Diploma thesis deals with the topic of the position of the First Secretary of the Central Committee of Communist Party of Czechoslovakia Antonín Novotný and the role he played in the political system during the 1960s; system named for its characteristics as quasi-pluralist authoritarianism by Harold G. Skilling. First Secretary's authority within the limits of the system was supported by several competences, formal and informal, that he could use to strengthen his position. The author of the thesis works on the assumption that his position stayed inherently unstable and therefore provides an analysis of the second half of the "Novotný era" to discover which factors at that time supported his authority, and on the other hand, which ones tended to undermine it. The subject of this dissertation is the conception of the counterpoint by Antonín Rejcha. Rejcha was working on his conception systematically all of his life and he defined it in his two treatises: Ueber das neue Fugensystem and in several parts of Traité de haute composition musicale. In this dissertation, i'm focusing on the second treatise. Besides of detailed commentary of Rejcha's thoughts, i'm trying to put them in the context of his predecessors, contemporaries and succesors, by which i'm reflecting importance of Rejcha's ideas in the field of counterpoint.

Missa pro defunctis (1802-1808) by Antonín Reicha (1770-1836) is a unique work. Situated in time and in style between the monumental requiem settings of Mozart and Berlioz, it establishes the concert requiem as a sub-genre of requiem composition. Missa pro defunctis incorporates attributes from both liturgical and concertized genres and co-exists within both church and dramatic composition realms. As seen in his copious theory writings, Reicha’s ideas concerning melody, harmony, counterpoint, fugue, and dramatic composition inform his compositional preferences. In this study I demonstrate how a modern performance of Antonín Reicha's Missa pro defunctis can be informed by consideration of his major theoretical writings, by an understanding of the nineteenth-century concert requiem sub-genre, and by other writings on nineteenth-century performance practice. In producing an historically informed performance of Missa pro defunctis, I analyzed the four major theoretical treatises by Reicha for content, and relevancy, to the Requiem. I next analyzed the Missa pro defunctis itself in light of these treatises. I discovered that the work sometimes aligns with Reicha’s theoretical writings and sometimes departs from their principles, in large part, because of the inherent contradiction resulting when a sacred text is set in a dramatic fashion. I further incorporated conclusions about the implications for performance revealed through the study of Reicha’s theoretical writings and my own experience in preparing the work for performance. It is my hope that this recently published nineteenth-century work will receive more frequent performance than has been the case since its composition. This study contains resources to provide conductors a means of producing a performance that is in consonance with Reicha’s philosophies as a theorist and composer.

The tenor figure of princ, three-act opera, " Rusalka" by Antonín Dvořák, was a long time with its character, singing difficulty and technical extremity , a big challenge for me. So l decided after two years of studying this role, write a magister thesis about princ, think about his character and its overall by the creation from the very beginning to the hardest singing party at the end of the opera.

The aim of the diploma thesis is to create a catalog of negatives from the photo archive of ethnographer Antonín Václavík, which is located in the archives of the Museum of Southeast Moravia in Zlín. The introduction to the catalog mentions the biography of Antonín Václavík and his contribution to czech ethnography. Photographic material, its history and characteristics with regard to the processed material are also discussed here. The thesis also includes a dictionary of technical terms and indexes.

The submitted thesis deals with Antonín Dvořák's trilogy of concert overtures Nature, Life and Love, Op. 91-93. After summarising the current state of research in existing literature followed by the overview of music and non-musical sources, the overture - and mainly concert overture - is depicted as a music genre and Antonín Dvořák's overtures are presented in general. Integral element of the thesis is a summarization of circumstances of the given works' origin and thus also putting them into the context of composer's oeuvre. However the focus of the thesis lies in a musical-analytical insight into each of the three overtures (In Nature's Realm, Op. 91 [B 168], Carnival, Op. 92 [B 169], Othello, Op. 93 [B 174]), where the author also takes their existing analyses into account and pays attention to their genesis according to the sources. The purpose of the presented dissertation is to analyse the functioning of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia in Antonín Novotný's period (1953- 1967). The dissertation deals with three main themes: the organizational structure of the central apparatus, the staffing and personnel policy (the so-called nomenklatura). The main intention of the study concentrates on the Party elite's mobility and formation and considers patronage (clientelism) as an approach to understanding the political process. From the perspective of the political pluralism it examines coalition building at the central level through an analysis of aggregate biographical career data of over sixty Communist politicians. During the second half of the 1950s the Communist regime broke with the most brutal aspects of totalitarianism. The abandonment of massive and arbitrary repression was the key policy change from the Stalinist era. In many ways it prompted the transformation into a different type of dictatorship, becoming a modern police state rather than a despotic terror state. Instead of previous large-scale repression as a key means of social control, the Communist regime focused on a so-called cadre policy as the main power authority. (in English): The topic of this thesis is the attempt about summary of the important meetings, deals and development of the relationships between the Czechoslovakia and Egypt between the years 1955-1967. The time period of this thesis is bounded by these years because the relationships, were not common before year 1955, meanwhile the political career of Antonín Novotný was coming to its end in 1967. Novotný stopped to be the 1st secretary of ÚV KSČ in January 1968 and he abdicated on his presidency in March 1968. Except the relationships of the Czechoslovakia and Egypt I had been trying to describe the relationships between Egypt and the United States, the United Kingdom, France, the Soviet Union and with the another states, which had significant influence on the development of region and influenced the relationships between the Czechoslovakia and Egypt too. The sources of my thesis are mainly the archive materials, especially from the Archive of the foreign department and also National archive, where is stored archive of Antonín Novotný and another funds of the Political bureau and Bureau of the Central committee of the KSČ.
