Hur studenter använder blåljusfilter och hur de upplever tekniken / How students use bluelight filters and their experiences with the technology

Lennartsson, Linnéa, Reuterswärd, Hedvig January 2018 (has links)
This article examines and discusses the use of some of the blue light filters available on the market today. It is a quantitative survey conducted to get a result describing how our test subjects use blue light filters today and what they think should be improved for future development. The result is discussed and compared with the theories found in related research. The problem we look into in this essay is “How is blue light filters experienced and used?”. The method used to obtain a result was to send out a survey to 22 blue light filter users. You can see clear connections between users' results and theories that blue light filters help to counteract deterioration of sleep quality due to watching a screen for hours before going to sleep. We also see that many people want improvements in technology such as the ability to make the filter more personal according to their own lifestyle.

Night Shift och sömnkvalitet

Lindkvist, Josef, Barati Bakhtiiari, Sam January 2023 (has links)
This study investigated the blue light filter Night Shift, which is a built-in feature on iPhone devices, and its impact on sleep quality. The study involved 13 students from the Media Technology programme who used an iPhone daily. They were part of an introductory interview and then monitored their sleep for a two-week period. One week, the participants had Night Shift enabled on their iPhones, whilst during the other week, they had Night Shift disabled. After measurements and data analysis, the results showed that the participants' sleep quality was marginally better with Night Shift enabled compared to when it was disabled. Yet, it lacks significance. Due to the marginal difference in sleep quality between having Night Shift on or off and the small group size in the study, no conclusion could be drawn on whether Night Shift was better or worse for sleep quality. Significant results might have been yielded if the study had been more extensive in terms of duration, number of participants, and how controlled the participants’ environments were.

Hagrot, Emma, Harmén, Sofia January 2022 (has links)
This study examines the main reasons behind why media technology students at KTH (Royal Institute of Technology) use blue light blocking filters on their technical devices. Since technical devices are frequently used during the studies of media technology it’s interesting to discover more about the habits in front of the screens and the reason behind those habits. 17 students were interviewed with questions related to their habits with the blue light blocking filter. One part of the interview focused more on their everyday usage while the other part where more focused on the experienced effects after using these filters. The interviews were then summarized and the reasons for the usage could be compiled in order to achieve a ranked list that would answer our question. The main reason why media technology students use blue light blocking filters is because it decreases the strain on the eyes, which increases their comfort in front of the screen. The reason that ended up in second place was in order for the students to develop more healthy sleeping habits. The main reasons why media technology students use blue light blocking filters are also the same reasons why these filters are recommended. The reasons also correspond to the previous research that has been done within this area. These reasons can motivate people that spend a lot of time in front of their screens to implement this habit of using a blue light blocking filter if they experience strained eyes or bad sleeping habits.
