Analýza efektivnosti poboček cestovní kanceláře pomocí DEA modelů / Analysis of travel agency branches effectiveness with DEA models

Smrčka, Pavel January 2010 (has links)
In today's fiercely competitive environment, not only in the tourism sector, we see a rise in the need to identify the weak and strong sides of the performance of the entire branch network of a travel agency, as well as of its components, the particular branches. This problem can be approached using the process of benchmarking. This method is currently widely used to compare the similarly behaving systems and processes in all areas of human activity. Data envelopment analysis models can be used as one of the methods of benchmarking. This thesis deals first with the theoretical description of the basic models of data envelopment analysis. It then moves on to concentrate on the description of the network-based models, which are then used in the practical part of the thesis. In this last part, it compares selected travel agency branches and identifies the deficiencies in particular areas of their performance.

Assigned task was founding proper indicators, which will help the agencies to assess if and how much the inquirers fulfill the requirements laid on them. First part contains the description of known standards and biases, which occur during marketing research. Bias indicators, which were the main goal to identify and formalize, are described in the second part. These indicators can serve as a guide to expose low quality inquirers. The constituent part of this work is an example of data analysis of real project, where the construction of some of these indicators has been described. This analysis confirmed the assumption that the data analysis should be inseparable part of every marketing research project, because low quality and cheating inquirers can be exposed on its base. Results presentation and suggestions for better checking of the data obtained by the inquirers in the field can help agencies to obtain more quality data and therefore make better and more trustable conclusions of market research projects.

Prepared outputs are used in the demo application "Bargaining" and its application is showcased on the demonstrated examples. The work is divided into two main areas -- the theoretical definition of work and the analytical processing. The theory part includes available research work (resources), which will be used to characterise various thematic areas of the work - Customer Intelligence, Customer Lifetime Value, Data mining, Interactive marketing, negotiation techniques and Setting prices. Analytical processing is focused on the practical use of the acquired knowledge. It iis the calculation of selected values, their processing and application within the Bargaining process with the customer. In conclusion, all the results, reaching the goals and the recommendations for the development or modification of the solution, will be assessed. The anticipated benefit of the application is its use in the negotiation between the trader and the customer, without dropping the agreed sales price during realised business below the expenditure costs. It is about ensuring the interaction, where the customer is allowed to negotiate the price of goods but the trader ensures that the price will not result in a loss. The benefit of the solution is the support of the customer satisfaction with regards to the financial interests of the detail industry.
