O presente trabalho teve como objetivo estudar sobre o modo de produção da cerâmicas arqueológicas da T. I. Koatinemo, e desse modo oferecer mais informações sobre o longo e contínuo processo de ocupações indígenas da Amazônia. A partir da caracterização arqueométrica dos fragmentos de vasilhas algumas questões foram investigadas como: quais foram as escolhas das fontes argilosas feitas pelos ceramistas, como foi o processo de manufatura e qual temperatura máxima na qual as peças foram queimadas, bem como sobre qual é a performance final das vasilhas. Os equipamentos utilizados foram a Fluorescência de Raios X, a Difração de Raios X, a Radiografia, a Microscopia Eletrônica de Varredura e a Petrografia. Assim, a partir das características físicas, químicas e mineralógicas das peças, muito pode ser entendido sobre os comportamentos dos antigos ceramistas, bem como sobre os grupos indígenas a que pertenciam. / The present work aimed to study the production process of I. L. Koatinemo\'s archeological ceramics, and thus to offer more information about the long and continuous process of indigenous occupations of the Amazon. From the archaeometric characterization of the pot fragments, some questions were investigated such as: what were the choices of the clay sources doneby the ceramists, the manufacturing process and the maximum quality in which the pieces were burned, as well as what resulted as a final performance of the vessel. The equipments used were X-Ray Fluorescence, X-Ray Diffraction, Radiography, Scanning Electron Microscopy and Petrography. Thus, from the physical, chemical and mineralogical characteristics of the pieces, much could be understood about the behaviors of the ceramists, as well as about the indigenous groups that they belonged to.

Este trabalho apresenta os resultados do estudo inicial das características tecnológicas do material cerâmico arqueológico coletado na Terra Indígena (T. I.) Kaiabi, localizada na região do baixo rio Teles Pires (Mato Grosso/Pará). Esta área ainda é bastante desconhecida do ponto de vista arqueológico, inserindo-se em um contexto que se relaciona tanto com o Brasil Central como com a Amazônia Meridional, tendo sido palco de ocupações e deslocamentos de diferentes populações indígenas ao longo do tempo. Para compreender melhor o que siginificam os conjuntos cerâmicos neste contexto, analisamos o material cerâmico com base na noção de cadeia operatória de produção cerâmica (Lemonnier) e nas características de performance dos materiais e objetos (Schiffer e Skibo), entendendo que para cada operação dentro da sequência de produção existe uma escolha feita pela ceramista que é determinada a partir de princípios culturalmente definidos, revelando diferentes modos de se fazer cerâmica, os chamados estilos tecnológicos. / This paper presents the results of the initial study of the technological characteristics of the archaeological ceramic material colected in the Indigenous Land (T. I.) Kaiabi, located in the Lower Teles Pires River (Mato Grosso/Pará). This area is still largely unknown from the archaeological point of view, being part of the near context of both Central Brazil and Southern Amazon, which may have been the scene of occupations and displacements of different indigenous populations over time. To better understand the meanings of the ceramic sets within this context, we analyze the ceramic material based on the notion of chain operatoire (Lemonnier) and the performance characteristics of materials and objects (Schiffer and Skibo), understanding that for each operation within the production sequence there is a choice made by the potter which is determined by culturally defined principles, revealing different ways of making pottery, the so-called technological styles.

Este trabalho teve como objetivo investigar o registro arqueológico de populações ceramistas da região do médio curso do rio Ji-Paraná, Sudoeste Amazônico. A partir de dados contextuais cerâmicos, líticos e da arqueologia da paisagem, analisamos comparativamente oito sítios arqueológico de terra-firme. Por se tratar de uma região ainda pouco conhecida arqueologicamente, nosso objetivo principal esteve em caracterizar o material cerâmico a partir de seus atributos tecnológicos. As pesquisas de campo e laboratório proporcionaram resultados que permitiram identificar um padrão de inserção dos sítios na paisagem, bem como um estilo tecnológico de características regionais, sugerindo que as populações estudadas compartilhavam modos de vida de relativa mobilidade, associando atividades horticultoras e de manejo ambiental integradas a um território comum. As discussões apresentadas nesta tese visam contribuir para a caracterização da variabilidade arqueológica da região e, ainda, para o debate sobre os movimentos populacionais pretéritos que envolveram o Sudoeste Amazônico, notadamente, dos falantes do Tronco Tupi. / The present work aimed to investigate the archeological record of ancient ceramist populations of Southwestern Amazon, specifically from the contexts of the middle Ji-Paraná River. Based on contextualized ceramic and lithic findings, and assuming landscape archaeological framework as a standpoint, we proposed a comparative analysis of eight upland archaeological sites. The research focused on a region relatively unexplored by academic archaeological investigation. Our prime objective was to characterize the ceramic material through its technological attributes. Field works and laboratorial analysis provided results leading to the identification of a pattern for the landscape insertion of the archeological sites, as well as a regional technological style, suggesting that the studied populations shared a life way of relative mobility, combing horticultural and environmental management activities, integrated to a common territory. The discussions presented in this thesis hope to contribute to the characterization of Southwestern Amazon archaeological variability, and also to the debate concerning peoples\' mobility in the past, notably the Tupi language stock speakers of that region.
