Known as “Campinas Group”, these social and political subjects engaged themselves in the MST – Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem-Terra –, having as their project “to go back to the roots” through the conquest of the land, in the greater scope of the fight for the Agrarian Reform. The occupation of the “Reunidas” Farm in the city of Promissão (SP), main point of the action of the “Campinas Group”, gives origin to the largest land occupation of the state of São Paulo. This work recovers the trajectory and the history of protagonism and of challenges that permeates the action of the “Campinas Group”. This implies a narrative that points to its insertion in the urban popular movements in the region of Campinas, in the years 1970/80, to the exit of the families for the occupation of the “Reunidas” Farm, to the process that involved the organization of the land occupation, to the implantation of the Cooperativa de Produção Agropecuária “Padre Josimo Tavares” – COPAJOTA –, until arriving at the set of experiences and social-political and economic conflicts that occured in the production organization, in the practices and experiences of struggles and in the divisions and differentiated visions. When pointing to the peculiarities of the struggles of the “Campinas Group”, this dissertation stresses the intricacies of the difficult construction of social and political subjects in search of “writing their own history”. / Esta dissertação tem por objetivo analisar a trajetória de uma parcela dos movimentos sociais urbanos de Campinas - SP, que, em meados dos anos de 1980, decide “partir da cidade” e ir em busca das “terras de Promissão”. Conhecido como “Grupo de Campinas”, esses sujeitos sociais e políticos se engajam no MST – Movimento dos Trabalhadores Rurais Sem-Terra –, tendo por projeto “voltar às raízes” através da conquista da terra, no âmbito maior da luta pela Reforma Agrária. A ocupação de terras da Fazenda Reunidas no município de Promissão (SP), destaque da ação do “Grupo de Campinas”, dá origem ao maior assentamento de sem-terra do estado de São Paulo. O trabalho recupera a trajetória e a história do protagonismo e dos desafios que permearam a ação do “Grupo de Campinas”. Isto implica uma narrativa que aponta desde a sua inserção nos movimentos populares urbanos na região de Campinas, nos anos 1970/80, a saída das famílias para a ocupação da Fazenda Reunidas, o processo que envolveu a organização do assentamento, a implantação da Cooperativa de Produção Agropecuária “Padre Josimo Tavares” – COPAJOTA –, até chegar ao conjunto de experiências e conflitos sócio-políticos e econômicos que se verificaram na organização da produção, nas experiências e práticas de lutas e nas cisões e visões diferenciadas. Ao apontar para as peculiaridades de lutas do “Grupo de Campinas”, a dissertação destaca os meandros da difícil construção de sujeitos sociais e políticos em busca do projeto de “escrever sua própria história”.
