Evaluation du comportement mécanique sous sollicitations thermohydriques d'un mur multimatériaux (bois, terre crue, liants minéraux) lors de sa construction et de son utilisation / Evaluation of the mechanical behavior under thermo-hydric stresses of a multimaterial wall (wood, earth, mineral binders) during its construction and its use

Laou, Lamyaa 13 November 2017 (has links)
Global climate problems push us to design energy-saving constructive systems. The use of walls made of eco-materials (wooden frame with a filling of brick of raw earth and assembled by mineral mortar) appears as an interesting alternative solution being in linewith the objectives in terms of sustainable development. In order to use a numerical simulation approach to this type of constructive system, a thermo-hydro-mechanical modeling tool was developed. On the one hand, it aims to predict the wall's ability to regulate the ambient hygrothermal conditions during day / night alternations according to the different ventilation assumptions and, on the other hand, to identify the various scenarios described in terms of temperature which can induce the appearance of cracks in the wall, both during construction and operating conditions. The originality of the work carried out on the properties of the raw earth make us able to develop a multidisciplinary experimental campaign to characterize the thermal, hydric and mechanical properties under different humidity conditions. These properties feed the numerical model with the necessary adaptations presented. The results present both the impact on hygrothermal comfort and to the effect of humidity changes on the mechanical durability of the wall.

Centrum duševního zdraví / Mental Health Center

Mikulášová, Natália January 2022 (has links)
The aim of this diploma thesis is a design of a new mental health center. The mental health center is a brand new low-treshold element in the system for people with mental ilness. The building is located in Prague, Hrdlořezy, district of the Capital City of Prague. The building is a detached house, it has three floors, and one partial underground level. On the first floor, there is an entrance hall, administrative facilities, a bed unit, a dining area and last but not least, space for group and individual therapies. On the second and third floor, there are again bed units, administrativ facilities, but also space for leisure activities. The basement of the building consists of the technical backround of the building together with storage space. The proposed building is made up of cubic masses forming a rectangular floor plan with large undercovered atrium penetrating the center of the entire building. The building is designed as a monolithic reinforced concrete skeleton [frame on a base slab]. The skeleton infill masonry is designed from clay blocks. The roofing of this building is designed with a flat green vegetation roof.

Jan van der Heyden's Bricks: Art, Technology, and the City

Landsman, Rozemarijn January 2023 (has links)
This dissertation offers a new reading of Jan van der Heyden’s art through an analysis of his depiction of bricks. The minuteness with which the artist rendered bricks is frequently mentioned, their significance however, both in relation to his art and in relation to the early modern Dutch city has largely gone unnoticed. This in-depth study of Van der Heyden’s work and methods not only enriches our understanding of his paintings, but also stresses that his practice as an artist was fundamentally linked to his work as an inventor of technology. Both in his art and inventions Van der Heyden exhibited a profound interest in materials, experimentation, and the urban fabric. Additionally, this study has implications for our interpretation of the Dutch seventeenth-century painted cityscape more broadly. Cityscapes have rarely been examined in light of art theoretical treatises. Van der Heyden’s art, as well as the earliest known commentaries on his paintings however, underscore that such lack of interest is unfounded. Van der Heyden’s bricks, it will appear throughout these chapters, are an embodiment of his broad interests and wide-raging skills. They give expression to both theory and practice, as well to the formation of a Dutch identity. In Van der Heyden’s bricks, therefore, we recognize his interest in and contributions to art, technology, and the city.

On large and small torsion pairs

Sentieri, Francesco 30 June 2022 (has links)
Torsion pairs were introduced by Dickson in 1966 as a generalization of the concept of torsion abelian group to arbitrary abelian categories. Using torsion pairs, we can divide complex abelian categories in smaller parts which are easier to understand. In this thesis we discuss torsion pairs in the category of modules over a finite-dimensional algebra, in particular we explore the relation between torsion pairs in the category of all modules and torsion pairs in the category of finite-dimensional modules. In the second chapter of the thesis, we present the analogue of a classical theorem of Auslander in the context of τ-tilting theory: for a finite-dimensional algebra the number of torsion pairs in the category of finite-dimensional modules is finite if and only if every brick over such algebra is finite- dimensional. In the third chapter, we revisit the Ingalls-Thomas correspondences between torsion pairs and wide subcategories in the context of large torsion pairs. We provide a nice description of the resulting wide subcategories and show that all such subcategories are coreflective. In the final chapter, we describe mutation of cosilting modules in terms of an operation on the Ziegler spectrum of the algebra.

Římská stavební terakota v oblasti mezi Vindobonou a Brigetiem a v sousedních nadlimitních oblastech / Roman building terracottas between Vindobona and Brigetio and along Danubian Limes (1.-4. Century AD)

Janek, Tomáš January 2014 (has links)
This work deals with roman building terracotas in the area between Vindobona and Brigetio and along Danubian Limes. The first part describes manufacturing of roman bricks, inscriptions, marks and stamps which are used on them. Second part summarizes finds of roman bricks alongside roman buildings on limes romanus. In the third part is considered metodology of research, also there is a focus on Petrological analyses and support of computer software. In this section are tested new ways of comparing of brickstamps with the help of morphometry and accurate measuerment of the stamps. Last part focuses on production and distribution of building material mainly trough river roads. In the end I calculated needed ammount of building material along with the time of production and the time of transportation to the roman forts.
