[en] SEMANTIC DATA INTEGRATION WITH AN ONTOLOGY FEDERATION. / [pt] INTEGRAÇÃO SEMÂNTICA DE DADOS ATRAVÉS DE FEDERAÇÃO DE ONTOLOGIASSANDRA APARECIDA DIAS 16 October 2006 (has links)
destas bases. É necessário, então, algum nível de
integração destas. A publicação
consultas. Este processo é comumente denominado de
integração de dados. A
No
ontologia. A comunidade
[en] The WEB has spread out the use of heterogeneous
distributed databases.
Sometimes, the answer to a query demands the use of more
than one database.
Some level of integration among these databases is
desired. However, frequently,
the bases were not designed according a unique semantic
pattern. Thus, it seems
essential to relate the different data, in the respective
base, in order to provide an
adequate answer to the query. The process of building this
relationship is often
called data integration. The Data Base community has
acquired enough
knowledge to deal with this in the context of Data Base
Heterogeneous
Federation. Nowadays, there are more expressive model
descriptions, namely
ontologies. The Data Base community has also considered
ontologies as a tool to
contribute as part of a solution to the data integration
problem. The Semantic
WEB community defined alignment or merge of ontologies as
one of the possible
solutions to the some of this integration problem. This
work has the aim of using
merge of ontologies methods as a mean to define the
construction of a
Federation of ontologies as a mean to integrate source of
data. The dissertation
includes a case study written in the Protegé tool. From
this case study, a
discussion follows on the scalability and applicability of
the proposal as a feasible
technological solution for data integration.

XAP IntegrationZhu, Mingjie, Liu, Qinghua January 2006 (has links)
Abstract This bachelor thesis will present the XAP tool integration project. Apart from presenting the survey of integration techniques that includes integration models and case tool models, we have conducted a comparison of these models. Then we reason about their applicability in the XAP setting. We apply this survey into the XAP tool integration project – integrate three tools in one IDE on data level. In this IDE, the user can create a new project and use these three tools freely in the new created project. The database among them is shared.

Data Integration: Techniques and EvaluationHackl, Peter, Denk, Michaela January 2004 (has links) (PDF)
Within the DIECOFIS framework, ec3, the Division of Business
Statistics from the Vienna University of Economics and Business
Administration and ISTAT worked together to find methods to create a
comprehensive database of enterprise data required for taxation microsimulations
via integration of existing disparate enterprise data sources. This
paper provides an overview of the broad spectrum of investigated
methodology (including exact and statistical matching as well as
imputation) and related statistical quality indicators, and emphasises the
relevance of data integration, especially for official statistics, as a means of
using available information more efficiently and improving the quality of a
statistical agency's products. Finally, an outlook on an empirical study
comparing different exact matching procedures in the maintenance of
Statistics Austria's Business Register is presented.

Integrace Big Data a datového skladu / Integration of Big Data and data warehouseKiška, Vladislav January 2017 (has links)
Master thesis deals with a problem of data integration between Big Data platform and enterprise data warehouse. Main goal of this thesis is to create a complex transfer system to move data from a data warehouse to this platform using a suitable tool for this task. This system should also store and manage all metadata information about previous transfers. Theoretical part focuses on describing concepts of Big Data, brief introduction into their history and presents factors which led to need for this new approach. Next chapters describe main principles and attributes of these technologies and discuss benefits of their implementation within an enterprise. Thesis also describes technologies known as Business Intelligence, their typical use cases and their relation to Big Data. Minor chapter presents main components of Hadoop system and most popular related applications. Practical part of this work consists of implementation of a system to execute and manage transfers from traditional relation database, in this case representing a data warehouse, to cluster of a few computers running a Hadoop system. This part also includes a summary of most used applications to move data into Hadoop and a design of database metadata schema, which is used to manage these transfers and to store transfer metadata.

A study of the interactions between predisposition to mastitis and energy status during early lactationBouvier-Muller, Juliette 15 September 2017 (has links)
Intramammary infections and mastitis are a leading cause of diseases, death and production losses in dairy ruminants. Increased susceptibility to mastitis during the peripartal period has been yet widely documented. Negative energy balance is frequent in early lactation and considered as a known risk factor for mastitis. The relationship between energy balance and mastitis susceptibility however remained unclear and poorly described. The aim of my thesis was to examine the relation between a negative energy balance and susceptibility to mastitis in dairy ewes. In particular, my research works showed an enhanced susceptibility to energy restriction in mastitis-susceptible ewes.

Privacy-Preserving Data Integration in Public Health SurveillanceHu, Jun January 2011 (has links)
With widespread use of the Internet, data is often shared between organizations in B2B health care networks. Integrating data across all sources in a health care network would be useful to public health surveillance and provide a complete view of how the overall network is performing. Because of the lack of standardization for a common data model across organizations, matching identities between different locations in order to link and aggregate records is difficult. Moreover, privacy legislation controls the use of personal information, and health care data is very sensitive in nature so the protection of data privacy and prevention of personal health information leaks is more important than ever. Throughout the process of integrating data sets from different organizations, consent (explicitly or implicitly) and/or permission to use must be in place, data sets must be de-identified, and identity must be protected. Furthermore, one must ensure that combining data sets from different data sources into a single consolidated data set does not create data that may be potentially re-identified even when only summary data records are created.
In this thesis, we propose new privacy preserving data integration protocols for public health surveillance, identify a set of privacy preserving data integration patterns, and propose a supporting framework that combines a methodology and architecture with which to implement these protocols in practice. Our work is validated with two real world case studies that were developed in partnership with two different public health surveillance organizations.

Current decisional systems are modelled according to a multidimensional model which, isdedicated to on-line analysis. Their principal limitations lie in their structure, their volume andthat they do not take into account data sources and analysis needs evolution. In this thesis, wepropose a dynamic architecture for on-line analysis on-the-fly which is different fromwarehousing data in a target base with a fixed model. In our architecture, data can continue to evolve in their sources according to the activity thatthey describe. Collecting and structuring data in analysis contexts is when we want to makeanalysis. To implement this architecture, we consider a solution composed of two main parts:- The construction of a data integration system by mediation based on ontologies.- The implementation of a dispositive to building analysis contexts on-the-fly which isbased on ontologies to describe the decisional domain.

Systems biology informatics for the development and use of genome-scale metabolic modelsSwainston, Neil January 2012 (has links)
Systems biology attempts to understand biological systems through the generation of predictive models that allow the behaviour of the system to be simulated in silico. Metabolic systems biology has in recent years focused upon the reconstruction and constraint-based analysis of genome-scale metabolic networks, which provide computational and mathematical representations of the known metabolic capabilities of a given organism. This thesis initially concerns itself with the development of such metabolic networks, first considering the community-driven development of consensus networks of the metabolic functions of Saccharomyces cerevisiae. This is followed by a consideration of automated approaches to network reconstruction that can be applied to facilitate what has, until recently, been an arduous manual process. The use of such large-scale networks in the generation of dynamic kinetic models is then considered. The development of such models is dependent upon the availability of experimentally determined parameters, from omics approaches such as transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics, and from kinetic assays. A discussion of the challenges faced with developing informatics infrastructure to support the acquisition, analysis and dissemination of quantitative proteomics and enzyme kinetics data follows, along with the introduction of novel software approaches to address these issues. The requirement for integrating experimental data with kinetic models is considered, along with approaches to construct, parameterise and simulate kinetic models from the network reconstructions and experimental data discussed previously. Finally, future requirements for metabolic systems biology informatics are considered, in the context of experimental data management, modelling infrastructure, and data integration required to bridge the gap between experimental and modelling approaches.
