VÝZNAM KOMUNIKACE PRO OSOBY SE ZRAKOVÝM POSTIŽENÍM / THE IMPORTANCE OF COMMUNICATION FOR PERSONS WITH VISUAL IMPAIRMENT

TLAPOVÁ, Jitka January 2010 (has links)
This paper examines the importance of communication for people with visual impairments. Communication is a basic human needs and information is its tool, whose shortage may occur when eyesight is damaged or lost. The beginning of the paper introduces the basic concepts associated with visual impairment and it also presents a historical overview of the issue. The importance of communication intertwines through the following chapters, based on a general description of communication but also its division into non-verbal and verbal communication that is divided into spoken, written and computer-aided communication, with a focus on speech input and output, and other forms of communication. The paper also describes the functions of communication and communication in various fields such as in teaching and working processes, in health care, but also in communication with a social worker. The theoretical part is concluded with a brief mention of communication of people with hearing and speech impediments. The objective of the practical part is to map the views of visually impaired people on the importance of communication in their lives, while finding the most common ways of mediated communication not only in people with visual impairments but also in those without visual impairment. For this purpose, a research, which is further evaluated and discussed in the following chapters, was created. Seven case studies of people with visual impairments, focusing on the history of their visual impairment and on communication, were also elaborated in detail. This paper can be used in TyphloCentres and this paper may also serve to a wide professional public who encounter visual-impaired people during their work.

For this, we seek to know, through the history of humanity, the achievements of rights of the person with visual impairment, addressing the most striking movements for the consolidation of these rights and the fundamental laws for the inclusion and the participation of this public. This dissertation has the challenge of maintaining the centrality in the ―person‖ in all the presented content, beginning by the nomenclature, the work presents a content that facilitates to understand the reality of the person with visual impairment. To know this reality was necessary to gather information about of essential resources to the process of autonomy and independence. And at the same time relating it with the access that is given for the person that has visual impairment can acquire resources and equipments. At the end of the dissertation, the discussion is focused in the question of comprehend what is the social protection, basing it in the conception of authors, in the practice of performance of charities and in the National Police of Social Assistance PNAS. Another important factor was raised of what is put in PNAS for people with visual impairment. Were also raised, through interviews, which are the services that the philanthropic organizations that make part of this project, offer to people with visual impairment. Therefore, it s a study based in the reality of the access that the person with visual impairment have to goods and services, also addressing how the social-assistance network has been an ally in the consolidation of rights of the visually impaired person / A presente dissertação estuda a pessoa com deficiência visual e a proteção social disponível para ela na cidade de São Paulo, tendo como foco as leis existentes e o trabalho realizado por meio de organizações sem fins lucrativos.

Berretta, Luciana de Oliveira 13 May 2015 (has links)
The inability to navigate independently is one of the most significant handicaps due by blindness. Many difficulties can be faced when visually impaired people (VIP) need to visit new and unknown places. Our approach is to use locomotion simulation interface to allow a natural exploration way of virtual environment (VE) to assist VIP to create cognitive maps efficiently, and thereby to enhance their mobility skill. A computer system, called SACEC Assist System Spatial Cognition in the Blind, was developed using virtual reality techniques and natural interaction. The system allows the modeling of two-dimensional or three-dimensional virtual environments, and it is possible to reproduce actual environments such as schools, universities and others points of interest. The interaction with the virtual environment is based on the recognition of poses, which are interpreted as actions such as walking, turning, or front and side touch, and feedback sounds are sent to user. In order to review and validation of the developed system and the proposed interface tests are performed with actual VIPs, men and women aged from 18 to 60 years. A result shows the effectiveness of the SACEC in developing cognitive map of the simulated environment, as well the positive feedback shows that the system can be entertaining and pleasant to the participants. Therefore, SACEC has a great potential to be used in aid to Orientation and Mobility (OM) trainings, and thus contribute to greater social inclusion of those people.
