Also reflect the position held by the Church for the arrival of new costumes influenced mainly by the arrival of cinema sound and a greater presence in the region of other religions. In this perspective, analyze the church's emphasis on control and educational intervention on female youth and children, serving as an instrument of defense of their institution. The local press, but also books of memories of the city are the main sources used in the discussion of the topic. The work is divided into three parts: the first, discuss the Catholic Church before the changes of the spaces of the city, the second part, discusses the issue of Catholic moral and female youth, given the transformations in urban life and ultimately, the church and infant universe in its educational and discussion on the social problem of children in Pouso Alegre / Esta dissertação denominada: A Igreja Católica e a transformação do espaço e do viver urbano de Pouso Alegre -MG (1936- 45) procura discutir a posição e a articulação adotada pela diocese de Pouso Alegre, referente às transformações do espaço da cidade, que passava por incisivas intervenções urbanísticas. Reflito também a postura exercida pela Igreja em relação à chegada de novos costumes influenciados principalmente com a chegada do cinema sonoro e por uma maior presença na região de outras religiões. Nesta perspectiva, analiso a ênfase da Igreja no controle e na intervenção educacional sobre a juventude feminina e a criança, servindo como um instrumento de defesa de sua instituição. A imprensa local, como também livros de memórias da cidade são as principais fontes utilizadas na discussão do tema. O trabalho está dividido em três partes: na primeira, discuto a Igreja Católica frente às modificações dos espaços da cidade, na segunda parte, trato sobre a questão da moral católica e a juventude feminina, diante das transformações no viver urbano e por último, analiso a Igreja e o universo infantil em sua formação educacional e na discussão sobre o problema social da infância em Pouso Alegre
