Lindberg, Marcus, Isberg, Joakim January 2019 (has links)
The Swedish   healthcare system today has longer queues than before, low treatment rates   and lack of accessibility, treatment and service. Business Intelligence   System (BIS) purpose is to support organizations and businesses in different   types of decision-making that in turn can make the operations more efficient.   The purpose of this thesis is to develop and test a model that describes the   effects that BIS have on the healthcare system according to previous research   on Swedish healthcare staff and their experiences of these systems. The study   has been carried out through qualitative interviews with respondents who work   with BIS in the Swedish healthcare system. A model developed from previous   research has according to the purpose of this study been developed and tested   against the collected empirical data to see if the effects that the previous   research has identified are in line with what Swedish healthcare staff has identified.   The entire model which consists of BIS basic functionality and BIS effects on   healthcare has been tested against another respondent who did not participate   on any interview but instead performed a thorough analysis of the whole   model. What were tested by this respondent were the model’s flow, structure   and constituents. The result of this study came to the conclusion that the   basic functionality of the model developed and the identified effects are in   accordance with the effects identified by the Swedish healthcare staff they   receive from the BIS within their work.

Factors That Drive the Selection of Business Intelligence Tools in South African Financial Services Providers

Gina, Bonginkosi Phila 10 August 2021 (has links)
Innovation and technology advancements in information systems (IS) result in multiple product offerings and business intelligence (BI) software tools in the market to implement business intelligence systems (BIS). As a result, a high proportion of organisations fail to employ appropriate and suitable software tools meeting organisational needs, resulting in a prime number of BI solution failures and abandoned projects are therefore recorded. Due to such project failures, benefits associated with BI are not realised hence organisations loose enormous investments on BI solutions and competitive advantage. The study aims at discovering and exploring critical factors influencing the selection of BI tools when embarking on the selection process. This is a quantitative research study and questionnaire surveyed data was collected from 92 participants working in South African financial services providers listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) appearing in the top 100 based on market capitalization. The data was analysed quantitative by employing the use of SPSS and SmartPLS-3 software's to test the significance of influential factors using the proposed conceptual model that emerged from the literature. The findings showed that a combination of domain technical and non-technical factors is critical. Therefore, software tool technical factors (functionality, ease of use, compatibility, availability of an integrated hardware/software package, and availability of source code), vendor technical factors (availability of technical support, technical skills, quality of product, availability of user manual for important information, tutorial for learning and troubleshooting guide, and experience in using product developed by the same vendor), and opinion non-technical factors (end-users, subordinates, outside personnel acquaintances, and improvement in customer service) emerged as significant combination of influential factors to be considered. The study contributes to both academia and industry by providing influential determinants for software tool selection. It is hoped that the findings presented will contribute to a greater understanding of factors influencing the selection of BI tools to researchers and practitioners alike. Furthermore, organisations seeking to select and deliver appropriate BI tools will be better equipped to drive such endeavours.

From Data to Decisions: Decisive Factors Influencing Swedish IT SMEs Adoption of Business Intelligence Systems

Nilfouroushan, Shayan, Almohtasib, Tarik January 2023 (has links)
Research Question: Which are the decisive factors that impact the adoption of business intelligence systems (BIS) among IT SMEs in Sweden? Purpose: This paper aims to examine Swedish SMEs and understand which decisive factors have an impact on the decision makers and their adoption of BIS. This study aims to study SMEs that have already adopted BIS. Method: A deductive qualitative approach was used to answer the study’s research question. The primary data was conducted through seven semi-structured interviews with Swedish IT SMEs. Empirical Findings: The empirical findings highlight that some factors had a greater influence on the adoption of BIS than others. These were possession of the right type of data, support of top management and service provider support. Conclusion: The presented study identified that small and medium sized enterprises are prone to BIS adoption when considering three decisive factors. First, the importance of possessing data and having the right type of data was a critical need and a factor for BIS adoption. Second, the use of service provider support for SMEs seemed to contribute with important value according to the findings. Third, working proactively with change management affected the perceived usefulness of technology and led to a higher chance of small and medium sized adopting BIS.
