Water security and climate change adaptation as local challenges with global importance – addressing the gap between knowledge generation and best practice application

Lindner, André, Günther, Edeltraud, Babel, Mukand, Barseghyan, Hasmik, Fukushi, Kensuke 26 June 2023 (has links)
The communication of naturally complex issues like climate change, tipping points, socio-ecological systems, and their interaction with the hydrological cycle and water security is equally important as it is challenging. Beyond the complexity, the long-term and often delayed characteristics furthermore do not match with either political election cycles or quarterly business reports. Academic institutions are at the forefront to assess, reveal and understand such complex systems, but certainly more engagement is needed to effectively transfer the most urgent derivations in practice and policy on the one hand, but also invest into a continuing effort in creating a general understanding and susceptibility to crucial stakeholders of those characteristics on the other. Transformative interaction, and hence closing the gap between knowledge generation and best practice application needs to be eased down to an implementable level, but without any oversimplification. A prerequisite for such an approach in successful multilateral cooperation would be a common baseline – a mutual Water Culture among all stakeholders when addressing water security with meaningful climate adaptation measures.:Background Climate Change Water Security Chances in Multilateral Cooperation Session Summary Urban water security – assessment framework and application Contributions of higher education to climate adaptation and water security Call for transfer measures Commitments Speakers/Panel

Aprendizaje Cooperativo en Educación Infantil: un estudio comparado de las relaciones de Tutoría y Cooperación en el área de Educación Plástica.

Cano Tornero, Mª del Carmen 19 June 2007 (has links)
This thesis aims at comparing academic performance in the Visual and Plastic Arts class during the first year of the second cycle of Infant and Nursery Education. It does so for three different working situations in the classroom - individualization, cooperation and tutorial and in connection with different categories of content - type of drawing (with three separate components: line, representation and colour); and type of activity (with thirteen components corresponding to thirteen course units). The analysis of the data obtained leads us to conclude that academic performance in the cooperation situation is higher than in the other two situations, no statistical differences having been found between the individualization and tutorial situations, although behaviour in the latter was worse than in the former. These results remained unchanged regardless of the activity involved, although differences were greater in activities with an element of cooperation. These results also apply to type of drawing, with the level of difficulty of the colour component ranking higher than line or representation.

Ditrych Lenc, Michaela January 2017 (has links)
CHARLES UNIVERSITY IN PRAGUE FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES Institute of Sociological Studies Department of Public and Social Policy Michaela Ditrych Lenc A Reflection of Capacity Development Concept in the Czech Development Cooperation Programme in Higher Education and Research - A Georgia Case Study Master's Thesis Prague 2017 Abstract The Master's thesis is concerned with a recently launched policy instrument called the programme placement of Czech students to developing countries whose aim is to enhance quality of higher education and research in Czech Republic's partner countries in the South. The programme, implemented in the framework of the Czech development policy, was introduced in 2012 as a complement modality to the government scholarship programme. The main aim of the thesis was to identify if the project implemented in Georgia within the programme placement had contributed to capacity development in higher education and research in that region. Based on the capacity development concept it was ascertained that the project had promoted development mainly of individual capacities and to a certain extent of organisational capacities as well. Even though the system level was taken into consideration during the implementation, significant system change has not been identified. Additionally, the project...
