Calculation and strength assessment of a wheel bolt connection for dump trucks

Seil, Andreas 24 May 2023 (has links)
For testing of OTR (Off-The-Road) tires for dump trucks during development, radial loads are applied between the tested tire and a rotating roller drum by using a parallel kinematic wheel guide unit. Additional lateral loads are created by setting a slip angle. The bolt connection between rim and test bench axle must be able to transmit the occurring forces and moments fatigue endurable. Three different procedures for evaluating the bolt connection are compared: Purely analytical evaluation as well as manual and automated evaluation of FEA results. Thereby the frictional connection in the joint and the bending moments in the bolts, resulting from elastic deformation of the components, are identified as the most critical factors. It is shown how these factors are considered in the individual methods and what causes differences in the calculation results. Using various optimization approaches, the bolt connection is designed for fatigue strength.

Dogui, Sami, Sadik, Jegar January 2020 (has links)
This master theses depicts FEM analysis of bolt joints where the focus is on investigating the stressrelationship between plate and bolt. Two bolts, M8 and M16, have been analyzed where they havebeen prestressed to 70 % of the ultimate tensile strength for steel type 8.8. A surface load has beenapplied in tension along the lateral surface of a cylindrical plate. The load distribution between plateand bolt of the external load varies between 2-28 % and 1-99 % for M8 and M16 in comparison to 20% stated in equation 2.7 in SS-EN 1993-1-8.The conclusion of studies shows that the behavior between the bolt and plate is not as previouslythought in SS-EN 1993-1-8. The bolt deforms negatively first when the system is subjected to externalload. This causes the resulting force to decrease. This behavior means that the bolt is designed towithstand larger loads than necessary. The factor 0.2 should be redefined. The authors recommendthat methods proposed by Pedersen and Pedersen [2008] or Haidar et al. [2011] should be used.

Failure Analysis Of Thick Composites

Erdem, Melek Esra 01 February 2013 (has links) (PDF)
A three-dimensional finite element model is constructed to predict the failure of a hybrid and thick laminate containing bolted joints. The results of the simulation are compared with test results. The simulation comprises two main challenging steps. Firstly, for a realistic model, a 3D model is established with geometric nonlinearities and contact is takeninto account. The laminated composite model is constructed by 3D layered elements. The effect of different number of elements through the thickness is investigated. The failure prediction is the second part of the simulation study. Solutions with and without progressive failure approach are obtained and the effect of progressive failure analysis for an optimum simulation of failure is discussed. The most appropriate failure criteria to predict the failure of a thick composite structure is also investigated by considering various failure criteria. By comparing the test results with the ones found from the finite element analyses, the validity of the developed model and the chosen failure criteria are discussed.

Poruchy mostních závěrů - prognóza jejich životnosti / Defects of the bridge expansion joints - durability and expected lifetime

Daňa, Jan January 2013 (has links)
This thesis discusses the types of bridge expansion joints certified for use in the Czech Republic and their disorders. The first part was a theoretical evaluation of expansion joint failures. The second part focused on clarifying the failure of anchor bolts at the cantilever expansion joint. On the basis of determining the cause was then designed a method for determining the durability of expansion joints. Prognosis life cycles corresponds records according to administrator- repair works.

Aplikace vstřikovacího systému s tlakovým zásobníkem na vznětový šestiválcový motor / Application of Pressure Accumulator Injection System on Six-cylinder CI Engine

Pacovský, Tomáš January 2011 (has links)
This master's thesis deals with application of modern injection system Common Rail on six-cylinder CI engine. One of aims of thesis is to get a large overview of pressure accumulator injection system and explore the development in this area. Among main aims of the thesis belong a new construction layout in Pro/Engineer, accomplishing of static and dynamic analyse of most important parts via the finite element method (FME) and necessary control calculations. Finally, the design documentation of new most essential designed parts will be made. During making the thesis necessary source materials obtained from Vývojový ústav traktorů a.s. of Zetor Group company was made use of.

Nosná konstrukce vícepodlažní budovy / Load bearing structure of a multi storey building

Janči, Michal January 2016 (has links)
Diploma thesis deals with the design and assessment of the load bearing structure of a multi-storey building, proposed by the combination of two materials, steel and glued laminated timber. The building has a V-shape, the angle between legs is 120 °. Floor plan dimensions of one arm of the building are approximately 40x20m, building height is 24.3 meters. The building is designed with a flat green roof. The load bearing structure is solved as a heavy frame, lower three floors are made of steel and serves as the business premises, top four floors are residential, and their structure is designed of the glued laminated timber. Bracing of the whole structure is solved by a system of crossed steel rods.

Vícepodlažní budova / Multi-storey building

Jetonický, Pavel January 2013 (has links)
The subject of the master´s thesis is the design and assessment of the static load-bearing steel structure office building. It is an eight-storey building with a floor plan and dimensions 54x15m. The proposal has three variants. In one of them a steel frame with a hinge attached elements. These are the pillars, beams, trusses, joists and purlins, which are coupled with trapeze plate and thereby secure the stability of the position in the horizontal direction. The steel structure is placed between the reinforced concrete towers.

Výstavní galerie v Olomouci / The Exhibition Gallery in Olomouc

Morcinková, Eliška January 2016 (has links)
The aim of this diploma thesis is the design of bearing construction of the Exhibition gallery in Olomouc. The building is of irregular shape with the biggest span of 50 m. The bearing structure in the highest point goes up to 14,6 m. The main design material is the glue-laminated timber GL24h and GL32h. The optimization of chosen parts of the structure has been made and the best option was then used in the detailed structural calculation. The bearing structure consists of circular columns to which the floor beams and roof trusses are connected. The irregular structure of the gallery comprises of three different roof types – flat trafficable roof, double-pitched glass roof formed by pitched cambered trusses and single-pitch roof spanning over the central part of a 20,7 m span. Within the thesis the design and check of the main structure members and connections has been made. The entire structure is pinned and its stiffness is secured by the system of tension rods and rigid floor and roof construction respectively.
