Climate Change Leadership in the eyes of Business

LEMAIRE, Mathilde January 2020 (has links)
In 2015, the COP21 creates a new hybrid mode of multilateral governance, which aims to make the action of non-states actors a bridge between the political commitments and the government’s actions. The business world is one of these actors with ambitious new roles to implement the Paris Agreements and its NDCs. Yet it seems that nobody has yet questioned whether companies can also act as leaders at their level or at least help their country/organisation to take the lead. To understand how business perceived their roles in the governance landscape post Paris-Agreement, several questions were asked to see what kind of leadership themselves were looking for. Who are the designated leaders for business when it comes to climate leadership? How have them evolved ? Why are they recognized as such? And what is the role of business in delivering Parties' NDCs in the post Paris-Agreement area? Thanks to a unique data collection of questionnaires distributed on COP22 to 25, it appeared that European leadership is not only the most consistent but also the most recognised, although the other EU partners in the BIG3 are far from demeriting. As the issue is particularly political, it was found that the recognition of leadership is not only due to certain leaders but also to many laws, which create and restrict many opportunities for business. The history and culture of the countries concerned also provided many answers. Finally, it seemed unanimous that a cooperative work between governments and business would allow a better and faster reach of both NDCs and SDGs.

A Business Rule Approach To Requirements Traceability

Narmanli, Murat 01 September 2010 (has links) (PDF)
In this thesis, a requirements traceability model is proposed in order to make efficient and effective change request impact analysis. The proposed model is a requirements &ndash / requirements traceability model. There are several researches regarding software requirements traceability problem. The main problem of these researches is that the proposed solutions can not be applied to software industry with affordable changes. However, current literature begins to see that describing all the software requirements in a huge black box is not so much applicable to today&rsquo / s more dynamic and bigger software projects, especially regarding change management. The proposed traceability model tries to be a solution to these problems. Change requests and business rules are two important and popular terms for today&rsquo / s software industry. The traceability model consists of three types of software requirements: data definitions, business rules and use cases. The traceability model proposes bidirectional traces between these types. Data definitions, business rules and use cases are related to each other and they all should be seen as parts of a software system which should work together to make the software system work properly. Empirical investigation is made on a real industrial software project. These types were configured in order to match to the project specific needs in a reconfigurable way. Experimental results show that the traceability model has an acceptable degree of correctness.

Engvall, Emilia, Nyman, Lovisa January 2022 (has links)

Optimalizace vybraných podnikových procesů vyžadující implementace logistického systému / Business process optimization required by an implementation of a new logistic system

Tůma, Martin January 2014 (has links)
The master thesis deals with business process optimization which has to be in a place due to a global implementation of a new logistic information system. The aim is to ensure a process analysis of a current status of selected processes of a company part which is going to be influenced by this implementation. Then to highlight and to stress on the biggest risks and disadvantages of a current status. Final result will be a proposal of new optimized process flows on a higher level of maturity which will meet all requirements set by a new information system, by an information need of a local management and will be helpful to customer service improvement. The first part of the thesis covers theoretical base of a business process management, process modeling and business process optimization approaches which prepare a base for their application in the second practical part of this thesis.

Business Cycle Models with Embodied Technological Change and Poisson Shocks

Schlegel, Christoph 28 May 2004 (has links)
The first part analyzes an Endogenous Business Cycle model with embodied technological change. Households take an optimal decision about their spending for consumption and financing of R&D. The probability of a technology invention occurring is an increasing function of aggregate R&D expenditure in the whole economy. New technologies bring higher productivity, but rather than applying to the whole capital stock, they require a new vintage of capital, which first has to be accumulated before the productivity gain can be realized. The model offers some valuable features: Firstly, the response of output following a technology shock is very gradual; there are no jumps. Secondly, R&D is an ongoing activity; there are no distinct phases of research and production. Thirdly, R&D expenditure is pro-cyclical and the real interest rate is counter-cyclical. Finally, long-run growth is without scale effects. The second part analyzes a RBC model in continuous time featuring deterministic incremental development of technology and stochastic fundamental inventions arriving according to a Poisson process. In a special case an analytical solution is presented. In the general case a delay differential equation (DDE) has to be solved. Standard numerical solution methods fail, because the steady state is path dependent. A new solution method is presented which is based on a modified method of steps for DDEs. It provides not only approximations but also upper and lower bounds for optimal consumption path and steady state. Furthermore, analytical expressions for the long-term equilibrium distributions of the stationary variables of the model are presented. The distributions can be described as extended Beta distributions. This is deduced from a methodical result about a delay extension of the Pearson system.
