Towards automatic grading of SQL queries

Venkatamuniyappa, Vijay Kumar January 1900 (has links)
Master of Science / Department of Computer Science / Doina Caragea / An Introduction to Databases course involves learning the concepts of data storage, manipulation, and retrieval. Relational databases provide an ideal learning path for understanding database concepts. The Structured Query Language (SQL) is a standard language for interacting with relational database. Each database vendor implements a variation of the SQL standard. Furthermore, a particular question that asks for some data can be written in many ways, using somewhat similar or structurally different SQL queries. Evaluation of SQL queries for correctness involves the verification of the SQL syntax and semantics, as well as verification of the output of queries and the usage of correct clauses. An evaluation tool should be independent of the specific database queried, and of the nature of the queries, and should allow multiple ways of providing input and retrieving the output. In this report, we have developed an evaluation tool for SQL queries, which checks for correctness of MySQL and PostgreSQL queries with the help of a parser that can identify SQL clauses. The tool developed will act as a portal for students to test and improve their queries, and finally to submit the queries for grading. The tool minimizes the manual effort required while grading, by taking advantage of the SQL parser to check queries for correctness, provide feedback, and allow submission.

Estudo dos constituintes químicos dos óleos voláteis de espécies de Eupatorium nativas do Rio Grande do Sul e construção de banco de dados de lactonas sesquiterpênicas / Study of chemical constituents of essential oils from Eupatorium species native in Rio Grande do Sul State and framing of a sesquiterpene lactone database

Souza, Tiago Juliano Tasso de January 2014 (has links)
& Arn, E. ivifolium L., E. laevigatum Lam., E. casarettoi (B.L.Rob.) Steyerm., E. itatiayense Hieron. e E. gaudichaudianum DC. / The genus Eupatorium L. (Asteraceae) contains several species that are common in Rio Grande do Sul State and it is characterized by essential oils and other terpenic derivatives among its secondary metabolites. Through this survey, it was evaluated the chemical composition of the essential oil from eight species of Eupatorium natives to the State and their chemical composition was analysed by gas chromatogaphy coupled to mass spectrometry. The following species were studied: E. inulifolium Kunth, E. polystachyum DC, E. picturatum Malme, E. tremulum Hook. & Arn, E. ivifolium L., E. laevigatum Lam., E. casarettoi (B.L.Rob.) Steyerm., E. itatiayense Hieron. and E. gaudichaudianum DC. Volatile oils from aereal parts of E. tremulum were analysed before, during and after blooming. Multivariate analyses were employed in order to identify compounds showing significant variation between each developmental stage. Dichloromethane extracts of these same species were evaluated for sesquiterpene lactones by measuring the typical infrared absorption for lactones and applying extraction methods directed to this class of compounds. The essential oils were fractionated by CC, CC flash and MPLC, with fractions being monitored by GC/MS for isolation of unknown compounds, whose retention index and mass spectrum were not enough for identification. Using this approach a furansesquiterpene, 3-oxo-verboccidentafuran, described for the first time for Eupatorium, was isolated and identified based on NMR spectral data. Dichloromethane extracts (E. casarettoi and E. inulifolium) were also fractionated by CC flash and MPLC, fractions were monitored by GC/MS and HPLC-DAD aiming the isolation of sesquiterpene lactones One compound was isolated and its structural elucidation is ongoing. Considering difficulties faced in the process of structural elucidation of the compound isolated from the extract of E. inulifolium, even with plenty of NMR 13C data available for search, and considering that no digital database dedicated to sesquiterpene lactones was found, that gathers these data in an easily accessible and user friendly platform, we performed the transposition of a bibliographic database to a more user friendly digital format (baseada em Excel®), with enhanced data visualization and comparison, thanks to the use of graphical rather than the tabular spectral presentation usually found in the literature.

A-Z Database Discovery using Alma: Eliminate Redundancy and Simplify your Workflow

Clamon, Travis 16 June 2017 (has links)
Frustrated by having to maintain an A-Z databases list separately on our library website and in Alma/Primo, East Tennessee State University embarked on a goal to eliminate redundancy by using Alma as our primary source of metadata for eResources. This presentation will cover our entire workflow and the issues we encountered along the way. I'll first go over our process in Alma including MARC record creation, electronic collection setup, and the top level collection module. Next, I'll cover our workflow in Primo including normalization rules, scoping, and PNX display. The last section will cover the Alma API's and how they were used to sync our LibGuides A-Z list.

Bendezú Kiyán , Enrique Renato, Monjaras Flores, Álvaro Gianmarco 30 August 2020 (has links)
In recent years, the number of users browsing the internet has grown exponentially. Consequently, the amount of information handled grows disproportionately and, therefore, the handling of large volumes of information obtained from the Internet has caused major problems. Different types of databases work differently, since the performance of executing transactions suffers when dealing with different amounts of information. Among this type of varieties, relational databases, non-relationship databases and in-memory databases will be analyzed. For organizations it is very important to have an accelerated information management due to the great demand from customers and the market in general, allowing the agility of internal operation to not be diminished when it is required to manage information, and to preserve the integrity of is. However, each category of database is designed to cover different specific use cases to maintain high performance regarding data handling. The purpose of this project is to study various scenarios of the main use cases, costs, scalability and performance aspects of each database, through the development of a decision tree, in which the best option for database category according to the flow that the user decides to take. / Tesis
