An Application Framework for Monitoring Care ProcessesBaarah, Aladdin January 2014 (has links)
Care process monitoring is important in healthcare domains to provide precise and detailed analytics on patients, providers, and resources participating in a care process and their status. These analytics are used to keep track of whether the quality of care goals set by healthcare organizations are satisfied and ensure that legislative and organizational guidelines are followed. The complexity of care process monitoring can vary depending on whether the care process takes place in a hospital or out in the community, and it can vary depending on the complexity of the information technology infrastructure that is in place to support the care process.
A Care Process Monitoring Application (CPMA) is a software application which collects and integrates data from various sources while a care process is being provided, in order to provide performance reporting of metrics that are used to measure how well the performance goals and guidelines for the care process are being met. In our research, we have studied how CPMAs are built in order to improve the quality of their engineering. The significant challenge in this context is how to engineer a CPMA so that the engineering process is repeatable, produces a CPMA of consistent high quality, and requires less time, less effort and less complexity.
This thesis proposes an application framework for care process monitoring that collects and integrates events from event sources, maintains the individual and aggregate states of the care process and populates a metrics data mart to support performance reporting. Our contributions are the following: a state-based application meta-model of care process monitoring, a care process monitoring architectural pattern, and finally, a behavior driven development methodology for CPMAs based on our meta-model and architectural pattern.
Our results are validated through three different case studies in which we collaborated with two different health care organizations to build and deploy CPMAs for two different care processes (one hospital-based, the other community-based) in collaboration with healthcare clinicians and researchers.

Dopad procesní a datové integrace na efektivitu reportingu / Impact of the process and data integration on reporting efficiencySys, Bohuslav January 2013 (has links)
Nowadays, when the difference between failure and success is amount of the available information combined with exponential growth of the available information on web leads to rising need to track the quality of the data. This worldwide trend is not only global, but it affects even individuals and companies in particular. In comparison with the past these companies produce higher amount of data, which are more complex at the same time, all to get a better idea about the real world. This leads us to the main problem, when we not only need to gather the data, but we have to present them in such way, so they can serve the purpose for which they have been gathered. Therefore the purpose of this thesis is to focus on processes following the data gathering -- data quality and transformation processes. In the first part of the thesis we will define a basic concept and issues, followed by methods necessary for acquiring requested data in expected quality, which includes the required infrastructure. In the second part of the thesis we will define real-life example and use the knowledge from previous part to design usable solution and deploy it into use. In conclusion we will evaluate the design compared to the result acquired from its real-life utilization.

Financial market monitoring and surveillance systems framework : a service systems and business intelligence approachDiaz Solis, David Alejandro January 2012 (has links)
The thesis introduces a framework for analysing market monitoring and surveillance systems in order to provide a common foundation for researchers and practitioners to specify, design, implement, compare and evaluate such systems. The proposed framework serves as a reference map for researchers and practitioners to position their work in the context of market monitoring and surveillance, resulting in a useful instrument for the analysis, testing and management of such systems. More specifically, the thesis examines the new requirements for the operation of financial markets, the role of technologies, the recent consultations on the structure and governance of EU and US markets, as well as, future usage scenarios and emerging technologies. It examines the context in which market monitoring and market surveillance systems are currently been used. It reports on their processes, performance, and on the organisational and regulatory environments in which they exist. Furthermore, it develops a set of taxonomies which cover the majority of the concepts of market manipulation, market monitoring, market surveillance, entities, technologies and actors that are relevant for the work in this thesis. Building on the gaps and limitations of the current systems, it proposes a new framework following the Design Science methodology. The usefulness of the framework is evaluated through four critical case studies, which not only help to understand with practical exercises the way how markets monitoring and surveillance systems work, but also to investigate their weaknesses, potential evolution and ways to improve them. For each case study, the thesis develops a fully working prototype tested using a sample prosecution case and evaluated in terms of the appropriateness and suitability of the proposed framework. Finally, implications relating to policies, procedures and future market structures are discussed followed by suggestions for future research.

Estruturas de gestão de informações para inteligência de negócio nas organizações e o impacto individual nas atividades / Management structures of information for business intelligence in organizations and the individual impact on activitiesSergio Augusto Orfão Pinto 06 September 2012 (has links)
Information systems for business intelligence are designed to collect, organize, prepare and make available information related to internal processes and external environment of organizations. The use of this information is intended to support the process of decision making, business management and innovation of the processes of organizations. Thus, this class of information systems (BI) has the potential to improve individual and organizational performance, being a source of competitive advantage for organizations. The approach to deploy and sustain this class of information of system (BI) cannot be only a sequence of individual projects to make available information required during the scope phase of the project. Demand and delivery management of information necessary for the business requires an ongoing effort to maintain the function of BI aligned with the needs of the organization, through processes that ensure the information availability, use of shared information, information analysis across the organization based on the same concepts, documentation and organization of information, as well as support and training in technical and functional aspects of the systems. In this context, it has emerged the competence centers of information for BI, as a support organization for all areas of business, being the liaison between the area of information technology and the various areas of the company for corporate management of Information. This study proposes to operationalize a framework to classify the structures of information management for BI that are normally found in organizations and check the effect of each type of structure in the perceived quality of the information provided to the business areas as well the impact on individual activities for organizations that use BI systems. It was performed a quantitative study in three organizations, each one composing a sample of each type of management structure information. With the application of the statistical technique of PLS, it was possible to obtain the effects between variables QI (Quality of Information), QGI (Quality of Information Management) and II (Individual impact), moderated by the variable called \"type of information management structure\". Despite having been obtained statistically significant differences between the samples, in other words, that the influence of QGI and QI on II statistically vary according to the type of information management structure, the absolute differences of the effects were small between the respective structures adopted in each organization. However, the results obtained in this exploratory study suggest the need to research a larger number of organizations with multiple cases for each type of structure, in order to identify whether there is consistency in the effect of the moderating variable on the other variables among different types of organizations.
