CoordenaÃÃo de AperfeiÃoamento de Pessoal de NÃvel Superior / A pesquisa aborda o debate pÃblico em torno da cultura da memÃria do cangaÃo no tempo presente. O cangaÃo, fenÃmeno de banditismo vivenciado entre a segunda metade do sÃculo XIX e a primeira metade do sÃculo XX na regiÃo do Nordeste brasileiro, acabou hà dÃcadas, mas sua memÃria sobreviveu em diversos meios culturais. A dilataÃÃo do movimento de ressignificaÃÃo dessa controversa memÃria, entendida como produto de âpassado que nÃo quer passarâ regional por carregar em seu cerne o dilema do lembrar ou esquecer, suscita intensa indagaÃÃo, sobretudo referente Ãs diferentes valoraÃÃes que a tornam um patrimÃnio cultural nordestino reivindicado, dissonante e contestado. A anÃlise desdobra olhares para os seus acordos e conflitos entre as dÃcadas de 1980 e 2010, cujo ponto de inflexÃo sÃo as comemoraÃÃes ao centenÃrio de nascimento do cangaceiro LampiÃo no final dos anos 1990, num recorte balizado particularmente por suas celebraÃÃes de morte - cinquentenÃrio (1988), sexagenÃrio (1998) e septuagenÃrio (2008). O objetivo estruturante à interpelar essa memÃria analisando as suas (con)fusÃes em perÃodo de fortalecimento no cenÃrio pÃblico; as suas batalhas nas (contra)comemoraÃÃes do referido centenÃrio; e os seus (o)cultos celebrativos no calendÃrio festivo surgido apÃs tal efemÃride. O estudo desses trabalhos da memÃria do cangaÃo em relaÃÃo intrÃnseca com a temporalidade nordestina problematiza estratos temporais que reivindicam rupturas, permanÃncias e demais ramificaÃÃes no terreno imaginÃrio das ditas identidades regionais. Desenvolvida no Ãmbito do Grupo de Estudo e Pesquisa em PatrimÃnio e MemÃria (GEPPM-UFC/CNPq), a investigaÃÃo parte dos pressupostos da HistÃria da MemÃria para examinar atuaÃÃes de instituiÃÃes, grupos e indivÃduos, tais como ex-cangaceiros, familiares, artistas populares, cineastas, memorialistas, vÃtimas, intelectuais e jornalistas, atravÃs de algumas fontes histÃricas - com enfoque na grande imprensa, mas na articulaÃÃo com projetos oficiais, livros, cordÃis, panfletos, fotografias, filmes e entrevistas - que permitem pensar os problemas suscitados. / This paper aims at contributing to the discussion on the culture of the contemporary memory of cangaÃo. The cangaÃo, a banditry phenomenon experienced between the second half of the nineteenth century and the first half of the twentieth century in the Brazilian Northeast, ended decades ago, but its memory survived in several cultural backgrounds. The expansion of this controversy memoryâs reframing movement, understood as a regional result of an ever-present past, due to carrying in its heart the dilemma of remembering or forgetting, raises intense questioning, especially regarding the different validations that make it a claimed, dissonant and contested cultural heritage. The research goes over its agreements and conflicts between the 1980s and 2010, whose inflection point are the celebrations of LampiÃoâs birth centenary in the late 1990s, in a fragment marked particularly by the celebrations to this cangaceiroâs death â its fiftieth anniversary ( 1988), sixtieth (1998) and seventieth (2008). The main objective is to question this memories analyzing its (con)fusions in a strengthening period in the public scenario; their battles on centenary celebrations; and its celebrative cults in the festivalâs calendar created after the event. The study of these CangaÃoâs Memory, in close relationship with the northeastern time, discusses temporal pieces that claim ruptures, continuities and other branches in the imaginary land of the said regional identities. Starting especially with the assumption of the History of Memory, we examine institutionsâ performances, groups and individuals, such as former bandits (cangaceiros), family, popular artists, filmmakers, chroniclers, victims, intellectuals and journalists, through some historical sources - focused in the press, but also articulating with official projects, books, twine, brochures, photographs, movies and interviews â which allow us to think about the problems raised. Este trabalho pretende discutir a emergÃncia histÃrica do discurso sobre a pobreza na cidade de Teresina no inÃcio dos anos 1950. Nesse perÃodo, a comemoraÃÃo do CentenÃrio da cidade, em 1952, mobilizou polÃticos e intelectuais a pensarem a cidade. Sobretudo na imprensa, o reconhecimento do carÃter histÃrico do pauperismo da capital do Estado do Piauà foi um aspecto capitalizado pela crÃtica letrada no momento da efemÃride. Os discursos que permearam a cultura letrada, ao delimitarem a historicidade da pobreza, foram prudentes quanto ao futuro. A ocorrÃncia da seca de 1951-53 e a movimentaÃÃo de flagelados por todo o Estado e na capital, somando-se aos mendigos e pobres urbanos, confluÃram com certa unanimidade para interpretar aquele tempo como um momento de crise evidente. A elevaÃÃo do custo de vida contribuiu de modo contundente para o entendimento de que a crise se agravava dia apÃs dia. A partir da investigaÃÃo de crÃnicas da imprensa, Censos DemogrÃficos, Atas da CÃmara Municipal e Mensagens de Governo, foi possÃvel traÃar as linhas gerais do discurso sobre a crise e a pobreza na visÃo dos letrados. AtravÃs de processos judiciais e da literatura, foi possÃvel sondar, em perspectiva, o cotidiano e a vida de pessoas comuns naquele perÃodo, buscando compreender as ideias e aÃÃes dos pobres em busca de direitos que acreditavam possuir. / This paper work intends to discuss the historical break in the speech about poverty in the city of Teresina in the beginning of the 1950â. This period, the city Centennial Anniversary, in 1952, mobilized politicians and intellectuals to think about the city. Mainly the press, to acknowledge the historical character of the Piauà State Capital pauperism was a highlighted aspect by the literate critic in the ephemeris moment. The speeches which permeated literate culture, delimiting the poverty historicity, were prudent regarding to the future. With the occurrence of the 1951-53 draught and the movement of flagellated all over the State and the Capital city, adding the beggars and urban poor population, converged with certain unanimity to interpret those times as a moment of evident crisis. The higher cost of living contributed bluntly to the understanding that the crisis was being aggravated day by day. By the investigation of press chronicles, Demographic Census, Municipal Chambers Minutes and Government Messages, it was possible to trace the general lines in the speech about the crisis and the poverty in the vision of literate. Throughout lawsuits, it was possible to prospect, in perspective, the day by day of common people in that period, seeking to understand the ideas and actions of poor people while claiming their rights.
