La minería almeriense en el período contemporáneo

Pérez de Perceval Verde, Miguel Ángel 01 September 1988 (has links)
The study focuses on the development of mining and metal products in Almeria from the end of the 18th century until 1930, although some statistics go as far as 1960. The interest of the topic researched lies in the advanced character of the local mining industry, which was first in developing new extraction methods in Spain. The work is made up of four sections. The first (end of 18th century until 1840) and its main features are the regional exploitation and the use of handcraft techniques. The second (1840-1890) witnessed the extension of the geographical framework, the arrival of new investors from other points of Spain. The third period (until World War I) when national initiatives were substituted by foreign capital and lead is displaced by iron ore as the main resource. Finally, the fourth period ends in 1930, coinciding with crisis in the sector. The development of techniques, the organizational forms of mining companies and the destination of production are analyzed, together with the role or foreign investments, the characteristics of metal production and the consequences of this activity on the local economy.
