Jag höll på att inledna med att jag är illojal mot mina medium. Men jag hejdar mig halvvägs, för jag har aldrig gjort några löften. Illojaliteten är inte riktad mot ett medium eller ett tema, utan mot en förväntan på en enhetlig praktik. Vems förväntan? Jag vet inte riktigt vem den tillhör men den har följt mig länge. Vad jag vet är att jag inte har någon lust att konstruera ett konstnärsskap ur en uppsättning handlingar som innehåller lika många olikheter som likheter eller vars likheter med varandra är sinsemellan väldigt olika. När jag tillåter mig att avstå från att formulera en enande tes undervilken mina arbeten ska vila blir det enklare att vara konsekvent och ärlig inom varje arbete. Så jag kommer att tillåta mig att avstå. Jag kommer skriva om saker jag har gjort, saker andra har gjort, tankar jag har tänkt och tankar andra har tänkt.

Jag vill med den här texten formulera stommen för min konstnärliga praktik. Innehållet kommer i grunden baseras på mina egna iakttagelser, tankar och resonemang om hur jag förhåller mig till att använda mig av ett privat material i min konst. Vad är svårigheterna för mig med att arbeta med ett privat material? Hur viktigt är det för mig att vara tydlig med mitt ärende och redogöra verkens ursprung? Hur förhåller jag mig till att ha kontroll i mitt skapande och i ett uppvisande?

La mer, it means the ocean in French. With the same pronunciation; la mère means the mother. The ocean, the mother. L’amour means love and la mort means death. They are also pronounced in a similar way to each other. The ocean is our mother, love is our death. I don’t speak French, but it symbolises something to all of us, the language of love and passion. la mer l’amour la mort. It was the title of my Masters solo show and of the poetry book I wrote in connection to it. This book is also an appendix to this essay. In the book the first poem is titled la chatte, which means the female cat, or the pussy, to the younger generation. I love to make these semi far fetched connections with language. In this essay I have chosen to include the works of some of my greatest influences and specifically with poems relating to the ocean, love and death. I have chosen to use these texts in the language I first read them to keep the feeling they first gave me. Since I work a lot with translation or mixing between language in my own practice I here find the translator to be an important character of this text.

The essay Ensemble Piece contemplates the nature of how one observes, labours, and translates as active and passive movements, repeated, reconstructed. The text is a companion piece to the installations Silver Tea and Silver Tea Suite. The works discussed in this text make up the installation Silver Tea. A contemplation of forms that kaleidoscopically revolve around each other, whose imagery, methodologies and forms reflect and morph into one another, a looping, repetitious rhythm that is not, however, confined to a circuitous nature. Silver Tea rests in a space and timeframe between suggestion, intention, and intuition, where gestures and their traces have taken on a life of their own.   Silver Tea, a literal translation of the Swedish word silverte, is a misleading phrase. Silverte is, in its essence, simply a cup of hot water, therefore being neither silver, nor in fact, tea. But sometimes language can imbue in an object a sensation more magical than the sum of its parts. Later, thinking back on my early years in Sweden...
