Metoder för samspel och komposition : Hur man genom gruppövningar och kompositionstekniker kan nå en trygg grund för kollektivt skapande, samt utforska gitarrens roll i ensemblen.

Persson, Agnes January 2023 (has links)
Interplay has always been a key characteristic of jazz and improvised music. The ability to communicate in real-time and to build on each other's ideas is essential in this genre, where the very essence of the music lies in the musical conversation between musicians. The purpose of this essay is to investigate different methods for developing a beneficial foundation for collective creativity, and to discern how the various qualities of the guitar affect the resulting interplay within the group - in this case a guitar trio with bass and drums. In addition to this, I have also worked with a specific method for composing, with the aim to write new music for the specific musicians in this group. Through the usage of ensemble exercises we investigated parameters such as dynamics, contrasts, and motifs. We noticed that it wasn’t mainly the exercises that led to progress, but rather the conversations about the music we had just played. The composing method was a highly tangible and creative way of capturing the trio’s musical nature. Since the ideas for the compositions came straight from the musicians themselves, the music I wrote came to properly reflect the group and our particular sound. /
Medverkande musiker: Agnes Persson; elgitarr, Jakob Ulmestrand; kontrabas, Ludwig Aronsson; trumset, Maja Svantesson; sång. EVOLUTIONARY SKETCHES

Cho, Youngmi January 2011 (has links)

EVOLUTIONARY SKETCHES is a three-movement sextet composition for flute, clarinet in Bb, percussion, piano, viola, and cello. The idea of the piece is based on the study of applying scientific evolutionary theories to compositional techniques. The first movement reflects my attempt to realize the generic process of development from one generation to the next by natural selection, crossover, or mutation. In the second movement, I conceive an image of evolution in which changes take place through battles among different evolutionary factors over progress. The structure of the third movement explores the extensive use of cellular automata.
/ Dissertation

Probabilistic Program Analysis for Software Component Reliability

Mason, Dave January 2002 (has links)
Components are widely seen by software engineers as an important technology to address the "software crisis''. An important aspect of components in other areas of engineering is that system reliability can be estimated from the reliability of the components. We show how commonly proposed methods of reliability estimation and composition for software are inadequate because of differences between the models and the actual software systems, and we show where the assumptions from system reliability theory cause difficulty when applied to software. This thesis provides an approach to reliability that makes it possible, if not currently plausible, to compose component reliabilities so as to accurately and safely determine system reliability. Firstly, we extend previous work on input sub-domains, or partitions, such that our sub-domains can be sampled in a statistically sound way. We provide an algorithm to generate the most important partitions first, which is particularly important when there are an infinite number of input sub-domains. We combine analysis and testing to provide useful reliabilities for the various input sub-domains of a system, or component. This provides a methodology for calculating true reliability for a software system for any accurate statistical distribution of input values. Secondly, we present a calculus for probability density functions that permits accurately modeling the input distribution seen by each component in the system - a critically important issue in dealing with reliability of software components. Finally, we provide the system structuring calculus that allows a system designer to take components from component suppliers that have been built according to our rules and to determine the resulting system reliability. This can be done without access to the actual components. This work raises many issues, particularly about scalability of the proposed techniques and about the ability of the system designer to know the input profile to the level and kind of accuracy required. There are also large classes of components where the techniques are currently intractable, but we see this work as an important first step.

Charakteristika tvorby a kompozičního stylu Luboše Fišera, s přihlédnutím ke klavírním skladbám sólového charakteru / Character of Luboš Fišer's Work and Style of Composing, Taking into Account the Nature of Solo Piano Pieces

Kovár, Jiří January 2011 (has links)
Title : The character of Lubos Fiser's work and his style of composing, taking into account the nature of solo piano pieces. Abstract : This paper "The character of Lubos Fiser's work and his style of composing, taking into account the nature of solo piano pieces", is focused on all of his pieces. The first part of Fiser's work falls within the artificial character and the second part focuses on the film, hence the incidental music. The main purpose of this thesis is to update and clarify Fiser's review of his complete achievements and composition style into the typological classification and the individual development throughout various creative stages. Consideration will be also given to the creation of solo piano pieces that illustrate and highlight specific features of Fiser's creative development. Characteristics of these pieces will be linked to their structure in the form and tectonics, with regard to the styling tools and related interpretive issues.

Les habilités d'écriture d'adolescents à haut potentiel intellectuel : étude des habilités graphomotrices, orthographiques et rédactionnelles comparées à celles d'adolexcents ordinaires / Written language skills in gifted adolescents : study of handwriting, spelling and composing abilities.

Peyrebrune, Amandine 12 January 2018 (has links)
Les participants seront sélectionnés selon les critères suivants : niveau intellectuel (Weschler IV) / The aim of the thesis is to study the difficulties of acquisition of written language in children with high intellectual potential (HPI). The main aim is to list the types of problems encountered in terms of the components of written language - graphomotive execution, spelling, textual formulation and text production - and to understand the processes that underlie these problems. problems. The thesis is also intended to contribute to the understanding of the writing process in children in the near future. The literature review, which will be the first step of the thesis, will point out the most characteristic points of the problems of acquisition of writing reported in the studies (eg, Yates et al., 1995) and the main issues under discussion today. hui.Empirical studies will combine observation, quasi-experimental comparison and experimental study. The performances will be collected from a population of high-potential children and children. We plan to perform a longitudinal follow-up of a selected sample according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria mentioned in the project body. Participants will be selected according to the following criteria: intellectual level (Weschler IV)
