An integrated framework for managing eBusiness collaborative projects.

Cameron, Julie, Computer Science & Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, UNSW January 2007 (has links)
An increasing number of ebusiness projects are undertaken as voluntary collaborations of independent organizations. These projects are known as ‘ebusiness collaborative projects’. Industry sources estimate only about 20% of these projects achieve their stated objectives due partly to inadequate project management. The volunteer and virtual nature of the collaboration and relationships among the participating organizations means existing project management frameworks and methods are not appropriate because they assume project management has authority, or that projects occur within a single organization. This thesis investigates the nature of ebusiness collaborative projects to provide insight into management approaches that increase the likelihood of success. The research questions are: What concepts need to be addressed in a framework capable of supporting effective management and providing an understanding of ebusiness collaborative project outcomes? Is there an existing framework with this capability? Are the concepts supported by empirical evidence and a sound theoretical base? Can these concepts be used to form an integrated framework suitable for use by practitioners? A qualitative meta analysis of 6 published case studies identified characteristics that explained challenges specific to ebusiness collaborative project management. Empirical research identified concepts that need to be addressed in a management framework, namely: 3 organizational levels – organizations, teams and representatives; 3 stages of the eBusiness Collaborative Project Lifecycle© and; 4 management meta factors - motivation, capability, communication and coordination These concepts were supported by theory. In the absence of an existing framework, the concepts were used to develop the Integrated Framework for Managing eBusiness Collaborative Projects. Five additional case studies were used to evaluate the Integrated Framework and its usefulness for practitioners. Findings indicate the Integrated Framework is capable of supporting effective management and providing an understanding of the outcomes of ebusiness collaborative projects within the Australian context. This thesis contributes to knowledge by integrating and building on theory and existing research about project management, collaborations and virtuality and applying these findings to a real world environment. The Integrated Framework enhances industry best practice and may apply to all collaborative projects in which participating organizations volunteer to work towards an agreed objective or outcome.

Implementace OLAP analýzy nad daty knihoven VUT / Implementation of OLAP Analysis for BUT Libraries

Mahdalíček, Josef January 2008 (has links)
The aim of this project is to create tool for OLAP analysis over operational data of BUT libraries. This OLAP tool answers ie. query how long were users having loaned books. These queries could be specified by time period (year, month), library (ie. FIT library) and other dimensions. Only some, for this application interesting, tables from source database are used. Tables were exported into text files in csv format. According to project specification, system for OLAP analysis should be open source. Tool Mondrian accomplishes this requirement and was  used in this work. Data warehouse is represented by relational database MySQL. ETL tool feeds data warehouse by data from exported files. User interface is used from internet browser and is implemented by component JPivot. Query results are displayed in tables and graphs.

Jílek, Josef January 2012 (has links)
The master thesis describes and evaluates application of Integrated Library System Aleph 500 (in following text ILS Aleph) in academic libraries in Czech Republic. First chapter describes theoretical requirements at automated library systems for academic libraries. Apart of general requirements are described new technical trends as tools of Web 2.0. Second chapter brings full description of ILS Aleph with specification of each system's module. Third chapter is dedicated to implementation of ILS Aleph in Czech academic libraries. Characteristic of each institutional implementation contains three parts: characteristic of institution, describing of implementation and description of institutional OPACs. Last chapter is dedicated to empiric study of application of ILS Aleph in academic libraries in Czech Republic. ILS Aleph users are examined at three levels (library users, librarians, system administrators). Empiric study was made at group of Prague academic libraries that implemented ILS Aleph.

An Aleph: Borges, according to the The Arabian Nights: comparative study of the Arabian poetics as an element for the construction of the narrative poetics of Jorge Luis Borges

Silva, Sandra Aparecida 07 August 2008 (has links)
This study compares the poetic mimesis of the Arabic-Islamic world, specially the book of tales The Arabian Nights, with the poetic mimesis of the American- Hispanic world in Jorge Luis Borges literary production. The anonymous literary composition The Arabian Nights became the main reference to speculate both the form and the narrative construction strategies as well as the thematic contents as a poetic creation of the Argentinian author. Due to the magnitude of the borgesian literary production, this study has only considered the book El Aleph (1946) and three narratives of El libro de arena (1975) El espejo y la máscara, Undr and El disco. As a result, the study proposes to state that the Arabic- Islamic Poetics, albeit a universal cultural patrimony, constituted itself in one of the vital elements to the construction of Jorge Luis Borges Narrative Poetics

No. of bitstreams: 1 JoseWLT_TESE.pdf: 1108969 bytes, checksum: bf9b38dbe3bdad6921a8da52cbd0de7b (MD5) Previous issue date: 2012-06-02 / This study approach the Jorge Luis Borges s prose of fiction under the perspective of mimesis and the self-reflexivity. The hypothesis is that the Aleph is a central symbol of the Borges s fictional universe. The rewriting and the retake of this symbol along of his work entail to a reflection about the possibilities and the limits of mimesis. This study is divided in three parts which contain two chapters. The first part Bibliographic revision and conceptual fundaments of inquiry discuss the critical fortune of author (Chapter 1) and the concepts that will give sustentation to the inquiry (Chapter 2). The second part About the Borges s aesthetic project sketch out the literary project defended by Borges that is his conception of the literature and his ideological matrix (Chapter 3) beside his anti-psychologism and his nostalgia of epos (Chapter 4). The third and last part is entitled The Aleph and his doubles. In the chapter 5 this study analyses the short story El Aleph and consider its centrality on the Borges s work. The argument that is on this short story Borges elaborates a reflection about mimesis. In the chapter 6, on the same hand, four short stories will be analysed: Funes el memorioso ; El Libro de Arena ; El evangelio seg?n Marcos and Del rigor en la ciencia . The conclusion that is the Borges s literature is self-awake of its process as such demonstrate its parodic sense and its bookish origin. Hence, the Borges s literature overlapping the mimetic crisis of language and challenge the limits between fiction and reality. However, it doesn t surrender to the nihilist perspective that is closing of literature to the world / Este estudo aborda a prosa de fic??o de Jorge Luis Borges sob a ?tica da m?mesis e da auto-reflexividade.

Martin, Franck 29 November 2010 (has links) (PDF)
