Tanter på tur : Om "tantvandringars" inverkan på konstruerandet på kön och ålder

Signe, Ericson January 2016 (has links)

Elder Abuse: Education for Persons with Experienced Violence

Reinberg, Julie A. (Julie Ann) 08 1900 (has links)
The rationale for this study was based on the application of the cycle of domestic violence theory to elder abuse. It examined the effect of history of experienced childhood violence on tolerance, behavioral intentions, and past behaviors of elder abuse toward general and specific elderly targets. The effectiveness of educational interventions for altering tolerance and behavioral intentions of elder abuse was examined. Two hundred and twenty-five undergraduates were assessed for aging knowledge, general aging attitudes, aging anxiety, elder abuse attitudes, and elder abuse intentions and past behaviors. Participants were assigned to a High or Low Experienced Violence group and participated in an educational group or control group. Posttest and one-month followup measures were obtained. No differences were found at pretest between High and Low Violence. Level of Violence did not impact intervention efficacy. Elder abuse education altered attitudes, intentions, and behaviors of elder abuse at posttest significantly more than did aging education or control groups (p < .001), but these effects were no longer significant at followup. Elder abuse attitudes had higher relationships with elder abuse intentions and reported past behaviors than did global aging attitudes or aging anxiety (p < .05). General elderly targets yielded more tolerance, intentions, and reported past behaviors of elder abuse than did specific elderly targets (p < .001). Experienced childhood abuse was unrelated to elder abuse expression yielding no support for the role of cycle of violence in elder abuse. Specificity of target mediated elder abuse attitudes, intentions, and behaviors. Primary prevention interventions which aim to reduce tolerance and intentions of elder abuse should include specific information on elder abuse; aging education is ineffective for this goal.

Ageismus v prostředí české společnosti / Ageism in the Czech republic

Šedivý, Jiří January 2015 (has links)
The diploma thesis "Ageism in the Czech republic" explores areas, where Czech seniors are perceived in discriminatory manners. It maps where they can encounter such behaviors, how do they manifest and which parts of society display those ageist attitudes. For the research I have used a qualitative inquiry way of focus groups and further individual interviews. Research sample was formed partly by seniors living in nursing home and partly by those ones living at home, relatively self-reliantly. The obtained data was analyzed, coded by opened and selective coding and after that evaluated. To achieve good validity of research I have used Q-sorting as an auxiliary method in research sample of young adults working in social services or in related areas. The data I received was analyzed by correlation analysis. I have defined basic and most important points from all levels of research where seniors perceived discriminatory behavior and pressure for young and adult populations. As a suitable prevention I have established the education to values and familiarization with problems of seniors.

Mezigenerační vztahy v soudobé společnosti / Intergenerational Relationships in Contemporary Society

Dupalová, Petra January 2014 (has links)
Intergenerational relationships in contemporary society Abstract The diploma thesis deals with the theme of intergenerational relationships, particularly focusing on ageism. This theme was chosen for the present social development and also because of its relevance. Intergenerational relations are becoming an important element of everyday life and thus have an impact on the lives of individuals and theirs families. Demographic indicators have a big influence for ageism and their analysis will also be part of the work. The work will include both parts, theoretical part, which will be familiar with the problems of intergenerational communication and conflict resolution and discuss the literature dealing with this issue, as well as empirical part, based mainly on secondary data analysis of sociological research. All calculations are performed by the SPSS software. Keywords: Intergenerational Relationships, Ageism, Aging, Society, Individual, Generation, SPSS

PERCEPTIONS ON THE AGING POPULATION: DISPARITIES AMONG GRADUATE SOCIAL WORK STUDENTS

Crosson, Ashlee Taylor, Goodwin, Kelsey Marie 01 June 2019 (has links)
Social workers are needed to meet the needs of the growing aging population. Yet, there is a shortage of social work students entering the field of gerontology as opposed to child welfare, school social work, or family services. The proposed study used a qualitative research design to explore why social work students are underrepresented in areas that serve older people. A sample of 58 graduate social work students from several universities in Southern California completed open-ended questions on a scale (N = 58). Thematic analysis of the data revealed four major factors that account for the underrepresentation of social work students in gerontology. These were: (a) lack of knowledge about gerontology, (b) misconceptions about the elderly populations, (c) lack of incentives, and (d) preference for other social work areas. These findings hold major implications for theory, research, policy, and social work education.

Alkohol inom äldreomsorgen : Hur hanteras problematiken? / Alcohol in Elderly Care : How are the problems handled?

Fyrpihl, Marie, Darwish, Jomana January 2015 (has links)
The purpose of our qualitative study is to investigate how the caretakers, in the elderly care, interpret and manage the issue of alcohol problems in elderly people. We have been performing semi-structured interviews on 9 people, on different levels in the elderly care. There were 3 elderly care managers, 1 nurse, 1 assistance administrator and 4 auxiliary nurses, who all, at some level, work with alcohol problems in elderly people. Those interviews were performed singularly, with one exception: we interviewed an elderly care manager and her 2 auxiliary nurses at the same time. To analyse our empirics, we have used the theories of Power and Ageism. Our study shows that the auxiliary nurses, who are the ones who must deal with these problems, have great difficulties to perform their work because they have no qualified knowledge about alcohol problems. In addition, they almost never get the proper information, they don’t have access to guidelines about handling people with alcohol problems and they don’t receive support from their superiors. They have to make the most difficult decisions for themselves without any resources or other guidance.
