Design of a family of acoustic panels that follows Kinnarps guidelines

Juárez Mejía, Gabriel, Soria de la Torre, Julián January 2019 (has links)
Development of a conceptual proposal of acoustic panels for the Swedish company Kinnarps. The project uses as main methodology Design Thinking with an user centred approach. Secondarily is influenced by the product development process of Ulrich & Eppinger and some IDEO method cards. A literature review that mainly covers acoustics with an emphasis in absorption, a market research, and user studies were performed in order to have a based foundation to create feasible concepts. Along this report is possible to see how the development of the concepts has been done, how they were generated, evolved, and evaluated. As a final result it was proposed a family of 3 different types of structures with 4 variable absorbent panels that ease the way of mounting with a magnetic attachment, and gives several compositions to the customer. It is considered that the final concept fulfils all the demands, although there are some debatable requirements like the functionality, and sustainability that require further development. The methodology and the approach chosen were considered effective tools to work with product design projects that seek an innovative result because they give an appropriate mix of exploration and selection of ideas, and relevant input obtained by the involvement of the users.

"Voksen dame"

Nyhus, Kaia Dahle January 2015 (has links)
My project “Grown Woman” is about the role, the responsibilities and the challenges of being a grown woman. I use myself as a model for study, finding familiar situations, but without being autobiographical. I use visual storytelling for researching this topic, trying to visualize a selection of situations and thereby telling the story of being this particular grown up. Up to now, I have been working as an illustrator, doing a lot of animation as well. For this project I wanted to tell the story through comics, but it ended up being a mix between a graphic novel, a picture book, a flip book and comics, being more like a series of stills from an animation. In my master thesis I try to think through the choices of this project, trying to reflect on the choices, how they worked out in the process of making this booklet as my final piece of work. Also I try to reflect on the project as a research process. It is a complex process with lots of sidetracks, failures, surprises and luck. It is not perfect. It could have been better and different. This text is about how, what and why it became the way it did and why the process ended where it ended. Under my presentation there were a lot of people who were moved and touched by this story and this figure, and it surprised me that many felt a familiarity and a resemblance to themselves in it.

Digitalisering för alla : En studie om design av parkeringsappar för äldre vuxna / Digitization for everyone : A study on the design of parking apps for older adults

Nilsson, Jens January 2019 (has links)
Digitization of parking meters is a fact and more and more of those are exchanged for payment via apps. At the same time, older adults feel worried about their ability to use apps to pay for parking. Statistics show that the number of older adults over the age of 65 increases in Sweden every year. In addition, there is an increase in both the use of smartphones and driving license holdings in the relevant group. This can lead to more older adults that must be able to adapt to the digitized parking system. However, previous research shows that app developers do not customize their apps for older adults, although the measures to streamline the usage of apps are usually uncomplicated. Research also shows that more studies investigating solutions to how the design should be formed for a better universal design are needed. Therefore, the purpose of this thesis is to investigate how parking apps can be visually adapted to facilitate use for older adults between the ages of 65 and 75 in Sweden, in accordance with previous research and empirical data. Thus, the question was formulated "how can parking apps be designed for older adults between 65 and 75 years of age for good usability?" which should be answered using the study. To investigate this, the study focused on the EasyPark parking app. The study began with a feasibility study that included the methods of observation and interview. With data from the feasibility study and design guidelines in the field of informatics, a design proposal was designed which was evaluated with user test and interview. The result of the study shows four main visual measures: adaptation of text size, design, navigation and colour contrast plus a functional measure which is a guide that shows how the app works.

Innovation in Eastern and Western societies: A qualitative analysis of Startup Weekend events in Sweden and Taiwan

Wijbrands, Koenraad January 2019 (has links)
Innovation contests have become a fruitful strategy to strive for innovation over the last decades. This study takes place in the context of an open access innovation contest in Sweden and Taiwan. Prior research shows a difference in the number of projects that continues after the event. Therefore, this research aims to find out how these events are organised and facilitated. A review of existing literature on project success identified four key areas of success and an ethnographic study that included the observation of project teams during innovation contests in Taipei and Stockholm showed that local adaption of the format contributes to the outcome of the event.
