Power Transformer production at Efacec is unsuitable with Industry 4.0 trends since information is not shared efficiently abroad for stakeholders to make better decisions. Creative and high-value stakeholders spend their time on low-value repetitive tasks and fail to implement authentic innovation practices. Moreover, during the lifecycle of a Power Transformer, a large amount of data is generated, from its concept, design, manufacturing, and operation until disposal. The difficulty is that the current product design and engineering processes are not designed to take advantage of the rich data available through implementing the Digital Twin concept and their potential for knowledge extraction. In this context, this work aims to study how the availability of data and information provided through the Digital Twin approach will impact product design and engineering processes. Information and data analytical methods become valuable components in organisations, enabling knowledge dissemination and collaboration among stakeholders to address better performance in developing new customisable products. Considering the features proposed for the Power Transformer during a product's lifecycle, there is a complementarity between Knowledge-Based Engineering and Digital Twin. The latter serves as a support platform for Knowledge-Based Engineering processes. It comes particularly from Digital Twin's ability to act as a recommendation system, storing and providing information that assists the engineer in defining functional requirements and conforming them to the project's objectives. The case study research method was employed as an empirical inquiry. This method is an appropriate research design when it is necessary to obtain holistic, concrete, contextual, and in-depth knowledge about a specific real-world subject's key characteristics, meanings, and implications. Achieving the research aims will contribute to assessing the impact on product design and engineering processes of the availability of data and information provided through the Digital Twin. The organisation will then have conditions to reach a new context characterised by volatile processes, whose trends and customers change rapidly, demanding custom yet fast design approaches.

O atual contexto de produção de dados de investigação leva ao desenvolvimento de ferramentas para os desafios de gestão. Os metadados sustentam a partilha dos dados, amplamente defendida pelas agências de financiamento. Contudo o desenvolvimento de modelos de metadados nem sempre se apresenta uma tarefa fácil, uma vez que é necessário conciliar a colaboração do curador de dados e do investigador. Cada um deles com conhecimentos diferenciados sobre os domínios e a gestão de dados, tornando a comunicação um processo exigente. Nesse sentido, a proposta deste trabalho tem como objetivo compreender se o curador, sem conhecimento específico sobre um determinado domínio, consegue definir um modelo de dados preliminar, baseado na análise de conteúdo de artigos produzidos por investigadores. Pretende-se compreender se a abordagem permite otimizar o fluxo de trabalho do curador e ainda se é possível definir requisitos que se relacionem com a tipologia de dados, neste caso em específico os dados experimentais. De forma a avaliar esta abordagem foram efetuadas análises de conteúdo em publicações científicas para cinco casos de uso para os quais resultam modelos de metadados que são avaliados junto de investigadores do domínio. Através da avaliação junto dos investigadores é possível validar a abordagem com resultados satisfatórios, uma vez que a taxa de conceitos aceites foi elevada. Na perspetiva do curador de dados a análise de conteúdo tem potencial como uma tarefa proativa que pode ser aplicada em diversos domínios experimentais e possibilita uma comunicação mais eficiente entre o curador e os investigadores. No entanto, a abordagem também tem algumas limitações que se relacionam com a falta de conhecimento do curador sobre as especificidades dos domínios pelo que a interação final entre curadores e investigadores, é preponderante no desenvolvimento do modelo de metadados. / The current context of research data production leads to the development of tools to face the challenges of the management and the description of data that result from the research processes. Metadata support data sharing, widely advocated by funding agencies. However, the development of metadata is not always an easy task, since it is necessary to promote the collaboration of the data curator and the researcher. They have complementary knowledge on domains and data management, making communication a demanding process. The objective of this work is to understand if the curator, without specific knowledge about the domain, can define a preliminary data model, using content analysis of papers by the researchers. This approach is expected to optimize the workflow of the curator and to test the hypothesis that it is possible to define requirements that are related to the typology of data, in this specific case experimental data. In order to examine this approach, content analyses were carried out based on scientific publications for five use cases, for which metadata models are produced and evaluated with domain researchers. Evaluation with the researchers has provided evidence to support the approach. The results are promising with a high rate of accepted concepts. In the data curator's perspective, content analysis has potential as a proactive task that can be applied in several experimental domains and enables a more efficient communication between the curator and the researchers. However, the approach also has some limitations that relate to the curator's lack of knowledge about the specificities of the domains, so that the final interaction between curators and researchers is essential to bridge some of the gaps in the model.

O objetivo deste projeto é a análise e melhoria da experiência de utilizador de uma plataforma de anotação de estruturas argumentativas. Essa plataforma, em desenvolvimento, possuía algumas lacunas ao nível da informação disponibilizada ao utilizador, não sendo a sua utilização e as tarefas de anotação de argumentos completamente intuitivas, sem recurso a diretrizes específicas. O âmbito desta dissertação consistiu na participação no desenvolvimento da plataforma, bem como na elaboração de um manual de utilização e de um documento de diretrizes de anotação de argumentos: o manual instrui os seus utilizadores sobre como utilizar a plataforma, enquanto que as diretrizes de anotação de argumentos foram desenvolvidas com vista à sua utilização num projeto de anotação de artigos de opinião. A construção destes dois recursos contribuiu, sem dúvida, para a melhoria da usabilidade da plataforma, o que potenciará a sua utilização em projetos de anotação de estruturas argumentativas em fontes textuais / The objective of this project is the analysis and improvement of the user experience of an annotation platform of argumentative structures. This platform, in development, had some gaps in the information available to the user, its use and annotation of arguments completely intuitive, without recourse to specific guidelines. The scope of this dissertation consisted in participating in the development of the platform, as well as in the elaboration of a user manual and a argument annotation guidelines document: the manual instructs its users on how to use the platform, while the annotation guidelines of arguments were developed with a view to their use in a project of annotation of opinion articles. The construction of these two resources undoubtedly contributed to the improvement of the usability of the platform, which will enhance its use in projects of annotation of argumentative structures in textual sources.
