Bygglogistik i en regionstad : Köra hit eller köra bort? / Buildinglogistics in a region city : Take it there or take it away?

Ahlstedt, Erik January 2017 (has links)
The work is being carried out with the construction company Arcona. The aims are to evaluate and make recommendations about theirbuilding logistics solution CSL. For now, CSL is only used forprojects in Stockholm. If a need for CSL occurs in Uppsala, it willalso be introduced there. The purpose of the study is to investigate how CSL works inStockholm, what good experiences and challenges identified by theusers in Stockholm. Another purpose is to identify which partfunctions of the logistics solution that are requested by futureusers in Uppsala. To find out how the solution works today on projects in Stockholm, three qualitative interviews have been conducted. To find out aboutthe expectations of subcontractors (UE) on a logistics solution inUppsala, a qualitative interview has been conducted with asubcontractor. All interviews were then encoded to find themes andsubcategories. The conclusion is that both the subcontractor and Arcona see bothpractical and financial gains in introducing CSL in Uppsala. The mainadvantage of CSL is that it is scalable and you can choose to insertonly the sub-functions that are needed on the current project. Aservice that both sees benefits and which can be recommended is alogistics coordinator who reviews the entire logistics at theworkplace and thereby more easily identifies and solves problems.

Exploration of Compressed Sensing for Satellite Characterization

Daigo Kobayashi (8694222) 17 April 2020 (has links)
This research introduces a satellite characterization method based on its light curve by utilizing and adapting the methodology of compressed sensing. Compressed sensing is a mathematical theory, which is established in signal compression and which has recently been applied to an image reconstruction by single-pixel camera observation. In this thesis, compressed sensing in the use of single-pixel camera observations is compared with a satellite characterization via non-resolved light curves. The assumptions, limitations, and significant differences in utilizing compressed sensing for satellite characterization are discussed in detail. Assuming a reference observation can be used to estimate the so-called sensing matrix, compressed sensing enables to approximately reconstruct resolved satellite images revealing details about the specific satellite that has been observed based solely on non-resolved light curves. This has been shown explicitly in simulations. This result implies the great potential of compressed sensing in characterizing space objects that are so far away that traditional resolved imaging is not possible.

Sponsring av damidrott – Ett öppet mål? : En kvalitativ studie om sponsringskonsulters syn på sponsring av damidrott och dess marknadsfördelar / Sponsorship of women’s sport – An open goal? : A qualitative study about sponsorship consultants view on women’s sport sponsorship and its market advantages

Eriksson, Felicia, Hammerfeldt, Johanna January 2020 (has links)
There are substantial differences in how financial resources are distributed in the women’s and men’s sport, even though the number of athletes is more equally distributed between men and women. Sponsorship is a large and significant part of how these investments are distributed as the largest sponsorship efforts go to men’s sport. However, we see a knowledge gap in how market benefits can be used in sponsoring women's sports. The purpose of this study is to find out which motives companies have to sponsor or to not sponsor women's sports, discover what market advantages sponsoring women’s sport can lead to, and identify potential development areas for sponsoring women's sports. This is a qualitative study based on semi-structured interviews with experts. The results of this study reveal that CSR and exposure are the most common motives for sponsoring women's and men’s sports. Since there is now a greater pressure on a company to adopt social responsibility, it is considered to be an advantage to women's sports. Due to the high level of competition that exists in men’s sport, it is more difficult for sponsors to differentiate themselves in the marketing clutter. Sponsoring of women’s sport is then considered to be an advantage. Lastly, the findings of this study show that there is a great deal of ignorance in general about sponsorship and the sponsorship of women's sports, both in companies and also in rightsholders, which can be seen as an area of improvement.

Design of compressive antenna arrays

Laue, Heinrich Edgar Arnold January 2020 (has links)
Reduced-control antenna arrays reduce the number of controls required for beamforming while maintaining a given array aperture. A reduced-control array for direction finding (DF), inspired by the concept of compressive sensing (CS), was recently proposed which uses random compression weights for combining antenna-element signals into fewer measurements. However, this compressive array had not been studied in terms of traditional characteristics such as directivity, sidelobe level (SLL) or beamwidth. In this work, random compression weights are shown to be suboptimal and a need for the optimisation of compressive arrays is expressed. Existing codebook optimisation algorithms prove to be the best starting point for the optimisation of compressive arrays, but are computationally complex. A computationally efficient codebook optimisation algorithm is proposed to address this problem, which inspires the compressive-array optimisation algorithm to follow. Compressive antenna arrays are formulated as a generalisation of reduced-control arrays and a framework is presented for their optimisation in terms of SLL. By allowing arbitrary compression weights, compressive arrays are shown to improve on existing reduced-control techniques. A feed network consisting of interconnected couplers and fixed phase shifters is proposed, enabling the implementation of compressive arrays in microwave hardware. The practical feasibility of compressive arrays is illustrated by successfully manufacturing a 3-GHz prototype compressive array with integrated antenna elements. / Thesis (PhD)--University of Pretoria, 2020. / Electrical, Electronic and Computer Engineering / PhD / Unrestricted
