Total synthesis of lavendamycin amides

Lineswala, Jayana P. January 1996 (has links)
The synthesis of 7-N-acetyldemethyllavendamycin butyl amide (47), 7-Nacetyldemethyllavendamycin isopropyl amide (48), 7-N-acetyldemethyllavendamycin amide of piperidine (49), 7-N-acetyldemethyllavendamycin amide of pyrrolidine (50), 7N-acetyldemethyllavendamycin amide of morpholine (51), demethyllavendamycin butyl amide (52), demethyllavendamycin amide of pyrrolidine (53), and demethyllavendamycin amide of morpholine (54) are described. Pictet Spengler condesation of 7-acetamido-2formylquinoline-5,8-dione (28) with tryptophan butyl amide (66), tryptophan isopropyl amide (67), tryptophan amide of piperidine (68), tryptophan amide of pyrrolidine (69), and tryptophan amide of morpholine (70) in an anisole - pyridine solution directly afforded the five lavendamycin amides 47-51. Compounds 52, 53, and 54 were obtained by hydrolysis of 47, 50, and 51 with 70% H2SO4-H20 solution.Aldehyde 28 was prepared according to the following general procedure.Nitration of 8-hydroxy-2-methylquinoline (30) yielded 8-hydroxy-2-methyl-5,7 dinitroquinoline (31). Compound 31 was then hydrogenated and acylated with acetic anhydride to yield 5,7-diacetamido-2-methyl-8-acetoxyquinoline (33). Compound 33 was oxidized by potassium dichromate to give 7-acetamido-2-methylquinoline-5,8-dione (27). Treatment of 27 with selenium dioxide in refluxing 1,4-dioxane afforded compound 28.Compounds 66, 67, 68, 69, and 70 were synthesized from compounds 61,62, 63, 64, and 65. These compounds were deprotected with ammonium formate in the presence of 10% Palladium on charcoal in methanol under an argon balloon at atmospheric pressure.Compounds 61, 62, 63, 64, and 65 were obtained from 58 with butylamine, isopropylamine, piperidine, pyrrolidine, and morpholine respectively in the presence of triethylamine under an argon balloon at atmospheric pressure.Compound 58 was synthesized by the reaction of N-carbobenzyloxytryptophan, with N-hydroxy succinimide, in the presence of N-dicyclohexylcarbodimide in dried and distilled dioxane under an argon balloon at atmospheric pressure. The structures of the novel compounds 58, 47, 48, 49, 50, 51, 52, 53, and 54 were confirmed by 1H NMR, IR, EIMS, and HRMS.The structures of protected and deprotected amides 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66, 67, 68, 69, and 70 were also confirmed by 1 H NMR and IR spectroscopy. / Department of Chemistry

Chiral phanephos derived catalysts and their application in asymmetric catalysis

Konrad, Tina Maria January 2013 (has links)
The research presented in this thesis is a project funded by the EU-network of the Marie Curie project NANO-HOST in collaboration with partner institutes. The aims of this network are to develop innovative methods for the preparation, recovery and reuse of single-site, nanostructured catalytic materials, and further on apply them in combination with specifically engineered reactors for a sustainable production process for making high value fine chemicals. One part of this project was to prepare chiral diphosphine ligands and their complexes for currently challenging reactions, such as asymmetric carbonylations (homogeneous catalysis). Catalytic studies of these chiral diphosphine ligands were carried out in asymmetric hydroxy-and alkoxy-carbonylations and hydrogenation reactions. The second part of this project was the heterogenisation of these chiral homogeneous complexes through collaborations with the network partners and furthermore their catalytic behavior was studied.

Litigation Risk and Hedging

Alkhamis, Mohammad Bader, Alkhamis, Mohammad Bader January 2016 (has links)
Firms operating in the United States face important litigation risk, yet little is known on how this risk affects financial decisions. I use a natural experiment to explore the effect of litigation risk on firms' hedging behavior. I find that firms are more likely to use financial derivatives following an exogenous increase in litigation risk. This finding is stronger in the subset of firms with higher distress costs, lower credit ratings, and higher legal concerns. My results imply that litigation risk can at least partially explain the use of financial derivatives.

Barbituric Acids. V. 5-substituted-mercapto Derivatives of 5-isoamylbarbituric Acid

Peterson, Paul Eugene 08 1900 (has links)
Since no mention has been found in the literature of any 5-substituted mercapto-5-alkyl derivatives of barbituric acid, it was thought to be of interest to prepare a series of compounds containing sulfur attached directly to the barbituric acid nucleus. 5-substituted mercapto-5-isoamylbarbituric acids were chosen as representative of barbituric acids in which the alkyl group has a fairly high molecular weight.

Syntéza cyklodextrinových derivátů za využití methoxymethylových chránících skupin / Synthesis of cyclodextrin derivatives using methoxymethyl protecting groups

Kasal, Petr January 2015 (has links)
This work deals with the use of methoxymethyl protecting group in chemistry of cyclodextrins, where this group has not been used very often so far. The work deals with development of optimal methods for introduction and for subsequent removal of the group and shows its usefulness in the preparation of new 6I -O-monosubstituted cyclodextrin derivatives, which are hard to get by standard methods. Key words: cyclodextrin derivatives, methoxymethyl group, protecting group

Účinek derivátů 2-benzylthiopyridin-4-karbothioamidu na akumulaci isoflavonoidů a flavonoidů v suspenzní kultuře Trifolium pratense L. / Effect of 2-benzylthiopyridine-4-carbothioamide derivatives on isoflavonoids and flavonoids accumulation in suspension culture of Trifolium pratense L.

Machová, Veronika January 2012 (has links)
1 Abstract Veronika Machová Effect of 2-benzylthiopyridine-4-carbothioamide derivatives on isoflavonoids and flavonoids accumulation in suspension culture of Trifolium pratense L. The paper examinate the effect of three concentration of 2-(2-fluoro-6- nitrobenzylsulfanyl) pyridine-4-carbothioamide on the production of flavonoids and isoflavonoids by the Trifolium patense L. (variety DO-8, variety Tempus). The culture were cultivated in the Gamborg nutrient media with addition of 2 mg·l-1 2,4- dichlorophenoxyacetic acid a 2 mg·l-1 6-benzylaminopurine, at the temperature of 25řC, 16-hr light/8-hr dark period. The elicited and the inspection samples underwent the photometric determination of flavonoids in accordance with the Czech Pharmacopoeia 2009 ant the determination of isoflavonoids via the HPLC method. The results show that the maximum content of flavonoids in suspension cultures of Trifolium pratense L. (variety DO-8) was caused by 48-hour elicitation by 100 µmol·l-1 solution of 2-(2-fluoro-6-nitrobenzylsulfanyl) pyridine-4-carbothioamide, when the a statistically significant increase in production was 93% compared to control cultures. The maximum content of flavonoids in variety Tempus was caused by 48-hour elicitation by 10 µmol·l-1 solution of 2-(2-fluoro-6-nitrobenzylsulfanyl) pyridine-4-...

Právní problematika operací s cennými papíry a finančními deriváty / Legal issues of transactions with securities and financial derivatives

Heringová, Eva January 2012 (has links)
Resumé Název: Právní problematika operací s cennými papíry a finančními deriváty Title: Legal issues of transactions with securities and financial derivatives Klíčová slova: deriváty, cenné papíry, kapitálový trh Key words: derivatives, securities, capital market Resume: The crucial aspect in the economic development was and still is the way of financial payments and fund raising. The historical development had a number of forms (barter, gold coins), the more modern methods led to the introduction of securities and financial derivatives. From the beginning of introducing securities and financial derivatives to the market the methods of their trading became increasingly sophisticated and thus grew the importance and need of their legal definition and assessment of their use. Given the current importance of these financial instruments, which are increasingly affecting the economic and social life of many countries, I decided to at least generally analyze this area in this thesis. My thesis primarily analyzes the regulation of securities, financial derivatives and trading with them in the Czech legal system in order to highlight the imperfections that may in practice lead to ambiguous interpretation and tries to help to eliminate these gaps. The focus of the thesis lies in the comparison of the institutional...

Moderní typy derivátů a jejich reflexe v platném právu / Modern types of derivates and their reflection in positive law

Laga, Vojtěch January 2011 (has links)
Abstract/ Modern Types of Derivatives and its Reflection in the Positive Law The purpose of my thesis is to provide an introduction to modern types of derivatives and analyze its regulation in the positive law of the Czech Republic. The reason for my research is an absence of literature on modern types of derivatives in the Czech language, as well as the fact that the legal nature of derivatives remains still unclear. The thesis is composed of four chapters. Chapter One provides an introduction into derivatives in general. It deals with the notion of derivatives and classifies them as an innovative instrument of the capital market. It also tries to analyze various definitions of derivatives, and although it concludes that there is no ideal, all-encompassing definition of derivatives, existing definitions usually give fairly good idea about what the derivatives are. Chapter One further deals with the regulation of derivatives in the Czech law (importantly, its tries to rebut an opinion that derivatives fall under the regulation of hazardous activities), it focuses on economic function of derivatives (namely hedging and speculation), it explains and justifies the division of derivatives into "classic" and "modern" or "exotic" derivatives, and finally it describes the main types of classic derivatives and its...
