Pandemier är något som dyker upp lite då och då. Att kunna visualisera data öppnar möjligheten att hitta intressanta mönster och agera på dem. Geografiska visualiseringar har en förmåga att på ett tydligare sätt bilda förståelse om vad som presenteras och människor har det lättare att resonera och lära sig på ett mer effektivt sätt i en visuell miljö gentemot en textuell- eller numerisk miljö. Arbetet utför en jämförelse mellan de två JavaScriptramverken React och Vue.js. Ramverken använder sig utav Google Charts för att rendera grafer, och en mätning utförs för att ta reda på renderingstid mellan de olika ramverken. Arbetet innehåller även en användarstudie för att ta reda på hur användare tycker att stapeldiagram och GeoCharts fungerar beroende på olika sammanhang. / <p>Det finns övrigt digitalt material (t.ex. film-, bild- eller ljudfiler) eller modeller/artefakter tillhörande examensarbetet som ska skickas till arkivet.</p>

Computerized Flow Process Charting System and Applications

A computerized flow process charting application program of dBase III+ has been developed to aid in resource requirements planning and operations analysis. Traditional flow process charting has used as the following data elements: assembly number, assembly sequence number, distance travelled, time required for the activity and an activity symbol. The computerized system adds several variables to these in order to customize the application at Martin Marietta Electronic Systems. These additional variables include work center identification, machine number identification, lot sizes, set up and run times and manufacturing specifications. Additionally, the circle or operations symbol has been expanded to differentiate between manual, process and test activities. Resources requirements planning and analysis is accomplished by a series of reports where a user defines search requirements and enters three independent equation variables for the calculations. The three variables are realization factor or safety factor, resource availability in hours per month and monthly production demand. The resource requirements can be used in methods engineering, make-buy decisions and resource planning. Sensitivity analyses can be easily accomplished by changing the input variables and/or data.

The Monitoring of Linear Profiles and the Inertial Properties of Control Charts

The Phase I analysis of data when the quality of a process or product is characterized by a linear function is studied in this dissertation. It is assumed that each sample collected over time in the historical data set consists of several bivariate observations for which a simple linear regression model is appropriate, a situation common in calibration applications. Using a simulation study, the researcher compares the performance of some of the recommended approaches used to assess the stability of the process. Also in this dissertation, a method based on using indicator variables in a multiple regression model is proposed. This dissertation also proposes a change point approach based on the segmented regression technique for testing the constancy of the regression parameters in a linear profile data set. The performance of the proposed change point method is compared to that of the most effective Phase I linear profile control chart approaches using a simulation study. The advantage of the proposed change point method over the existing methods is greatly improved detection of sustained step changes in the process parameters. Any control chart that combines sample information over time, e.g., the cumulative sum (CUSUM) chart and the exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) chart, has an ability to detect process changes that varies over time depending on the past data observed. The chart statistics can take values such that some shifts in the parameters of the underlying probability distribution of the quality characteristic are more difficult to detect. This is referred to as the "inertia problem" in the literature. This dissertation shows under realistic assumptions that the worst-case run length performance of control charts becomes as informative as the steady-state performance. Also this study proposes a simple new measure of the inertial properties of control charts, namely the signal resistance. The conclusions of this study support the recommendation that Shewhart limits should be used with EWMA charts, especially when the smoothing parameter is small. This study also shows that some charts proposed by Pignatiello and Runger (1990) and Domangue and Patch (1991) have serious disadvantages with respect to inertial properties. / Ph. D.

The effects of flow diagrams and texts with instructive questions on learning verbal chains

This study examined the ways in which diagrams and texts were used to teach verbal chains and other forms of cyclical information. One hundred twenty-nine college students were randomly assigned to one of four stimulus treatments and a comprehension test. The four treatments conditions were: Text Only (Control), Diagram Only, Text with Instructive Questions, and Diagram with Instructive Questions. Flow diagrams were more effective than texts as a presentation type when teaching cyclical information. The groups that studied diagrams scored significantly higher on the comprehension test than the groups that studied texts §(1,125) = 22.44, p < .05. However, instructive questions used as prompts or as study organizers did not enhance the instructional effectiveness of diagrams or texts. The groups that received instructive questions as an adjunct to the presentation mode scored significantly lower on the comprehension test than the groups that did not receive the adjunct questions F(1, 125) = 8.14, p < .05. Further analysis indicated no interaction among the independent variables. It was concluded that flow diagrams are more effective than text when teaching verbal chains. / Ed. D.

A synthesis of quality and process control

An improved quality control model is suggested in this thesis. The improved quality control model is derived by treating the quality control problem as a process control problem. The quality control model is developed by formulating a process control model in terms of product quality parameters and control variables which affect the product quality parameters. SQC is used in the model to provide estimates about the state of the product quality variable as the product is processed by the plant. A state variable approach is used to determine the optimal control strategy. An example quality control model is formulated for a coke size-reduction process. Numerical values are assumed and sensitivity analysis results are discussed. The results show that the proposed quality control model is reasonable. Extensions to more complicated models are discussed. / M.S.

Use of Integrated Process Control Displays in Work System Design

Given the continuing deployment of total quality control and total quality management initiatives by organizations, employees have seen changes in their work environment. Furthermore, the impact of downsizing has resulted in operators becoming responsible for the quality of their own processes. This study tested the impact of various display alternatives of control chart data on decision performance and mental workload.&nbsp; The control charts were shown as multiple two dimensional displays, a composite two dimensional display, and a composite three dimensional perspective display. Multiple two dimensional displays were found to have significantly higher decision accuracy and decision confidence ratings than either composite displays. No significant difference in decision accuracy and decision confidence ratings was found among the composite displays. The type of display did not have a significant effect on decision time. Mental workload was also found to be significantly affected by the type of display used. Multiple two dimensional displays imposed significantly lower levels of mental workload than either composite display. No significant difference in mental workload was found among the composite displays. These results indicated that multiple two dimensional displays should be used when control chart data from multiple processes must be displayed. / Master of Science

The objectives of this study were to determine the nature of data recorded on the Road to Health Card (RtHC) and its utilisation by nurses at primary health care setting, comparing it with norms and standards on the RtHC guideline, and to provide guidelines for optimal utilisation of the RtHC by health workers. A quantitative nonexperimental descriptive method was used. Two methods were used to collect data; document analysis of the RtHC and structure observation of nurses. A structured exit interview of caregivers was conducted to validate observations from nurses. A sample size of 18 nurses from all categories from six clinics was observed, and 36 RtHC of children under five years of age were analysed. Results indicated that data recorded on the RtHC was mostly inaccurate, incomplete and not interpreted. The study identified a need to train health workers on optimal utilisation of the RtHC facilitating health improvement of children under five years of age. / Health Studies / M.A. (Health Studies)
