L’architecture gothique flamboyante dans le comté de Bourgogne : de la fin du XIVe siècle aux grands chantiers du XVIe siècle / Flamboyant gothic architecture in the county of Burgundy : from the end of the XIV century to the large construction sites of the XVI century

Pégeot, Séverine 29 November 2016 (has links)
This thesis focuses on the Flamboyant Gothic architecture of County of Burgundyfrom the late XIV century to the large construction sites of the XVI century : Notre-Dame de Gray and Notre-Dame de Dole. This study is part of a broad chronological framework and helps lay amilestone in the understanding of the flamboyant architecture in France. The approachis a comparative analysis of sources and monumental buildings, which allows us tounderstand the complexity and the diversity of forms that were introduced into theCounty of Burgundy in the late Middle Ages and in the first half of XVI century.

The civil construction sector generates residue throughout its production chain, whether in the extraction of natural resources, in the production process or even in the disposal of waste during the life cycle of its products, causing social and environmental problems for cities. As a result of this problem, this work presents a case study in the Lençóis Paulista city through a project of public investment in setting up a recycling plant for the Construction and Demolition Residue (CDR), in order to solve the problem of disposal of these wastes. Were determined estimates of the generation of the CDR and the characterization of these to verify the potential for recycling. Subsequently, were identified the resources and equipment needed to install the plant to then get the results on the economic and environmental viability of the project. The project was determined to be feasible, since economic analysis identified the Net Present Value (NPV) of R$ 545,286.81 and the Internal Rate of Return of 15.02% higher than the Minimum Rate of Attractiveness (MRA). The period of invetment recovery is obtained after the seventh year in the case of simple payback and after the eleventh year for the discounted payback. The environmental benefits enable the municipality in an environmentaly correct disposal of construction waste, avoiding the geration of public health problems with the final disposal of CDR through the reuse of recycled aggregates used in construction work in City Hall

An analysis of quality assurance in low-cost housing construction

Wentzel, Lance January 2010 (has links)
Thesis (MTech (Construction Management ))--Cape Peninsula University of Technology, 2010 / The motivation of the public sector is more social and political. The housing crisis is a major political issue for every ruling party. In many countries there are political commitments to housing, but sadly we witness this commitment being misdirected. Every government wants to see that its citizens are housed adequately. Very often it is seen that in its endeavour, government try to follow the private sector process, establishing huge parastatals to carry out the whole process, for example design, construction and financing (Lankatilleke, 1994). Lankatilleke, L. (1994) further mentions that mass produced public sector housing schemes are aesthetic disasters. They are either rows of match-boxes or high-rise blocks with no identity or individuality. There are numerous examples of such housing schemes that have deteriorated into ghettos. This research consequently presents findings which implies that government is being pressurized by the housing backlog within the Western and Eastern Cape, which brings about time constraints and tight budgets. These pressures are transferred to the design teams which need to speedily produce designs for low-cost housing homes within the best possible budget. This results to the implementation of common model designs. It is also founded that contractors ultimately suffer, due to these pressures which do not allow them to produce good quality homes. It is therefore recommended that better community involvement for sustainable methods in the design and construction process should be practiced. This therefore concludes that government should take more responsibility for the delivery processes of low-cost housing as well as the procurement and quality systems to be followed.

Konflikt a prolínání kulturních znaků ve fikčním světě románů Louise Erdrich / Conflict and blending of cultural signs in fictional world of novels by Louise Erdrich

Pacolová, Jana January 2017 (has links)
The aim of this paper is to inspect the work of Louise Erdrich with the optics of semiotics, literary theory and cultural anthropology and to find topics related to the cultural conflict of Native American and Christian tradition. The theoretical part is devoted to the theories of the ontological definition of the fictional world, its relation to culture and its construction within a literary piece. In the practical part, we will deal with the cultural features associated with nature, religion, space and social ordering, as they are illustrated in the novels. The paper is not an anthropological material dealing with Native American culture as such. Here we perform a literary analysis and examine the anthropomorphic dimension of the unique fictional world.
