Interface Shear Strength in Lightweight Concrete Bridge GirdersScott, Jana 27 July 2010 (has links)
Precast girders and cast-in-place decks are a typical type of concrete bridge construction. A key part of this type of construction is developing composite action between the girder and deck. In order to develop composite action, adequate horizontal shear resistance must be provided at the interface. As lightweight concrete is increasingly being used in bridge designs, it is important to understand the horizontal shear behavior of lightweight concrete.
The current AASHTO LRFD Specification provides design equations for horizontal shear strength of both lightweight and normal weight concrete. Thirty-six push-off tests were performed to determine if the current code equations accurately predict the horizontal shear strength of precast girders and cast-in-place decks for both normal weight and lightweight concrete. The different test series investigated effects from lightweight and normal weight concrete used for the girder/slab combination and the quantity of shear reinforcement provided across the interface.
The test results were compared to the results predicted by current design equations. A structural reliability analysis was performed and the test-to-predicted statistics were used to define LRFD resistance factors and quantify the probability of failure. The current design equations were found to be conservative and more conservative for lightweight concrete than for normal weight concrete. / Master of Science

Administrativní budova / Administrative BuildingHorká, Simona January 2020 (has links)
Subject of this diploma thesis is building documentation of an office building. Designed object is located in the city of Olomouc. Primary purpose of the building will be offices with rentable space, whose layout will be designed as open space offices with option to divide space according to requirements of a tenant. Office spaces will serve for example as headquarters of design offices, IT consulting and services, business companies, technical consulting or managerial services. The building will contain except of office premises also a space for café, retail and underground garage primarily designed for parking of office employees´ cars. Office building is designed as cast-in-place reinforced concrete frame with shear walls, consisting of 4 floors and basement. Object is shaped as two buildings connected with common walking space. Facade will predominantly be designed as glass curtain walling and also as a ventilated facade with cladding from exposed cement-fiber board. Also there is designed a system of steel curtain wall with docked trellis ropes for planting of climbing plants to decrease overheating of the building in summer and to meet the city requirements of as much greening of buildings and their surroundings as possible.

Hasičská stanice / Fire stationHorváthová, Radka January 2022 (has links)
The topic of the diploma thesis is the elaboration of project documentation for the construction of a fire station with almost zero energy consumption. The building will serve as a fire station type P4 with the scope of the JPO I unit - a unit of the fire department with a territorial scope, usually within 20 minutes drive from the place of deployment. The designed building is a detached object with two above-ground and one underground floor. The building is designed as a reinforced concrete skeleton. It consists of two operating units. The administrative and operational part has three floors. In this part, the main entrance to the building is on the 1st floor, oriented on the south side. The technical rooms of the fire department are located on the first floor and are functionally connected to the administrative part. Exit garages, a car wash and a dryer are also attached to it. Prior to the elaboration of the project, a visit to the regional fire station in Trnava and a consultation with the director of this station took place regarding the needs and requirements of the fire department.

The construction industry has a decisive role in economic development of the country and experienced exponential growth requires dedication growing companies in the search for constructive new technologies and tools that will assist them in managing exposures. Constructive rationalized systems that reverberate in improvement of products with reducing costs is critical to remain competitive in the industry. The constructive system using cast-in-place concrete vertical panels confers an alternative in the production of large-scale housing characterized by reduced costs and high productivity that provides a productive chain which assists in the planning and production control in workplaces. This work aims to contribute to the planning and production control buildings that use its constructive system previously cited, proposing a model organization of production based on reducing variability in productive processes through streaming production, providing uninterrupted work on site. The proposal combines the principles supporting the production philosophy of Lean Constrution, and recommends a template for the short-term operational planning, defining workflows by applying patterns appearing in activities by the leveling of labour resources involved in the production process with the introduction of work cells that provide small batches of work.
