Fogliatto, Aloysio Arthur Becker January 2013 (has links)
This work aims to study the influence of MAG welding process parameters with controlled short-circuit (CSC) metal transfer mode on weld bead geometry. The simple deposition weld tests were performed using a micro controlled power supply and an automatized device which enabled achievement of weld beads with standard conditions on API 5L X65 steel pipe whose inner diameter is 204 mm and thickness is 8 mm. The welding process parameters analyzed were the peak arcing current (Ia1), times (ta1) and (ta2), wire feed speed (W) and welding speed (v). Such parameters were set on Human-Machine Interface (HMI) of the micro controlled power supply and automatized welding device. The weld bead geometric features evaluated were width, reinforcement height and penetration depth. A Central Composite Face- Centred Design of Experiment was performed to obtain the relationship between the process parameters and the weld bead geometric features. Statistical analysis allowed development of mathematical models and they were found appropriate to determine the significance level of the process parameters – and their interactions – on output responses analyzed. Overlap and lack of fusion was detected on weld beads side in 60% of all specimens evaluated. The hypothesis formulated states that the origin of these discontinuities is from specific combination of parameters – high values of Ia1 and low values of ta1 together with usage of a shielding gas with high percentage of Ar – which would lead to lower fusion efficiency on weld bead side. The weld beads were produced with low spatter rates so it can be considered an improvement of the CSC process if compared with conventional short-circuit metal transfer mode. The peak arcing current Ia1 and time ta1 yielded similar effects on width and penetration depth, and it was valid when that parameters were taken both isolated and on interactions with other welding process parameters. The present study also revealed that Ia1 and ta1 are the most important parameters on influencing weld bead geometry, however, there is also strong dependence on a proper adjustment of wire feed speed W to obtain process stability.

The theoretical basis regarding the implementation was based on Tolbert and Zucker (1999) and Burns and Scapens (2000). The adoption study was based on the legitimation mechanisms observed by Scott (1987). The data was based on interviews conducted with eight executives responsible for decision-making of four companies of the group. The analyze of data was based on Bardin (2007) with the support of NVivo software. The analyze of results demonstrated that the implementation of SSC currently belongs to the stage of institutionalization of objectification, based on Tolbert and Zucker (1999), and the codification stage, based on Burns and Scapens (2000). The complete institutionalization did not happen due to a high degree of resistance to the new structure that certain groups demonstrated to higher administration, leading to the decentralization of the processes of accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank collection. Two mechanisms were identified for the adoption process: authorization and acquisition, which confirm the search of company for the legitimation. The main theoretical and empirical contributions of this research related to the understanding of the gaps between the processes of adoption and implementation, through of the identification of resistance key factors and possible reasons to direct actions to the full institutionalization of the SSC, and additionally, of the identification of elements for decision-making, with the purpose of achievement of strategic objectives.

In this model, the administrative processes are usually centralized and the strategic decisions of the corporation are executed in parallel, with a greater focus on the business. The present study analyzes the challenges and opportunities for accounting and finance professionals in a post-deployment CSC environment in a multinational value transport company in Brazil, where transactional activities previously performed on local liability have been integrated into CSC overseas. It presents a review of the literature on the creation of a CSC and the new role of accounting and finance professionals in Brazil in this new post-implementation environment of the CSC. In this way, a research was developed with the professionals who experienced the process of implementation of the CSC in order to know the new attributions of these departments and their contribution to add greater added value to the business through structured researches with the professionals that control the new CSC in the States United and in Brazil Face to Face semi-structured interviews with both the professionals responsible for the control of the finance and accounting departments in Brazil and the Operational departments in which they represent the internal clients of these departments. It was verified that in general the changes in the local activities were minimal, but an important additional time occurred for the development of new activities or improvement of the already existing activities, opening the field for potential improvements by means of the information present in this study and my professional experience where Through the Matrix of Improvement developed in this study could boost the value added to the business in the Accounting and Finance departments in Brazil.

Ocenění podniku CSC Computer Sciences s.r.o. / Evaluation of CSC Computer Sciences s.r.o company

Hajda, Radim January 2014 (has links)
The main goal of this Master's thesis is to estimate the value of the CSC Computer Sciences s.r.o. company to the date of 31st March 2015. To achieve this goal a strategic analysis, financial analysis, analysis of value generators and financial plan has been carried out. In this thesis the assets and the items of income statement have been divided as neccessary and unnecessary for company's operations to achieve more accurate statement of value, these two parts are separately evaluated and then sumed. The evaluation itself has been accomplished using DCF profit two stage method, which is divided into two parts that consist of a 5 year prediction phase and a residual value phase. The company has currently no long-term foreign capital that an interest has to be paid for, so the free cash flow to the firm equals the free cash flow to the equity. The final value of the company is then compared with the book value of assets.

Understanding a Block of Layers in Deep Neural Networks: Optimization, Probabilistic and Tropical Geometric Perspectives

Bibi, Adel 04 1900 (has links)
This dissertation aims at theoretically studying a block of layers that is common in al- most all deep learning models. The block of layers of interest is the composition of an affine layer followed by a nonlinear activation that is followed by another affine layer. We study this block from three perspectives. (i) An Optimization Perspective. Is it possible that the output of the forward pass through this block is an optimal solution to a certain convex optimization problem? We show an equivalency between the forward pass through this block and a single iteration of deterministic and stochastic algorithms solving a ten- sor formulated convex optimization problem. As consequence, we derive for the first time a formula for computing the singular values of convolutional layers surpassing the need for the prohibitive construction of the underlying linear operator. Thereafter, we show that several deep networks can have this block replaced with the corresponding optimiza- tion algorithm predicted by our theory resulting in networks with improved generalization performance. (ii) A Probabilistic Perspective. Is it possible to analytically analyze the output of a deep network upon subjecting the input to Gaussian noise? To that regard, we derive analytical formulas for the first and second moments of this block under Gaussian input noise. We demonstrate that the derived expressions can be used to efficiently analyze the output of an arbitrary deep network in addition to constructing Gaussian adversarial attacks surpassing any need for prohibitive data augmentation procedures. (iii) A Tropi- cal Geometry Perspective. Is it possible to characterize the decision boundaries of this block as a geometric structure representing a solution set to a certain class of polynomials (tropical polynomials)? If so, then, is it possible to utilize this geometric representation of the decision boundaries for novel reformulations to classical computer vision and machine learning tasks on arbitrary deep networks? We show that the decision boundaries of this block are a subset of a tropical hypersurface, which is intimately related to a the polytope that is the convex hull of two zonotopes. We utilize this geometric characterization to shed lights on new perspectives of network pruning.

Epigenetické a cytotoxické účinky inhibitorů histondeacetyláz v kombinaci s cytostatiky na buňky neuroblastomu / Epigenetic and Cytotoxic Effects of Histone Deacetylase Inhibitors in Combination with Cytostatics on Neuroblasma

Abdel Rahman, Mohamed Ashraf Khalil January 2018 (has links)
The enhanced expression of histone deacetylases (HDACs) in a variety of malignancies drew attention to investigate a new category of anti-cancer drugs that are based on the inhibition of those enzymes. Valproic acid (VPA) is a well-known antiepileptic drug that exhibits antitumor activities through inhibition of HDACs class I and IIa. Cancer stem cells (CSCs) have been recognized to drive the tumor growth and progression hence; attention has been given to target this small subpopulation of CSCs rather than the whole bulk tumor cells. CD133 is considered to be a CSC marker in several tumors and its transcription is strongly influenced by epigenetic changes that will be altered upon administration of histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACi) in cancer treatment. Therefore, we evaluated the epigenetic and cytotoxic effects of treatment with 1 mM VPA in combination with other chemotherapeutics and its influence on the expression of CD133 in human neuroblastoma (NB) cell lines. Our results revealed that addition of VPA to DNA-damaging chemotherapeutics induced a synergistic anti-tumor effect that was associated with caspase-3 dependent induction of apoptosis in UKF-NB-4 cells. This synergism was related to the increase of the acetylation status of histones H3 and H4 and was only produced either by...
