Characterization of Lamps of IRF Solar Simulator

Sonna, Mrunmayee January 2023 (has links)
The Swedish Institute of Space Physics (IRF) at Kiruna focuses on research activities in the ionosphere, magnetosphere, and upper atmosphere of the planet as well as the development and production of various sensors and detectors for space research. The test facility includes the IRF SpaceLab which is equipped with multiple testing equipment. One of the testing resources available is the Solar Simulator, which consists of a vacuum chamber equipped with four metal halide lamps that produce a spectrum closely resembling that of the Sun. When any spacecraft payload or instrument is exposed to the Sun and its radiations, the most important factors to consider are the type of radiation, flux, and how the exposed material will react. Thermal designing and solar balance tests are important factors in achieving expected conditions for different missions. By testing and verifying these lamps, this solar simulator can be used not only for IRF missions but also for other institutes and private organizations that can access it. The characterization of four lamps is done in terms of temperature distribution, radiation, and power. According to preliminary experimental measured values obtained from the setup, exposed material, and its properties can be varied and the best suitable coating can be selected that includes α (absorptivity) and ϵ (emissivity) valueconsideration. The thesis is divided into four phases: Designing, Manufacturing, Testing, and Analyzing. Before entering into these phases, the basic knowledge of thermal engineering and thermal simulation is acquired. Thermal modeling and simulations are done in Airbus Defence & Space’s Systema Thermica software tool. The design phase includes designing a frame structure and a 350 x 350 mm screen in Autodesk Inventor software. Manufacturing of the frame structure and the screen was done in the IRF workshop. This screen kept hanging with the support of a frame structure which is mounted on the copper table inside the chamber. The screen is kept in the field of view of each lamp and every lamp is illuminated accordingly. The analysis is done by measuring the temperature of the back side of the screen. Temperature sensors were mounted and clamped mechanically instead of kapton tape to avoid direct contact with the screen. The obtained values are analyzed and compared with the thermally simulated values. Pressure and the temperature of the system were monitored with independent systems throughout the test procedure. This thesis report could operate as a foundation for future examination of the solar simulator’s lamps in order to determine precise efficiency.

Baksätesförlängning för hundar

Nylén, Sonja January 2022 (has links)
The purpose of this rapport is to present the possibilities in innovating or improving a product or service in the purpose of final thesis for the program in product development at Blekinge Institute of Technology.  The problem that was identified occurs during travel with bigger pet dogs in smaller cars where the capacity of the luggage compartment is not big enough to safely travel with the dog. To abide to Swedish safety laws the dog then needs to be safely fastened in the backseat of the car but with a big enough dog or a very small backseat issues can still occur. The prototype presented in this report is intended to be a possible solution to this problem and enable a safe and comfortable travel with big dogs in smaller cars.  The process to create a prototype consisted of initial sketches that were made to create an idea of how the product would be designed. These sketches were then used as a starting point for a 3D-model which was created using Autodesk Inventor. The prototype was designed to consist mainly out of an air mattress to create a product which is safe and versatile. The product was also intended to be sold together with an electric pump to create a fast and easy installation of the backseat extension.  A physical prototype was never created for the product which indicates that the prototype in this rapport is merely a concept. In order to further improve on this concept and create a consumer-ready product a real physical prototype would have to be made and mostly likely require further improvements.

Model Stirlingova motoru v PSCAD / Model of Stirling Engine in PSCAD

Gallo, Michal January 2016 (has links)
This dissertation about the Stirling engine deals with the history and formation of the heat engine. At the beginning of this work, fundamental parts and their functions are described, elucidating the principle of operation explained by the thermodynamic cycle and subsequently comparing the ideal and the real Stirling cycle and last but not least provides various modifications whilst describing their differences. The mathematical model of the Stirling engine is processed by Schmidth’s theoretical analysis and thereafter is created in PScad v46. The process of creating a model is shown in one of the chapters of this dissertation. The results were taken into account in the design of 3D models in Inventor Professional by Autodesk. The work concludes with the evaluation of the computational model and its functionality as well as the documentation of the 3D model.

Analys och vidareutveckling av lyftok till Dendro Lift ABs lyftbock LB2.5

Levin, Niklas January 2016 (has links)
Modeller togs fram i Autodesk Inventor Professional 2016. / Dendro Lift AB is a company that develops and manufactures lifting jacks for heavy lifting. Along with the construction company Mk3D, Dendro Lift AB introduces a new concept for a lifting trestle designed to lift stackers. The aim of the thesis is to further develop the yoke fitted in the lifting jack LB2.5 by reducing its material use and make way for a new dust and finger protection. The goal of the thesis is to develop manufacturing plans for the production of a new lifting yoke that meets the applicable requirements. In the implementation of the thesis there was a preliminary study on the design requirements, tension in bolted joints, evaluation of stresses in welds, finite element method analysis and sustainable development. The pilot study was followed by analysis and further development of the yoke with finite element analysis in software ANSYS Workbench 17.2. Models were developed in Autodesk Inventor Professional 2016. The results showed that the plate thickness could be reduced from 15 mm to 10 mm in the new yoke and thus reduced material usage by about 66 kg. The new yoke was also prepared for a new type of dust and finger protection. The conclusion was that the old yoke is oversized and less material can be used without compromising the operation of the lifting jack.

Výpočet chlazení asynchronního stroje pomocí programu Ansys CFX / Calculation of the cooling of the asynchronous machine ANSYS CFX

Horálek, Lukáš January 2017 (has links)
The issue this master’s thesis discusses the cooling synchronous machines. Specifically, the calculation of cooling induction motor using the finite volume method. Using Autodesk Inventor will create a 3D model of a real electric machine, ie asynchronous motor and then ANSYS WORKBENCH perform system analysis CFX, based on the finite volume method. Furthermore, we realize the air speed measurements on a particular machine and the individual results obtained by measuring and calculating the actual compared with each other. The master’s thesis also deals marginally with closely related to it. For the same machine model, we apply the calculation of the temperature fields using the finite volume method and them perform a thermal analysis. Next, we can carry out the measurement of the temperature on the motor itself and calculate the measured values and the measured compare each other.
