Common Assessment Framework (CAF) serves as a means of helping organizations of public sector to handle the methods of quality management to improve their work. The assessment criteria of this framework are recognized all over Europe and provide the organization itself with an opportunity of self assessment, satisfy the need to see the progress it makes and compare its work with the work of those institutions organizing of the same type, not only in its native country but all over the European Union as well. Common Assessment Framework has been used or is still being put into practice in 8 Lithuanian organizations of public administration. This work presents CAF being put to practical use assessing the work of a secondary school. It has been stated that the method of comparison is not used efficiently enough in the school; witch would lead to better results trying to achieve its goals and expand the opportunities. The strong sides of the school have been explored together with the spheres of work to be improved and a number of recommendations for strategic planning have been given. The use of CAF in any educational organization is a good method for assessing its work as it includes various spheres of its activities: work of administration, strategy and planning, management of human resources, partnership and resources, control of processes and changes, and results.
