Effects Of Frame Aspect Ratio On The Seismic Performance Improvement Of Panel Strengthening Technique

Okuyucu, Dilek 01 August 2011 (has links) (PDF)
PC panel strengthening technique was developed in M.E.T.U. Structural Mechanics Laboratory in order to respond the need of practical and efficient pre-quake seismic strengthening procedures applicable to RC framed structures. The idea behind the method is simply to convert the non-structural infills into load bearing structural elements by gluing PC panels over the existing infill wall surface. The remarkable advantages of the procedure is not only the considerable amount of seismic performance improvement but also the simplicity of application, very low levels of disturbance to the occupants and most importantly, the applicability during service. A number of PC panel application parameters were experimentally investigated by previous researchers. The success of PC panel method on seismic performance improvement of RC frames with different aspect ratios was experimentally investigated in the present study. Total of fifteen, 1:3 scaled, one-bay, two-storey RC frames were tested in three various aspect ratio series. Constant axial load was applied to the columns and reversed cyclic load was applied in the lateral direction. Hollow brick v infilled frame and cast-in-place RC infilled frame were the lower and upper bound reference specimens, respectively. Seismic performance indicators such as response envelope curves, lateral load carrying capacities, cumulative energy dissipations, initial stiffness indicators and ductility values clearly showed the effectiveness of PC panel application over different geometry of RC frames of concern. Moreover, PC panel application either with rectangular or with strip shaped PC panels provided seismic performance improvement to be almost equal to that of cast-in-place RC infill application for all series. Equivalent diagonal strut concept was followed in analytical studies to simulate the infills of RC frame openings. The required strut material properties were estimated from total of eighteen individual wall panel tests. The bond-slip effect, due to utilization low strength of concrete and plain rebars, was also investigated and introduced to the analytical frame models. Non-linear push over analysis was performed for all specimens in OpenSees computer software. The analytical results were compared with that of experimental response envelopes.

Planejamento e controle da produção com a utilização de células de trabalho: estudo de caso em construções com vedações verticais em concreto armado moldadas in loco / Planning and control of production using work cells: a case study in constructions with cast-in-place concrete vertical panels

Larissa Marinho Coelho de Medeiros Bezerra 10 June 2010 (has links)
The construction industry has a decisive role in economic development of the country and experienced exponential growth requires dedication growing companies in the search for constructive new technologies and tools that will assist them in managing exposures. Constructive rationalized systems that reverberate in improvement of products with reducing costs is critical to remain competitive in the industry. The constructive system using cast-in-place concrete vertical panels confers an alternative in the production of large-scale housing characterized by reduced costs and high productivity that provides a productive chain which assists in the planning and production control in workplaces. This work aims to contribute to the planning and production control buildings that use its constructive system previously cited, proposing a model organization of production based on reducing variability in productive processes through streaming production, providing uninterrupted work on site. The proposal combines the principles supporting the production philosophy of Lean Constrution, and recommends a template for the short-term operational planning, defining workflows by applying patterns appearing in activities by the leveling of labour resources involved in the production process with the introduction of work cells that provide small batches of work.

En jämförelse av platsgjutna ochprefabricerade väggar vid reningsverk- Kostnader och arbetsmiljöfrågor / A Comparison of Site-molded and Prefabricated walls at Waste Waterplants- Costs and Work Environment issues

Mikho, Mikael, Sandegren, Simon January 2020 (has links)
When building concrete walls at water and wastewater treatment plants , the twomethods are cast-in-place and prefabricated walls. The methods give similar resultsbut differ considerably in implementation. We have therefore chosen to study thesubject and draw conclusions about which method is preferable. To study the subject, we chose Skebäcks wastewater treatment plant in Örebro as astudy object where both methods of constructing newpartitions in concrete havebeen used in connection with the reconstruction of existing basins. We have chosen to study costs and work environment issues around the twodifferent construction methods. As a basis for the cost calculation, we have usedWikell's Sektion Data and price information from suppliers. To study the workenvironment, interviews were conducted with two professional concrete workers. Theinterviews then provided the basis for a questionnaire that was given to professionalconcrete workers. Our study shows that prefabricated walls provide a lower construction cost than thecorresponding cast-in-place wall at wastewater treatment plant . The study showsthat concrete workers prefer prefabricated solutions from a work environment pointof view. Physically stressful moments are avoided and the time spent in theworkplace is reduced when building with prefabricated concrete walls.
