Posouzení růstu hříbat / The rating of the growing foalsKUBŮ, Romana January 2007 (has links)
The aim of this thesis was to judge a growth level of colts of the czech warm-blood under different conditions of breeding stations. 278 colts bred at testing breeding stations were observed in years 2001-2003. Their growth, exterior and movement mechanics were followed depending upon altitude of breeding stations, varying from 200 to 700 m above the sea level and were evaluated concerning ancestors of the genitor. Growth of 98 colts bred in 3 private keepings was followed and samples of green from 6 localities (24 habitats) in years 2005 and 2006 were analysed.

Sports and the city : the rhetorical construction of civic identity through American football teamsDuda, Emily Jo 03 October 2011 (has links)
Sports fandoms can form a key site of identity formation, particularly as they gather and merge numerous threads of identity, including gender, socio-economic status, and civic affiliation. The connections formed between members of the fandom, the fandom and the team, and the fandom and the place in which it is grounded can be a strong force for social cohesion. This cohesion becomes particularly relevant during times of crisis, when some turn to sports as a unifier. However, these relationships can also be fraught with tensions, within the group and without. Forces such as nostalgia and the ‘othering’ of those outside the group become import methods in creating and sustaining these Andersonian “imaginary communities” of fans, mitigating difference. In examining this process of identity creation, two cities were chosen for their intense team attachments: Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Qualitative analysis of discourses surrounding the teams in these cities reveals the complex ways in which nostalgic fantasies about the team and its relationship to the city are created and maintained, hierarchies of space and time are formed, and the identity of the community is shaped by its relationship to team and city. Analysis of the sporting landscape, created through a complex network of material culture, media, and the repetition of certain fantasy themes, reveals how geography is complexly implicated in the production of sporting fandom. / text

The use of computer simulations on grade eleven learners' performance in plants biodiversity, Mankweng CircuitBodirwa, Kgashane Bethuel January 2020 (has links)
Thesis (M. Ed. (Science Education)) -- University of Limpopo, 2020 / Learners’ performance largely depends on the pedagogy used. This study explored the
use of Computer Simulations (CS) to teach plants biodiversity to grade eleven learners
Mankweng Circuit. A randomised Solomon Four-Group design was used. Sixty-six
learners from two schools equipped with computers were randomly assigned to the
Experimental Group (EG), and 66 learners from two other schools without computers
were the Control Group (CG). A performance pre- and post-test was used to the EG
taught using CS and to the CG taught using Chalk-and-Talk Method (CTM). Also, Focus
Group Discussion Interviews (FGDI) were conducted with 12 learners: six from each of
the EG and the CG to collect information regarding their attitudes towards the methods
used to learn biodiversity. The quantitative data were analysed using a T-test and Analysis
of Variance (ANOVA), while the qualitative data were analysed thematically. The results
show that the learners in the EG performed better than those in the CG (T-test; p < 0.05),
(ANOVA; p < 0.05). Hypothesis one which states that learners in the EG who were taught
using CS will perform better than those in the CG taught using CTM is accepted. Also,
hypothesis two, which states that learners’ performance in the pretest will not vary in the
EG and the CG is accepted. Also, hypothesis three which states that there will be no
statistically significant differences in achievements between boys and girls in the EG is
established. Thus, the CS method is a useful tool to enhance learners’ performance.

Managing learner behaviour: a collective case study of three effective secondary schoolsTiwani, Stormburg Vuyile 11 1900 (has links)
This study deals with the way school principals, educators and learners manage learner
behaviour inside the classrooms, as well as in the entire school for the effective and
uninterrupted realisation of teaching and learning activities.
A qualitative approach was used in this study. The research findings were based on
observations, the analysis of documents, as well as the main and sub-categories that
were formulated from the interview data gathered at the selected schools.
The research confirmed what is already known on learner discipline and discipline
problems.
In the dissertation more attention is given to factors that contribute to misbehaviour, the
impact of misbehaviour on the culture of learning and teaching, and how learner
behaviour should be managed in the classrooms and in the schools in general.
Furthermore, effective measures of managing learner behaviour are explained and a
comprehensive school-wide model of preventing and remediating learner misbehaviour is
also provided. / M. Ed. (Education Management)
