An investigation into the behavioural and technical factors affecting success in the use of network analysis in the construction industry of Great BritainArditi, David A. January 1973 (has links)
Network analysis techniques have been used for planning purposes in the construction industry for over a decade. They have been used with various degrees of success by the client to control the progress of his job; by the architect (or consultant) to plan the design phase of the project; and finally by the contractor to prepare his pre-tender and contract programmes. This study is concerned about the factors which contribute to higher success in the use of network analysis techniques in contracting organizations.

Návrh optické přístupové sítě / Design of passive optical networkŽák, Ondřej January 2011 (has links)
Diploma thesis is dealing with access networks, especially with the passive optical network. The theoretical part is a list of different types of passive optical access networks, including theirs basic description, which then goes on to feature connectivity options for optical units, customers, including topology of distribution network. Analysis of different types of networks and the possibility of physical and logical design is the basis for successful design and prepa-ration of future optical access networks. Practical part is devoting to data analysis of measurement existing metropolitan network to be used for construction of optical access network in Brno, Ţlutý kopec – Preslova location. Data evaluation showed possibility of connecting with already installed network hence is created proposal of optical access network mentioned before. Selected location is analysed in detail and illustrated on situational scheme of location and customers, whose will be passive split-ters to central office. Consequently is developed project of optical access network based on data analysed date from measurements. Project is study and description of planned solution of optical access network in order to bring Triple Play services to customers. Within the interpretation of the feasibility of the project and verification physical layer pa-rameters of network was made a simulation in OptiSystem. The possibility of successful op-eration of the optical access network with the attributes entered in its design is approved in accordance with the evaluation results. The proposed network is passive in character of GPON standard, and the text describes in detail physical layer, proposed transmission speed, wave and attenuation plan of optical net-work. The work implies a specific line of HDPE ducts and microducts in them, including drawing the maps and identification in-depth. The work contains a description of the elements that are installed on the route – the number, type and eventually its length. Diploma thesis is introducing the technology and construction sequence of access network leading to its opera-tional state.

Information Flow in Reuse Prospects of Construction Materials : Analysis of information flow in the Swedish construction industryChandran, Rahul, Joseph, Neha January 2023 (has links)
Efficient management of construction and demolition components is crucial for the sustainability of the environment, society, and economy. Reusing construction materials is an effective way to reduce construction debris. However, reuse is hurdled due to different factors, and one of the leading causes of these factors is improper information flow. The information flow is the transfer of relevant information within the network about construction materials such as quality, quantity and other specifications in the reuse aspect. The seamless flow of relevant information on the construction process and materials is crucial to facilitate reuse. Unfortunately, there are considerable obstacles to achieving a seamless information flow. By identifying and addressing the barriers that hinder the current information flow, we can thrive towards a seamless flow of information that facilitates reuse within the construction industry. This paper examines the challenges in the flow of information within the Swedish construction industry using a qualitative exploratory research design. The research also explores some strategies adopted by a few stakeholders to promote reuse. The study is performed using existing literature and interviews with various stakeholders mainly in the Swedish construction industry. The research identifies several barriers in information flow, including a lack of collaboration among stakeholders, fragmented information, no standardization, business models that do not support reuse, and low awareness of reuse prospects. To gain better insight into the flow of information, a five-component framework has been devised based on these challenges.
