A Comparison of Quantitative Skills in Texas Year-round Schools with Texas Traditional Calendar Schools

Cole, Homer W. 05 1900 (has links)
This study analyzed the academic impact of year-round calendar schools as compared with the academic achievement of traditional calendar schools. The population studied was the 1998 public elementary schools in Texas. The academic impact was based upon the 1998 Texas Assessment of Academic Skills (TAAS) test administrated by the Texas Education Agency. The two groups of schools studied were Texas elementary schools that were on a year-round calendar schedule, and the Texas elementary schools on a traditional calendar schedule. Multiple regression statistics were used, in addition to means, and differences between the means of variables. Year-round schools (YRE), when compared to the means of traditional schools, have means lower in math scores (6.16 percent) than traditional schools. Year-round schools have fewer African Americans students (2.78%), White students (21.06%), and special education students (.25%). Year-round schools are higher in population size (72.72students), Economic Disadvantaged students (15.87%), Hispanic students (23.46%), and Mobility (3.23%).

Die Wetteraufzeichnungen des Abtes Mauritius Knauer

Börngen, Michael, Tetzlaff, Gerd 24 November 2016 (has links) (PDF)
The "Hundred Year's Calendar" is based on weather recordings of Mauritius Knauer (1613-1664 ), which worked as an abbot in the upper-Frankish Cistercian monastery Langheim. Between March 1652 and March 1659 almost daily noted observations enable a statistical analysis and - partly even quantitative - the confrontation weather conditions at that time and of today's. Comparisons with notes of further contemporary authors show the scientific value of the Knauer recordings. The observation period falls into the "little ice age" and is characterised by a series very severe winter.

Baxi, Poonam Satish January 1900 (has links)
Master of Science / Department of Computing and Information Sciences / Daniel Andresen / The aim of this project is to develop an Android application for managing and organizing daily activities. Mobile application development is a growing trend in computer industry. Lot of desktop applications is [i.e. are] now becoming available as mobile applications with increasing demand in market. Android is one of the most popular platforms in mobile technology and gives lot of space for creative development as it is open source. There are various discussion forums and official Android development support websites that encourages mobile and tablet application development. The Quick Organizer application provides three main features for managing and organizing everyday tasks. 1. Calendar with smooth navigation buttons and flexible layout to view all calendar events. This calendar synchronizes with Google calendar and calendar application in Android device and allows user to create events in all the user calendar accounts. 2. Notes management for creating new note, viewing all notes for current month and search notes for the user account that synchronizes with the Ever Notes application. 3. Tasks management to create daily to-do lists with deadline for every task. The user can see all the tasks created with clear demarcation between complete and incomplete tasks with help of strike-out tasks when completed.

Les textes ptolémaïques des portes du nord de l'enceinte de Mout à Karnak / The Ptolemaïc texts of the northern doors of the Mut’s Precinct at Karnak

Chun Hung Kee-Hassanein, Janie 07 July 2010 (has links)
The Mut’s texts present a local adaptation of a northern theology originated from Heliopolis, based on parallelism between the heliopolitan demiurgic couple Atum / Temet and the theban monarchic couple Amun / Mut, as well as a transfer of sacred geography. Mut recovers Temet’s mythological prerogatives and worship : Myth of the Wandering Goddess, rituals of Pacifying Sekhmet and of the offering of the drunkness, wich, in the theban context, focus on the protection of Amun’s city and the glory of Victorious-Thebes, assimilated to Mut who protects Amun.

Modes of Power: Time, Temporality, and Calendar Reform by Jesuit Missionaries in Late Imperial China

Blasingame, Ryan S 11 May 2013 (has links)
This work explores the relationship between time, temporality, and power by utilizing interactions between Jesuit missionaries and the Ming and Qing governments of late imperial China as a case study. It outlines the complex relationship between knowledge of celestial mechanics, methods of measuring the passage of time, and the tightly controlled circumstances in which that knowledge was allowed to operate. Just as the Chinese courts exercised authority over time and the heavens, so too had the Catholic Church in Europe. So as messengers of God’s authority, the Jesuits identified the importance of astronomical and temporal authority in Chinese culture and sought to convey the supremacy of Christianity through their mastery of the stars and negotiate positions of power within both imperial governments.
