Tvorba webových aplikací pomocí frameworku OpenXava / Web Application Development with OpenXava FrameworkŠimon, Martin January 2015 (has links)
The thesis is concerned with a comparison of Java web framework OpenXava and frameworks Grails, Zend, Play, Nette, Node.JS and Symfony processed by authors Odehnal [17], Kadlec [12], Kočárek [14] and Dočkal [6]. It contains theoretical part concerned with development and architecture of framework, which provides a comprehensive picture of working with OpenXava. The practical part contains particular sample application of the specifications of which come from the thesis created by František OdehnalIt contains theoretical part concerned with development and architecture of framework, which provides a comprehensive picture of working with OpenXava. The practical part contains particular sample application of the specifications of which come from the thesis created by František Odehnal [17]. The process of its development is described in detail and completes information from the official documentation of OpenXava framework. As a result of the knowledge gained during the development of the sample application, great comparison of the above-mentioned frameworks and OpenXava is contained. The comparison involves several areas. At the beginning, general differences of frameworks and implementation of Martin Fowler´s design patterns are compared. The next area is carried out in working within framework and covers objective criteria as well as a subjective point of view. The last area is concerned with a support of the frameworks and examines availability of literature, support from its developers and also how much it is widespread among the professional public. The results of the comparison should make the orientation in the market of web frameworks easier.

The First Movement of Piano Sonata in B-flat Minor by Julius Reubke: a Comparison of Three Editions From the Performer’s Point of ViewPátkai, Imre 08 1900 (has links)
The objective of this dissertation is to review the discrepancies between the first edition, Stradal’s edition and Marzocchi’s edition of Reubke’s piano sonata, providing assistance for performers by clarifying inconsistencies between the three editions. Information in reference to major aspects such as fingerings, pedaling, phrasing, tempo markings is presented. Examples of discrepancies found throughout the first movement are discussed in Chapter 3. Detailed assessment of these discrepancies, accompanied by the author’s comments are listed in the comprehensive comparison table in Appendix A. Additionally, directions are given in cases of presumptive errors, and discrepancies are addressed with possible variant solutions. In conclusion, the relative merit of the three editions is assessed in Chapter 4.

Investigating the Impact of Specific, Global, and Social Comparison Feedback on Safety BehaviorsWilliams, Joshua Holbrook 20 May 1999 (has links)
Behavior-based safety feedback is increasingly used by organizations to reduce the frequency and severity of work-related injuries. Improvements in safety performance have been demonstrated in numerous settings following behavior-based (BB) safety feedback. The relative impact of global, specific, and social comparison BB feedback on safety behaviors was assessed in the current study. A 2 Feedback Level (Specific, Global) X 2 Feedback Type (Social Comparison, No Social Comparison) analysis of covariance was used to test the hypothesis that specific, social comparison feedback would lead to the greatest improvement in safety percent safe scores. Participants were 97 employees from Shifts 1 and 2 of a soft-drink bottling company in southeastern United States. Results from the study demonstrated a main effect for feedback type. Social comparison feedback led to significantly higher percent safe scores than no social comparison feedback conditions (M=.78 and .68, respectively). Follow-up chi-square analyses and practical considerations suggest global/SCF is optimal for improving safety performance. Limitations of the study and future implications for BB safety feedback research are provided / Ph. D.

A Comparison of Estimation Procedures for the Beta DistributionYan, Huey 01 May 1991 (has links)
The beta distribution may be used as a stochastic model for continuous proportions in many situations in applied statistics. This thesis was concerned with estimation of the parameters of the beta distribution in three different situations.
Three different estimation procedures-the method of moments, maximum likelihood, and a hybrid of these two methods, which we call the one-step improvement-were compared by computer simulation, for beta data and beta data contaminated by zeros and ones. We also evaluated maximum likelihood estimation in the context of censored data, and Newton's method as a numerical procedure for solving the likelihood equations for censored beta data.

A Comparison by Sex, Age, and Marital Status of the Needs and Educational Goals of Students in a community CollegeBracken, Susan Carol 01 May 1978 (has links)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the possible differences in needs and educational goals of community college students based on their sex, age , and marital status, particularly between older women students and other student. groups . Information was gathered from the college application forms of all day students enrolled in any class during the fall of 1976 at Southwestern Community College . The total number was 6,854, 51% were men, with a mean age of 27.9 ; and 49% were women with a mean age of 25.2. Thirty-one percent were married.
The specific questions under study were:
l. Would there be a difference in the stated need sand educational goals of women students compared to those of men students?
2. Would there be a difference in the stated needs and educational goals of older students compared to those of younger students?
3. Would there be a difference in the stated needs and educational goals of married students compared to those of single students?
The major findings of the study included:
1. Career counseling was requested somewhat more frequently by women S·tHdents (40. 7%) than men students (36.2%). When controlled f or marital status and age, greater differences were found. For example, 47.1% of single women under 25 requested career counseling compared to 26 .1% of older married men.
2 . Transfer counsel i ng was .requested more frequently by men students (31.2%) than by women students (24.4%) . The most striking difference was between single young men students (36.9%) and married young women (14.7%).
3. Forty-two percent of men students planned to transfer and earn a Bachelor of Arts degree compared to 28% of women students .
4 . Younger and sing l e students set their goals at more demanding and time-consuming courses of study than older or married students . Women were generally over represented in the shorter, less demanding majors.

Comparative outcomes between HIV positive and negative endodontic patientsTootla, Saidah 05 May 2009 (has links)
Purpose: To compare the presenting symptoms and the outcomes of root canal therapy between HIV positive and HIV negative endodontic patients over a 6-12 month period.
Methods: Fifty-nine HIV negative and 46 HIV positive patients presented for endodontic treatment. Signs and symptoms were noted and compared for both groups of patients, together with demographic data and CD4 counts for the HIV positive patients. Endodontic procedures were evaluated after an 18-month period. Endodontic treatment was assessed using clinical factors (palpation, percussion, sensitivity to hot and cold, swellings, excessive bleeding), and radiographic factors (periapical radiolucency, root resorption, periodontal ligament space).
Results: There was no statistically significant difference in the preoperative presenting symptoms of endodontic infections/conditions between HIV positive and HIV negative patients. The prevalence of radiographic caries in the presenting teeth was only 24% in the HIV positive patients compared with 95% in the HIV negative patients. For the HIV positive patients, the treatment time required to resolution of the endodontic infection was nearly twice (113 minutes) that of the HIV negative patients (52 minutes). Amongst the HIV positive patients still experiencing symptoms at 18 months, pain was more severe in those patients with lower CD4 counts (significance at the 90% level of confidence).
Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study the following conclusions emerge:
1.
Although the success rate was lower over the period of this study in HIV positive patients, the rate is sufficiently high to warrant treatment.
2.
Patients who are HIV positive may present with more severe symptoms and during treatment more bleeding may be expected.
3.
In keeping with best practice for immuno-compromised patients, it would be advantageous to put HIV positive patients on antibiotic cover during treatment.
4.
The process of anachoresis may explain the high incidence of endodontic infections in teeth with no history of trauma or caries in the HIV positive group.
