Playboy: Od erotiky k puritánství? / Playboy: From erotism to puritanism?

Jiříková, Eliška January 2021 (has links)
The main goal of the diploma thesis is to describe the development of content in Czech and American Playboy and compare them both over the years and the American and Czech versions with each other. The theoretical part of the thesis presents the development of both American and Czech Playboy and the changes that have occurred in the magazine are included in the cultural development and contemporary context of the USA and the Czech Republic. The diploma thesis seeks the causes of changes and development of the journal, in culture and society, in their changed attitudes, norms and values. At the same time, in this diploma thesis I deal with the Playboy audience and agenda setting. Three years 2010, 2015 and 2020 are selected for analysis in the practical part. As part of the quantitative content analysis, I examine which topics, articles and sections appear in the issue, which topics have disappeared or appeared over time and which part of the magazine is occupied by nudity. Using qualitative analysis, I focus on the transformation of the cover pages of Playboy magazine, the depiction of women on such cover pages and the comparison of American and Czech covers.

Neo-autoritarismus and proměna mediálních systémů ve střední a východní Evropě / Neo-authoritarianism and Media Systems Transformation in Central and Eastern Europe

Tepliakova, Mariia January 2021 (has links)
In several modern countries, media have to operate in "disabling environments" with limited journalistic freedom and judicial independence. Central and Eastern European states represent such settings to various extent, as the takeover of media regulatory organisations and decreasing media pluralism have become characteristic for this region, indicating a systemic shift. Nevertheless, the high- profile cases of Poland and Hungary could have contributed to overgeneralised conclusions regarding the nature of such transformations, attributing them to, inter alia, the rise of right-wing populism. Using the method of paired comparison, this thesis examines Poland and the Czech Republic to determine the exact mechanisms of change behind media capture in these countries. I contend that different manifestations of neo-authoritarianism in the region are responsible for manifold attacks on media independence, including sophisticated strategies of using SLAPPs, strategic lawsuits against public participation, and increasing concentration of media ownership combined with potential conflicts of interest. I conclude by suggesting directions for further research and policy-making to address media freedom on both national and European levels.

Dovolání / Extraordinary appeal

Engelmann, Jan January 2021 (has links)
1 Abstract My master's thesis is focused on analysis of extraordinary appeal in criminal procedure. Extraordinary appeal is one of extraordinary remedial measures which was introduced into the Czech Criminal Procedure Code with effect from 1 January 2002. The thesis is devided into 6 chapters and the main chapter of the thesis is focused on in-depth analysis of the grounds of an extraordinary appeal and the issue of so called extreme discrepancy. So far, the issue of so called extreme discrepancy has not yet been subject to in-depth analysis in professional literature, therefore I pay more attention to this matter. The importance of so called extreme discrepancy is significant for the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic and its decisions. It is a concept arising from the case law of the Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic, which extends the grounds of an extraordinary appeal despite the grounds laid down in the Czech Criminal Procedure Code. Based on this concept the Supreme Court of the Czech Republic is obliged not only to review questions of law but also questions of fact in cases with so called extreme discrepancy. The Constitutional Court of the Czech Republic defends this concept saying it is neccessary to keep this approach in order to respect the fair trail within the meaning of the European...

In the second part of my thesis I concentrate on the publishing concept of a free newspaper. I write about advertizing, ownership and distribution channels, as well as target groups and editorial staff. Finally in the third main part of my work I discussed the content characteristics of free dailies. I used the results from my quantitative analysis as a source of information. I came to the conclusion that free newspaper use original texts as well as press agencies sources to fill their pages, that are colorful, highly structuralized and inspired by audiovisual media. In the final part of my thesis I summarize the evolution of the market with free dailies over the past few months and I discuss the possible future development. I came to the conclusion that both...
