Sänkta ventilationsflöden på Sundsvalls sjukhus : Utvärdering av ett energibesparingsinitiativ genom rökförsök och temperaturmätningar

I syfte att sänka energianvändningen på Sundsvalls sjukhus riktas nu fokus mot ventilationssystemet och möjligheterna att där sänka luftflöden. Denna uppsats undersöker detta energibesparingsinitiativ genom att studera vad som händer med luftrörelser och temperaturer i ett rum på sjukhuset vid varierande ventilationsflöden. Metoden är rökförsök med observation och analys av mätdata som jämförs med krav på inomhusklimat och beräkningar av temperatureffektiviteten, ett kvantitativt mått på hur väl tillförd värme kommer rummets vistelsezon tillgodo. Resultaten indikerar bland annat att det kan vara till nackdel för luftkvalitén med alltför drastiska ventilationsflödessänkningar i det observerade rummet, detta fastän mängden tillförd luft är mer än tillräcklig enligt gällande krav. Bäst temperatureffektivitet uppnås då frånluft går via både frånluftsdon och frånluftsfönster vilket pekar mot att bäst förutsättningar för att sänka ventilationsflöden eller tilluftstemperatur finns med denna frånluftsinställning. / With the purpose of lowering energy consumption at Sundsvall Hospital, focus is now being directed towards the ventilation system and the possibility to reduce air flow. The thesis examines this energy-saving initiative by studying what happens to air movements and temperatures in one room at the hospital when ventilation air flow is varied. Air movements were made visible with smoke and observed and temperatures were logged. Observations and data were then analyzed with regard to indoor climate requirements and temperature efficiency, a quantitative measure of how well supplied heat will benefit a room’s occupied zone. The results indicate, among other things, that a too great reduction in air flow rates can have a negative impact on the air quality in the observed room, even though the amount of air supplied is more than sufficient according to current requirements. Best temperature efficiency is achieved when exhaust air passes through both the exhaust air device and the ventilated windows, indicating that this is the most favorable exhaust air setting for lowering ventilation air flow rates or room supply air temperature.

The subject of this master's thesis is warm air heating system. The task is to apply this heating method to a specified building and to design technical solutions. The degree of completion of the extended project is appropriate for the requirements of building permit documentation. Proposed solutions were evaluated in the viewpoint of inner environment, space requirements, operation economy and environmental impact. Warm air heating system made by Atrea is used for building heating. The text part of the thesis deals with building air permeability and the experimental part describes performance of blower door test in a family house and evaluation of experiment data

The thesis deals with energy simulation of a heat recovery system in coupling with a ground heat exchanger (GHE) in a low-energy family house with warm-air heating and ventilation. The effect of GHE on operation and effectiveness of a heat recovery unit was assessed from the results of the simulation. Next, energy and economic benefits of the heat recovery with and without GHE and consequent savings were evaluated as well. The profitability of the investment was assessed using comparison with the investment costs. Recommendations for the operation of the system were suggested.

The thesis deals with an energy simulation of a ground heat exchanger (GHE) in classical and brine performance, which is used as an accessory of warm air heating system recovery in a low-energy family house. On basis of simulation results, the benefits of both heat exchangers were assessed. Furthermore, the energy and economics savings of heat recovery coupled with GHE were evaluated. Comparing the investment costs, the profitability of each investment were assessed and recommendations for the operation, implementation and appropriateness were outlined.

In the first part of the thesis are analy-zed the different types of heat recovery system, their behavior and suitability of use in HVAC systems. The second part includes the actual experiment, when were measured parameters of air, which passed through the unit and then were analyzed the results. In the last part, third, was measured unit applied to the selected house and was compared to operation of the unit in case of use by the producer given unit parameters and measured parameters.

This master’s thesis deals with the design of the heating and ventilation system for the ‘Emotivní dům’ which was designed by the author of this thesis. The first part of the thesis provides an overview of the project and the architectural design of the house. In the next part, the calculation of the heat loss and the design of the heating and ventilation system is described. War-air heating/ventilation is used in in the habitable rooms of the house with the hydronic system utilized in other spaces. The floor heating is used in the bathrooms and the other non-habitable spaces, such as the garage, are heated with radiators. A natural gas boiler is used as a heat source for both space heating and domestic hot water heating. The thesis contains the floor plans of the house as well as technical drawings of the heating and ventilation system.
