O estudo toma coma base a análise de 36 artigos da Associação Nacional de Pesquisadores em Artes Plásticas (ANPAP – Comitê Educação em Artes Visuais) e de 15 artigos da Associação Nacional de Pós-Graduação e Pesquisa em Educação (ANPEd – Grupo de Trabalho 24) totalizando 51 artigos. O mapeamento da produção dos artigos visou o questionamento das concepções de arte, estética e educação revelando os limites e as possibilidades da Educação Estética para a emancipação. O conflito epistemológico entre as concepções estéticas suscitou a ausência de elementos que contribuam com as mudanças em prol de uma sociedade emancipada. Defendemos que a Educação Estética para a Emancipação está integrada ao pensamento educacional que almeja a transformação social; considerando assim os fundamentos do materialismo histórico no que se refere a arte e a estética; e o ensino da Arte no seu campo de luta que é a escola e a universidade, necessita manter um diálogo constante com os pressupostos da Pedagogia Histórico-Crítica. / ABSTRACT This research aims at the scientific production and the fundamentals of Aesthetic Education in Art Education. The study takes part based on the analysis of 36 articles of the National Association of Researchers in Fine Arts (ANPAP - Education Committee in Visual Arts) and 15 articles of the National Association of Graduate Studies and Research in Education (ANPEd - Working Group 24) totaling 51 texts. The mapping of the production of articles aimed at the questioning of the conceptions of art, aesthetics and education revealing the limits and possibilities of Aesthetic Education for emancipation. The epistemological conflict between the aesthetic conceptions raised the absence of elements that contribute to the changes for the sake of an emancipated society. We argue that the Aesthetic Education for the Emancipation is integrated into the educational thinking that aims at social transformation; so considering the fundamentals of historical materialism regarding art and aesthetics; and art education in his battlefield that is the school and the university, need to keep a constant dialogue with the assumptions of the Historical-Critical Pedagogy.
