The first chapter contains a brief description of PaulVs life which de facto makes the outline of the whole work. Special attention is being paid to PaulVs origin, his education and last but not least to his conversion to Christianity. Noticed is also PaulVs missionary activity and his end. In the second part of the first chapter there is discussed the view of the Scipture on the Roman citizenship of the Apostle, supplemented with a historical excursus about the history of Roman citizenship as such taking into special consideration the time of Paul's life i.e. the time of the Early Principate. Of course, the possibility of the Apostle's double citizenship is mentioned. From Paul's civil state follow necessarily his rights which form his further destiny. In particular there are concerned Paul's iudicial proceedings which are extensively discussed in the Acts of the Apostles. Religious conversion is an interesting phenomenon that crosses religious beliefs. This phenomenon intersects with many various disciplines, from medicine through the scientific disciplines such as anthropology, sociology, religious studies, psychology and theology. Religious conversion may on the one hand be a demonstration of deep spiritual experience and on the other, the result of strong pressure from others. We can get closer to the truth only through the authentic testimonies of the converts. This is why I have chosen the theme of the religious conversion in the context of "pure experience". We can see differences among conversions to various religions. But it is necessary to say, that I am interested in conversion to Christianity. But the Christianity of two thousand years ago is not the Christianity of today. The Apostle Paul joined a marginal movement at a time when such acceptance was punishable by death. Today, however, converts have joined millions of faithful around the whole world. And this is why religious conversion to Christianity is a lively phenomenon. The thesis offers an interpretation of Paul's political thought and political theology in the context of current philosophy. The first part presents a methodological basis of the work: the concept of political theology is conceived as a methodological tool that enables us to concentrate on interrelations and mutual effects of religion and politics and to expose implicit or explicit political meanings and implications of religious ideas. The second methodological subchapter deals with Max Weber's approach to "economic ethics of world religions": Weber concentrates on historical crossroads and switches which are a result of random chain of coincidences and factors forming a specific relation to values (Wertbeziehung) which enables us to understand further historical development. Paul's missionary activity and theology is seen as such historical crossroad with far- reaching social consequences. Another part elaborately deals with the most important and influential interpretations of Paul in current non-Christian philosophy: Jacob Taubes, Alain Badiou, Giorgio Agamben. Aim of this diploma thesis "The Vocation of the Apostle Paul: Exegesis and Theological Aspects of Acts chs. 9, 22, 26 and Gal 1" is briefly present historical data of the Apostle Paul, present his personality. Especially it is concentrating on his conversion and vocation and New Testament texts that refer about this events (Acts chs. 9, 22, 26 and Gal 1). Part of this work is to analyze four reports of Paul's vocation. Thesis points on difference or conections between them. Its goal is to investigate the constitution of the rhetorical proves: ethos, pathos and logos in the theological discourse, due the fluency of such a discourse in our society. We present a panoramic view of the history of Bible canonization and its process of translations of the New and the Old Testaments. We have selected as a sample for analyzes the chapters 10, 11, 12 and 13 of the Second Letter of Paul to the Corinthians, text which forms Paul s apology. In order to help this analyzes, we have done a presentation of Paul s Biography as well as of the city of Corinth and its Christian community. We have also written about the general characteristics of Paul s writings, dedicating a special attention to the Second Letter to the Corinthians, source of our sample of analyzes. To achieve the established objective, we used the theories of Classic Rhetoric and The New Rhetoric from Michel Meyer (1993, 1994, 2007), Chaïm Perelman and Lucie Olbrechts-Tyteca (1996). We have started the analyses rescuing some of the historical, linguistics and theological aspects of Paul and the Corinthians community and looked for each one of the rhetorical proves methodologically separated. The analyses proved the argumentation within Paul s discourse is made up by the rhetorical proves that are intertwined and superposed with one each other, which goal is to conquer the audience / Esta dissertação se insere na linha de pesquisa: Texto e discurso nas Modalidades Oral e Escrita. Tem como objetivo investigar a constituição das provas retóricas: ethos, pathos e logos no discurso teológico, dada a importância e influência desse discurso na sociedade. Apresentamos um panorama histórico do processo de canonização dos textos bíblicos e de suas traduções, tanto no Novo como no Antigo Testamento. Nomeamos como amostra de análise os capítulos 10, 11, 12 e 13 da Segunda Carta aos Coríntios, que formam a Apologia de Paulo. Com vistas a auxiliar a análise, realizamos uma apresentação da biografia do apóstolo Paulo, da cidade e da comunidade cristã de Corinto. Também discorremos sobre as características gerais dos escritos paulinos e dedicamos especial atenção à Segunda Carta aos Coríntios, fonte da nossa amostra. Abstract This work deals with the four final chapters of the Second Letter to Corinth, which are considered for their difference as a separate letter. The apostle Paul defends his apostolic mission here against "adversaries." The first chapters aim to bring closer the life of the Apostle Paul, his missionary journey. In abbreviated form, they also describe the individual leaves that St. Paul also wrote the so-called catalogs of suffering that these letters contain. The next section deals with Corinth. A brief outline of the history of this city-state is followed by a chapter on the local church community. After a short historical approach to Corinth, the characteristics of the local ecclesial community follow, followed by a description of the problems in this community as recorded in the letters that Paul addressed to Corinth. Behind this list is a brief introduction to the meaning of the word "apostle". At the end of this section, the work deals with the issue of Corinthian correspondence, ie the number of letters written in Corinth and their contents. After this general introduction to the problem, the work is devoted to a more detailed analysis of individual pericopes 2 Cor 10-13, which could shed light on what could be the reasons for this Great Paul's apology.

The present thesis, Paul's Apostolic Existence. How to understand apostle Paul when he writes about apostle Paul, investigates the issue of why Paul writes so frequently in his epistles about himself and his life. The search starts in 2 Cor 12:1-10 where Paul mentions Christ's answer to his prayer for recovery from sickness: "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is made perfect in weak- ness." This statement becomes the central point of the investigations. Their core part is exegesis of the relevant passages, mostly from Paul's letters to Corinth. The context is broadened by selected texts from the letters to the Philippians and to the Romans. In these texts, the apostle explains to the read- ers his own existence mainly by pointing out his weakness and suffering. The present thesis argues that Paul's motives for writing these texts should be looked for in his theology. He considers his recurring experience of God's power in weakness as instrumental in his mission to preach the gospel. The argument is supported by possibly precise description of the relation between Paul's apostolic existence and his preaching. This will show what benefit these texts can and should bring to their readers.

In this dissertation, I explore to address the problem of the identity of Paul’s interlocutor(s) in Rom 1–3 and the subsequent issue of whether Paul only includes non-Jewish Gentiles as recipients of his gospel teaching. In order to deal with the research question in a linguistically informed manner, I draw from Systemic Functional Linguistics and use two related notions of cohesive chains and grammatical metaphor (nominalization). By applying both methods to the text, I identify twenty-three active cohesive chains and five most important instances of nominalization in the text. Based on the linguistic data elicited solely by examining the interaction patterns among the chains and by explicating the various textual effects that nominalization brings about, I conclude that the linguistic evidence points to the possibility that the interlocutor is an ethnically Jewish man and Paul thus does not exclude his fellow Jews from his presentation of the gospel in Rom 1–3.
