid circuits. In addition, the regeneration of energy can be used at any point of the machine. For the example of an excavator arm drive with a double cylinder two compact hydraulic circuits are presented, which relieve a central hydraulic system.

Performance Calculations and Optimization of a Fresnel Direct Steam Generation CSP Plant with Heat StorageSchlaifer, Perrine January 2013 (has links)
This master thesis deals with the performance calculations of a 9MW linear Fresnel CSP plant withdirect steam generation built by the Solar Division of the CNIM Company. The aim was to calculate theannual electricity production taking into account the weather conditions as well as some steam storage. At first, a steam accumulator model was developed with Excel, in order to estimate the pressureevolution in the tanks during the charging, storage and discharging processes. The data obtained withthis model was then integrated to the thermodynamic cycle model, programmed with Excel, whichcalculated the electrical power production knowing the thermal power available in the solar field. Theelectricity production calculations were made every 600 seconds during one year.To improve the results accuracy, the influence of the plant location slope was estimated, calculating theequivalent azimuth and elevation angles in a new spherical coordinates system. For an average slope of4.21° at the plant location, the annual thermal energy gain is 14.4% (with a gain up to 60% duringwinter days) and the annual electricity production is increased by 12.59%. The influence of frost on themirrors during cold and humid nights was also estimated with a simple model of the energy needed toheat up a constant layer of ice. Depending on the assumptions, the electricity production losses werebetween 1.27 and 2.84% of annual electricity production. The losses due to plant shutdowns set by theelectrical network manager RTE during the snowmelt months were also estimated. The annualelectricity production could decrease by 8.02 to 11.57 % because of the load management, dependingon the days during which the plant is shutdown. Finally, an economic optimisation was led with prices estimated by CNIM, which gave an optimal solarfield design with 31 lines and 5 steam accumulators. The payback time would then be 9.887 years.

Dynamics of cognitive control and flexibility in the anterior cingulate and prefrontal corticesBoschin, Erica January 2013 (has links)
The body of work hereby presented aims at better defining the specific mechanisms underlying cognitive control and flexibility, and to investigate the neural substrates that might support these dynamics. More specifically, the anterior cingulate (ACC), dorsolateral prefrontal (dlPFC) and frontopolar (FPC) cortices have been proposed to play a fundamental role in monitoring and detecting the presence of environmental contingencies that require the recruitment of cognitive control (such as competition between responses in the presence of conflicting information), implementing cognitive control, and supporting higher-order cognitive processing, respectively. This thesis investigates the effects of damage to these regions, and of interference with their activity, on these processes. It also argues for the importance of dissociating possible separate cognitive control components that might differently contribute to behavioural adjustments (such as caution and attention/task-relevant processing), and provides one of the first attempts to quantify them within the parameters of a mathematical model of choice response-time, the Linear Ballistic Accumulator (LBA). The results confirm the crucial role of the dlPFC in modulating behavioural adjustments, as both damage and interference with this region’s activity significantly affect measures of conflict-induced behavioural adaptation. It is hypothesized that dlPFC might drive behavioural adjustments by encoding recent conflict history and/or supporting the automatization of a newly advantageous behavioural strategy during the early stages after a change in conflict levels. When a task does not involve competition between a habit and instructed behaviour, lesions or interference with ACC’s activity do not appear to affect behaviour in a manner that is consistent with the classic conflict-monitoring framework. It is suggested that its role might be better described as a more general monitoring and confirmatory mechanism that evaluates both actual and potential outcomes of an action, in order to proactively guide adjustments away from contextually disadvantageous responses. Finally, lesions to the FPC do not affect abstract-rule integration, but do impair the early stages of acquisition of a new abstract rule, when a previously rewarded rule stops being rewarded, and specifically when acquisition is dependent on self-initiated exploration. This suggests a role for FPC in the evaluation of multiple concurrent options in order to aid the development of new behavioural strategies.

Modifikace hydroxidu nikelnatého pro zlepšení jeho elektrochemických vlastností v alkalických akumulátorech / Intensification of Nickel Hydroxide Properties in Order to Improvement of Its Electrochemical Behavior in Alkaline AccumulatorsMáca, Tomáš January 2015 (has links)
Commercial alkaline accumulators with positive electrode based on nickel hydroxide generally comprise beta modification of the active material at present due to its excellent stabilization of performance during electrochemical cycling. This dissertation refers to a research work accomplished by author, which has been aimed to utilization of alpha nickel hydroxide in alkaline batteries including exploration of possibilities to attain its stability in strong alkali medium of the electrolyte. I have focused my effort to elucidate reasons for its transformation tendency and to find way of their suppression.

In-situ analýza složení záporné elektrody olověných sekundárních článků s využití rentgenového difraktometru / Using of X-ray for distribution analysis of electrodes for secondary cell applicationMacháč, Milan January 2017 (has links)
This diploma thesis is focused on in-situ analysis of the composition of the negative electrodes of second secondary cells with using X-ray radiation. The first part is dedicated to the theory of lead accumulators, including charging, discharging, battery components and individual degradation mechanisms. The main part of the thesis includes the preparation of electrochemical in situ XRD cells and following measurement of the growth of lead sulphate crystals on the OCV potential. Furthermore, the lead cell was subjected to the measurement of the cyclic voltammetry around the working point of the negative electrodes. From these measurements was evident gradual increase of the lead sulfate crystals. The analysis was supplemented with electron microscopy images. In addition, were evaluated the in-situ particle analysis of the LTO Sigma sample.

Záporná elektroda olověného akumulátoru pro hybridní elektrická vozidla / Negative lead-acid battery electrode for hybrid electric vehiclesDvořáček, Daniel January 2020 (has links)
The thesis briefly discusses the issue of electrochemical power sources, especially with a focus on lead-acid batteries operating in modes that are typical of hybrid electric vehicles. The theoretical part of the thesis should be a good basis for the subsequent practical part, in which several experimental electrodes and their parameters will be performed and evaluated. The output of the practical part will be conclusions regarding the influence of different variants of modified carbon used as an additive in the active material of the negative electrode on the capacity and life of cells
