Study & Sing: A Music Class for Home Education Students

The Study & Sing curriculum is designed (1) to provide homeschooling high school students with a music resource that is easy to access and incorporate within their homeschool environment; (2) to facilitate meaningful and effective music instruction by designing a music class for a qualified music teacher to use within cooperative homeschool groups; (3) to offer homeschooling families a comprehensive music class that closely follows the National Core Arts Standards for music education; and (4) to provide a music class for homeschool co-op students that offers a comprehensive design and fosters collaborative music experiences by integrating a performance component that corresponds with the academic music material. This curriculum is an eight-week unit study that explores Early-to-Mid American Music ranging from the 17th century to the early-20th century. The course will be offered synchronously in person within a homeschool cooperative setting and aligns with national music standards by offering a comprehensive approach that incorporates academic music components (Study) with corresponding music performance elements (Sing). Class materials with be easily accessible, enabling students to download the course materials including listening examples, weekly presentations, and links for sheet music, and music teachers will be able to access and download weekly lesson plans with guided instruction and slide presentations. Student comprehension of the unit study material will be assessed through integrated activities and corresponding quizzes during weeks 2-7 and individual prepared presentations in week 7. In the final week of the class, students will sing together in a multi-part choral ensemble and will perform music arrangements adapted from original melodies that they learned and practiced together during the unit study.

Culture centre Björkhagen

The thesis project Culture centre Björkhagen investigates how to rebuild and make additions to an unused central heating building in Björkhagen and transform it into a new culture centre. During recent years the area has been under great expansion with new residential buildings and many new inhabitants. Even if this has been carefully planned and executed by Stockholm municipality, no new public places where people can meet has been planned or built. By re-building this unused central heating building into a new public space, the new and old inhabitants get a place to meet. This characteristic small industrial building gets saved and by re-building instead of building new, the ecological footprint is hugely reduced. To help the new program I am adding a series of objects and make small adjustments to the building structure so that it can function as a public space. Doing much by doing little.

Družstevnictví jako jeden z možných nástrojů ekonomického konceptu Steady-State / Cooperative as one of the possible tools of the economic concept of Steady-State

The thesis analyzes the theory of Steady-State Economy based on a research of literature as well as principles and starting points for its application in practice. The central question revolves around the viability of the theory. First, however, the thesis focuses on the context, i.e. the background and needs for the emergence of this theory. Thus, the research begins at a time of industrial revolution and the rise of modern economies. In the course of the research, the analysis also points out the phenomenon of cooperatives, which arise in the early days of industrialization, as examined at the start of the work. Later, after a comprehensive introduction of the steady-state economy theory, the thesis returns to cooperatives, as during the research certain parallels in both of the phenomena emerge. Consequently, the conclusion recapitulates and examines whether steady state economy has been proven to be viable, what could support its functioning and whether one of the answers might be cooperatives - considered they have been shown to realize certain assumptions of this economic theory in practice. After a review of criticism of both of the phenomena, a final evaluation and decision may be reached, i.e. the research questions may be answered.
