Informationsspridning genom olika kanaler och medium i en organisation / Dissemination of information through various channels and media within an organizationJernberg, Adam January 2016 (has links)
Today information dissemination is completely different comparing to both five and twenty years ago, and as the technology develops, so does our way of accessing information. In many workplaces information dissemination is a key process and previous research has shown that effective information sharing increases the potential for the company to develop. This study has examined how information ought to be communicated to cowerkers within a company. A distinction has been made between channel and medium and has made it possible to determine how information is being notified and how information is being presented. This has led to a result showing that coworkers prefers information being presented orally, and that it is a difference when the same information is being notified. The study is based on a case study within a company active in the electrical and engineering industry. A qualitative interview and a quantitative survey has made it possible to generate a clear picture of how the information dissemination looks like in the specified company.

The Economics of Geographic and Demographic Heterogeneity in Digitally Transformed MarketsMohammed S Alyakoob (7042784) 12 August 2019 (has links)
<div>The digital transformation of markets can remove traditional geographic restrictions, democratizing access to previously unattainable products, and enable individuals to extract rent from their personal assets. However, these digital innovations often have competitors and complementors that are not immune to the impact of local factors such as the local market structure, economic condition, and even demographics. This dissertation examines the geographic and demographic heterogeneity driven disparities in two digitally transformed markets, the financial and accommodations sectors respectively.</div><div><br></div><div>First, we study the impact of local financial market competition in managing online peer-to-peer loans. With the boom of financial technologies (FinTech), a critical question is whether the local financial market structure still matters. Unlike traditional retail financial institutions that are predominantly territorial, FinTech-based platforms, in particular peer-to-peer (P2P) lending, provide individuals equal access to funds by removing typical geographic restrictions. Combined with other benefits such as ease-of-use and lower interest rates, P2P lenders are increasingly threatening the traditional local lenders. A largely unanswered question in the literature is whether the local retail financial institutions strategically respond to the rise of such P2P platforms. Moreover, if the strategic reaction of traditional institutions continues the legacy of being territorial, borrowers will ultimately gain unevenly from the competition. That is, where a borrower lives may still matter. In this chapter, we devise multiple strategies to empirically analyze the extent and nature of the strategic response of traditional institutions to P2P lending. This includes: (1) utilization of a Probit model that leverages the richness of our local market data and (2) exploitation of bank mergers as exogenous shocks to local market structure. We find consistently that a borrower from a more competitive market is more likely to prepay, suggesting that local market structure plays a pivotal role in P2P borrowers' debt management. We validate the underlying mechanism by studying the improving credit profiles of borrowers and platforms' (exogenous) changes in pricing in moderating the main effect. This mechanism reveals that traditional banks, especially when their local market conditions support, credibly responds to the growth of P2P and are successful in attracting consumers back to traditional financial products. Relatedly, we document heterogeneity in the benefits that borrowers gain from the local market structure (using a machine learning algorithm) and verify the robustness of our main findings. We discuss the implications for P2P lending, other crowd-based markets, and local retail financial markets.</div><div><br></div><div>Second, we examines the heterogeneous economic spillover effects of a home sharing platform---Airbnb---on the growth of a complimentary local service---restaurants. By circumventing traditional land-use regulation and providing access to underutilized inventory, Airbnb is attracting visitors of a city to vicinities that are not traditional tourist destinations. Although visitors generally bring significant spending power, it is, however, not clear if the visitors use Airbnb primarily for lodging, thus, not contributing to the adjacent vicinity economy. To evaluate this, we focus on the impact of Airbnb on the restaurant employment growth across vicinities in New York City (NYC). Our results indicate that if the intensity of Airbnb activity (Airbnb reviews per household) increases by 1\%, the restaurant employment in an average area grows by approximately 1.03\%. We also investigate the role of demographics and market concentration in driving the variation. Notably, restaurants in areas with a relatively high number of Black residents do not benefit from the economic spillover of Airbnb activity. Also, restaurants in more competitive areas reap the benefit from this spillover most. We validate the underlying mechanism behind the main result by evaluating the impact of Airbnb on Yelp visitor reviews -- areas with increasing Airbnb activity experience a surge in their share of NYC visitor reviews. This result is further validated by evaluating the impact of a unique Airbnb neighborhood level policy recently implemented in New Orleans. </div>

Strategic information systems planning and environmental uncertainty : the case of South African small, micro and medium enterprises.Musangu, Luka Marcel. January 2010 (has links)
Thesis (MTech. degree in Business Information Systems.)--Tshwane University of Technology, 2010. / The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between strategic information system planning (SISP) and environmental uncertainty in the South African small, micro and medium enterprises (SMME) sector. The independent variable was strategic information systems planning process (SISPP) with five phases, namely: strategic awareness, situation analysis, strategy conception, strategy formulation and strategy implementation. The results suggested that some SISPP phases are more effective in different environments, and these phases can lead to SISPS. For example, strategy implementation was fully supported in the context of this study, which means that more strategy implementation leads to SISPS in SMMEs. The South African SMME sector is not immune to the influence of environmental uncertainty.

An evaluation of e–Government as a support system in public schools / Knuppe P.J.Knuppe, Peter Johan January 2011 (has links)
The objective of the study was to develop a framework for the implementation
of a Business Information Management System in order to increase the
efficiency of the knowledge management strategy in the ultimate quest to
deliver administrative support to public schools at the Gauteng Department of
Education within the Sedibeng East District Office geographical area. A
literature investigation was done on the concepts of e–Government, eplatforms,
information technology and enablers to determine if Government
models are working effectively and efficiently. Based on the findings of the
literature study, a questionnaire was designed and used to measure the
efficiency of the knowledge management strategy in the base of
administrative support to public schools.
Government to Government models are the ability to interact and support
services through the availability of e–platforms in the ultimate support, and
sharing of knowledge through effective knowledge management. Knowledge
in an organisation alternates between tacit and explicit knowledge as it goes
from an idea to explicit knowledge that can be shared throughout the whole
organisation and in the process gives the necessary administrative support to
public schools and learners. Proper managed and implemented systems are
important for the management of knowledge in an organisation. Knowledge
management is a never–ending cycle that starts at discovering knowledge and
goes through generating knowledge, evaluating knowledge, sharing the newly
found knowledge to leveraging the knowledge. This cycle forms the heart of a
knowledge management model like the different education e–platforms that is
available. It was concluded that the knowledge in an organisation can be
managed with the help of one standardized e–platform model throughout the
entire Education Department. Knowledge in an organisation is a very
important resource and ought to be strategically managed. The knowledge
management strategy starts by determining what knowledge is needed and
what is available in the organisation. The chosen standardized model will
form the central part of a successful knowledge management strategy. The
test for the success of a knowledge management strategy is determined with
a knowledge audit.
The state of the knowledge management strategy at Gauteng Department of
Education, Sedibeng East District Office was assessed by employing
convenience survey questionnaires to extract the data. Sedibeng East District
Office and therefore the Department of Education, still have a long way to go
in order to optimise the management of knowledge. The key area of concern
is a lack of a written knowledge management strategy and policy which
results in informal e–platform usage and therefore different ways of managing
knowledge. A large portion of the indecisiveness seen in the analysis of the
questionnaires could be attributed to the lack of a formal knowledge
management strategy. It was further concluded that a knowledge gap
assessment is the start of the knowledge management strategy and will give
direction to the strategy. The culture at Sedibeng East District Office was not
tested to determine if the staff will be supportive of a knowledge management
strategy. However, the survey indicated that much needed administrative
support to public schools needs to be formalized in order to optimize the
services and standards of support. A practical knowledge management
framework is proposed in order to assist the Department in the
implementation of a knowledge management strategy and bridging the gaps
found after analysing the questionnaires. / Thesis (M.B.A.)--North-West University, Potchefstroom Campus, 2012.

The application of project management tools and techniques in ICT SME projects in Western CapeChauma, Crecencia Naison January 2017 (has links)
Thesis (MTech (Business Administration))--Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2017. / Introduction
The research looked at the application of project management tools and techniques in ICT
SME projects in the Western Cape.
Problem Statement
Previous literature revealed that small to medium enterprises (SMEs) are vital to developing
economies as they provide employment and contribute to overall sustainable economic
productivity. Literature further alludes that project management tools and techniques enhance
SME’s ability to innovate, grow and compete in industry. However, it is unclear if ICT SMEs in
Western Cape are applying project management tools and techniques in their projects.
Therefore, this study aimed to investigate whether ICT SMEs in Western Cape applied these
tools and techniques in their projects.
Aims / Objectives
The primary objective of the research was to determine the extent to which ICT SMEs in
Western Cape were using project management tools and techniques. The secondary research
objectives were: to determine the extent to which ICT SMEs in Western Cape knew about the
project management tools and techniques and how to use them; to establish the extent to
which the ICT SMEs knew the benefits of using project management tools and techniques; and
to determine the extent to which project management tools and techniques were used by
SMEs to achieve success.
Methodology
The research was non experimental. An electronic questionnaire was distributed using Survey
Monkey and Mail Chimp to collect responses. Some questionnaires were hand delivered to ICT
SMEs based in the Cape Town CBD areas accessible to the researcher. The results presented
in the research were based on a survey of ICT SMEs, located in Western Cape. Out of the 341
responses targeted a total of 210 responses were obtained. The results obtained represent 60-
70% of the population interviewed. The sample was chosen using stratified random sampling
that classified the respondents according to organisational hierarchy, and the amount per
strata was noted. The respondents within each stratum were chosen using simple random
sampling thus eliminating bias.

Aplikace Green IT do podnikových informačních systémů / Green IT applications for business information systemsHamšík, Marek January 2017 (has links)
The thesis is dealing with the concept of Green IT (reffered to, in some of the documents, as the Green ICT) and its relation to the MMDIS methodology. The term Green IT appears in connection to the sustainable development of information systems of organizations and companies. The thesis is dealing with the concept of Green IT (reffered to, in some of the documents, as the Green ICT) and its relation to the MMDIS methodology. The term Green IT appears in connection to the sustainable development of information systems of organizations and companies. The thesis introduction explains this concept, and then describes its historical development, status, metrics, and legislation related to it. Further, the reader is made familiar with the enterprise/company/notsure information systems and their architecture, efficiency and benefits they have for the companies. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the issue of MMDIS, and briefly introduces it to the readers. The next part of the thesis then compares selected countries, Europe, UK and China, in terms of their legislation concerning the environment and Green IT. At the end of this chapter there is a comparison of these countries through the use of the so-called green metrics. The the second to last part of the thesis is then devoted to recherche of different frameworks for the implementation of Green IT into the company, from their analysis I then formulate steps that should help businesses with the implementation of Green IT. The last part assesses the continuity of Green IT on the MMDIS methodology, both in terms of the dimensions, and also in terms of the stages of the application lifecycle.
