The theoretical part also contains a summary of systems, tools, methods and technologies that enter e-learning. The practical part of the thesis deals with selected methods of e-learning and also contains materials e-learning materials created directly for the subject Automation. The practical part includes 10 presentations, which can be used for teaching the subject Automation and at the same time a description of creating the presentations.

<p><p><strong>Syfte:</strong>Elektronisk handel är ett växande fenomen i affärsvärlden. Att förstå företagens avsikt med e-handelsanvändning är viktigt för både akademiker såväl som praktiker. Företag, organisationer och till och med kommuner har börjat bedriva e-handel för att automatisera, effektivisera och på sikt spara pengar i sina verksamheter. Syftet med denna studie är att empiriskt beskriva e-handelns utveckling och användning i Sverige och specifikt inom den teknologiska industrin som arbetar med automation.<p> </p><p><strong>Metod:</strong>Denna studie behandlar e-handel i automationsföretag. Respondenterna ombads att validera betydelsen av e-handel genom webbaserade enkäter. Vidare undersöker denna studie effekterna av e-handel mellan företag. Resultatet bekräftades genom att analysera data och information med hjälp av SPSS.<p> </p><p><strong>Slutsatser:</strong>Resultaten visar att e-handel mellan företag ger positiva effekter. En betydande del av automationsföretagen var positiva till e-handel och slutsatserna kan vara till hjälp för företag vid bedömningen av drivkrafterna och hindren för en effektiv driftsättning av e-handel med andra företag. Design of an object-oriented paradigm for model generation : an application in timber harvesting

The potential gains that could be realized from optimizing timber harvesting are significant. To a great extent it is these initial functions that dictate the quality of future manufacturing steps. Timber harvesting systems are defined by the operations they contain and the equipment that perform them. For any given harvesting situation there are a large number of unique systems, performing under a variety of cost, production, and environmental conditions. The objective of optimized timber harvesting is to reduce cost while simultaneously increasing production and minimizing environmental impact. One way to accomplish this objective is through mechanization and automation. Mechanization increases the production output, efficiency, and product quality. However selecting an appropriate level of mechanization to avoid under utilization of expensive resources is a critical decision. The decision requires that the product mix, environmental and user specified constraints be matched against the available equipment technology, and the required performance criteria. This research describes a computer based system which queries a user on the timber stand specifics and a set of harvesting objectives. The system then matches these user's needs to a level of mechanization that would maximize the efficiency of the production system. The computer accomplishes this by searching a set of databases containing information on the available technology and its impact on production, efficiency, economics and the environment. The level of mechanization is determined by specific combinations of existing equipment. Individual pieces of equipment that are compatible with one another are balanced together to form a viable productive unit. / Graduation date: 1991

I dagens samhälle är energiförbrukning väldigt viktigt och framförallt något som kommer bli en betydligt större aspekt framåt i tiden, särskilt om man jämför med hur man tar hänsyn till det idag. Bengt-Olof Hammar (se inledning) har sju stora maskiner i snickeriet där han startar och stänger av spånsuget manuellt. Önskemålet från Hammar var i grunden att automatisera snickeriet på så sätt att vid en maskinstart startar spånsuget och spjället till respektive maskin öppnas. Projektet utökades senare så att möjligheten att slå ifrån utsuget när maskinerna körts på tomgång en viss tid är möjligt. En ny produkt togs fram med en välfungerande lösning av problemet och lyckade resultat vid styrning av spånsuget och spjäll. Produkten kan konfigureras för varje maskin och kan användas för andra liknande problem. / In today's society, energy consumption is very important, and above all, something that will have a much larger aspect in the future, especially compared with today. The project consists, upon the request of Bengt-Olof Hammar (see paragraph Inledning) has seven large machines in his workshop where he starts and stops the chip extractor manually. The desire of Bengt-Olof was basically to automate the workshop so that when a machine starts the chip extractor starts and the dampers for the machine is opened. The project was later expanded so that the ability to turn off the chip extractor when the machine run on idle for a certain period of time. A new product was developed with a great solution to the problem and good results in controlling the chip extractor and dampers. The product can be configured for each machine and can be used for other similar problems.

Automation of Electrospark Deposition of TiCp/Ni on RSW Copper Electrodes

Electrospark Deposition (ESD) is a specialized micro-bonding process which is used to coat a base material, known as the substrate, with a stronger, tougher, and more durable top layer, the electrode. Short durations of electrical pulses ranging from milliseconds to microseconds are used to deposit the electrode onto the substrate. This process can be used to repair damaged parts, tools or equipment, or to improve and extend tool and equipment life. The objective of this study is to develop a better understanding of the TiCp/Ni Metal Matrix Compound (MMC) coating process on RSW electrodes for the purpose of automation. Key aspects of the process are identified to aid in developing a method and approach for process automation. In order to test the effects of automating this ESD process three automation solutions were considered and tested. The first was a Manual-Automated Hybrid setup which involved the use of a manual vibrating TiCp/Ni electrode applicator which was mounted on a CNC lathe. The second solution was the novel Actively Controlled Rotating and Reciprocating mechanism which replaced the vibration of the manual applicator with an actively controlled reciprocating mechanism and added rotational control of the TiCp/Ni electrode. The third solution was the novel Actively Controlled Rotating and Vibrating mechanism which used the rotational portion of the Actively Controlled Rotating and Reciprocating mechanism but replaced the reciprocating mechanism with a vibrational one. Observations of initial tests lead to an understanding of how the TiCp/Ni electrode wears during the process while using a manual applicator as opposed one of the novel mechanisms and helped to solidify a method to ensure even wearing of the TiCp/Ni electrode for automation. Further testing of the Actively Controlled Rotating and Reciprocating mechanism provided information about the electrical characteristics of the process and the effects of these results on the process. These test results were used to develop a constraint on the contact duration between the TiCp/Ni electrode and the RSW Copper electrode. Force measurements of the manual operators at Huys Industries Ltd, the Actively Controlled Rotating and Reciprocating mechanism, and the Actively Controlled Rotating and Vibrating mechanism were used to identify differences in the process results based on the mechanism used. With the use of this data an upper limit for the contact force for this process was specified in order to ensure damage free coatings. The Actively Controlled Rotating and Vibrating mechanism was used to specify a minimum travel speed for the TiCp/Ni electrode along with a minimum number of passes required to ensure gapless coatings. The Actively Controlled Rotating and Vibrating mechanism produced relatively decent coatings of TiCp/Ni on the RSW Copper electrodes and serves as a proof of concept and basis for automation of this process.
