Monitoring Bulbulderesi And Bakacak Landslides With Photogrammetric Techniques

Muratoglu, Bukay 01 June 2009 (has links) (PDF)
Every year, thousands of people all over the world are loosing their lives in natural disasters. As a second most widespread hazard, landslides are still a disaster problem for Turkey. The long-term monitoring studies of instability phenomena have a paramount importance for Turkey to reduce its both direct and indirect effects. The objective of this thesis is to monitor the activity of the B&uuml / lb&uuml / lderesi and Bakacak landslides in Asarsuyu Catchment for 42 years period by the digital aerial photogrammetric techniques while evaluating the possible use of archive aerial photography in such analysis. To achieve the purpose of the study an orthophoto map was generated by aerial photographs belonging to 1994 year. The orthophoto map was utilized as a base map for aerial photo interpretation of different sets of aerial photographs corresponding to 1952, 1972, 1984 and 1994 years. As a result of this, 4 landslide activity maps are obtained. In addition, the characteristics of these landslides are analyzed by utilizing digital elevation model (DEM) created from stereo photographs of 1994. As a result of the study, no considerable variation is detected in the position of main boundaries of B&uuml / lb&uuml / lderesi and Bakacak landslides except some minor differences. However, within the landslides many topographical changes were observed between 1952 and 1994 period. Based on the profiles from toe to crest of the B&uuml / lb&uuml / lderesi landslide, the approximate length was measured as 4773m whereas the approximate width was about 2614m. The areal extent was calculated as ~12km2 having an approximate slope gradient ranging between 10-15&deg / with local variations. On the other hand, the approximate length of Bakacak landslide was 4420m and the approximate width was 832m from toe to crest with an area of ~4km2 and with an approximate slope angle 9-14&deg / .

Photogrammetrische Erfassung der Verformungs- und Rissentwicklung bei baumechanischen Untersuchungen / Application of photogrammetry for measuring deformations and cracks during load tests in civil engineering material testing

Hampel, Uwe 17 June 2008 (has links) (PDF)
Methods of digital close range photogrammetry are a useful tool for the measurement of three-dimensional objects in civil engineering material testing. They are generally suitable for automatic measurements with chronological synchronism of object-surfaces during short and long time load tests in laboratories and in situ. The methods provide an opportunity for measuring deformations, cracks and damages at the object-surfaces during load tests in civil engineering material testing. These possibilities can present new results for a lot of applications in civil engineering material testing. Displacement and deformation measurements still rely on wire strain gauges or inductive displacement transducers. However, they are not suitable for a large number of measurement points or the detection of cracks during load tests. First of all, a number of systematic investigations was conducted. This was necessary to identify capable methods of the digital photogrammetry for the measuring of deformations, cracks and damages at object-surfaces during load tests in civil engineering material testing. These investigations laid the foundation for practical measurements during short and long time load tests of samples and constructions from different parts of the civil engineering (e.g. timber construction, solid structure, stell and road construction). The application-oriented research in civil engineering material testing demonstrates the wide range of demands on systems and methods of digital close range photogrammetry have to meet. Often the methods and systems of digital close range photogrammetry had to be modified or developed. In this context the systematic analysis of relevant determining factors was started. The results demonstrate that the methods and systems of digital close range photogrammetry are a suitable and flexible tool for the measurement of deformations, cracks and damages at the object-surfaces in civil engineering material testing. In addition, the special experiments in civil engineering material testing demonstrate the high requirements laid upon methods and systems of the digital closed range photogrammetry, for instance regarding with the measurement resolution/range and robustness processes. This was the motivation to optimize and to develop methods and systems for the special measurement tasks in civil engineering material testing, for instance a 2.5D measurement technique based on the Dynamic Projective Transformation (DPT) or the use of mirrors. Also a special measurement target was developed. This type of measurement target modifies intensities and is ideal for high deformation measurements (1/100 pixel). The large number of points in conjunction with area-based measurements require time-optimized methods for the analysis process. The modified and developed methods/programs enable fast analysis-processes, e.g. in conjunction with point-matching process 60.000 points per second. The developed crack-detection-methods allow area- and profile-based to analyze the load-dependent position and width of cracks, e.g. cracks > 3 µm (100 mm x 100 mm). A main target of this work was to compile all relevant determining factors regarding the application of the digital close range photogrammetry during load tests in civil engineering material testing. To a large extent, this target was reached. However, the compilation of all relevant determining factors requires a special experimental set-up. This experimental set-up was developed. In the future, it may enable the automatic research of all significant determining factors. The results can be used to qualify or optimize the established methods and processes. Also it's possible that the results generates new measurement processes.

Since the advent of the first Remote Sensing satellites, many studies have been developed with the intention of using the images produced by these sensors for cartographic purpose. Although these images of the average resolution do not possess the accuracy required for cartographic applications in big scales, their advantages include being multispectral, periodic repetition of acquisition, and lower cost when compared to images obtained through traditional aerial photogrammetric surveys. An improvement present in medium and high resolution satellites is their off nadir capacity, which allows 3D reconstruction based on stereoscopy, the generation of digital elevation models (DEM) and the production of orthorectified images, among others products. With the first stereoscopic pairs acquired by the CBERS-2 (2004) HR-CCD (High Resolution Charge-Coupled Device) sensor, the possibility now exists of realizing studies whose goal is generating cartographic products from these stereo pairs. Within this context, this work evaluated the geometric quality of a CBERS-2 HR-CCD stereo pair making use of the DLT (Direct Linear Transformation) mathematical model and Polynomial-Based Pushbroom model, available from the Leica Photogrammetry Suite (LPS) digital photogrammetry system by Leica Geosystems, classifying them in accordance with the Cartographic Accuracy Standards... Možnosti vytvoření mračna bodů a síťového modelu místa dopravní nehody z fotografií / Possibilities of Point Cloud and Mesh Model Creation of Accident Site Using Photographs

Mojžyšek, Tomáš January 2019 (has links)
The thesis focuses on creating point cloud and mesh model of chosen intersections and their applications in forensic-engineering praxis. In the first part, we describe a workflow for creating point cloud and mesh model of intersection by digital photogrammetry. In the second part, we applied these at chosen intersections. Which leads us to the comparison of three digital photogrammetric programs which we used to make point clouds and mesh models. At the end of thesis, we use our mesh models in forensic-engineering praxis and we decide about barriers in sign conditions at intersections.

Larsson, Alexander, Oscarsson, Olle January 2020 (has links)
UAVs (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) or drones are commonly used for collecting spatial data and aerial images by companies, state agencies and civilians. The UAV techniques makes collection of geodata easier for large areas and can be used for mapping, 3D modelling and other analyses, e.g. for volume determination. The aim of this study was to compare 3D point clouds generated from airborne laser scanning and digital photogrammetry for detecting heights of trees. It was also investigated which method produced the most reliable results and if these were applicable for detecting risk trees. The definition of risk trees in this study are trees that run the potential risk of damaging important infrastructure such as electric power transmission lines. Nowadays the collection of data is mainly conducted using helicopters for identifying the risk trees, but with UAV technologies costs can be significantly reduced. The collection of data was performed over a sparse coniferous forest area in Gävle, Sweden. Laser data was collected using a YellowScan LiDAR (Light Detection and Ranging) sensor mounted on a drone. For the photogrammetric data, a DJI Phantom 4 RTK (Real Time Kinematic) drone was used with its standard camera. Both techniques were directly georeferenced using Single station RTK and SWEPOS Network RTK respectively. To check the quality of the collected data, six control profiles were established using a total station. These measurements were then compared to the generated point clouds. Our results show that the mean deviation and standard deviation in height between LiDAR point clouds and the control profiles are -0,038 m and 0,049 m, respectively. The mean deviation and standard deviation for photogrammetric point clouds and control profiles are +0,060 m and 0.090 m, respectively. These values were then compared to the requirements in SIS-TS 21144:2016. To determine absolute tree heights, ten random trees were measured using a total station. The coordinates of the highest and lowest points of each tree were then subtracted to serve as absolute height values. The comparison of the two UAV methods showed mean height deviations of   -0,325 m for LiDAR and -0,928 m for the photogrammetry. This study concludes that LiDAR is the most suitable technology of the two methods tested for detecting tree heights and creating canopy height models. This is based on the obtained height values, the quality of the digital terrain model and the good distribution of points in plane and height for the point cloud.

Medição de vibrações estruturais e de sistemas rotativos utilizando imagens fotográficas subamostradas / Measurement of vibration in structural and rotating systems using sub-sampled photographic images

Endo, Marcos Tan 29 November 2013 (has links)
The analysis of vibrations in structural and rotating systems allows the detection of undesirable problems, such as the structural fatigue and excessive wear, which contribute to the reduction of the useful life of the systems and their components. Traditionally, the measurement of vibrations is carried out by contacting sensors (accelerometers and strain gauges), which have the inconvenience of adding mass into the system. Alternativelly, there are the non-contacting sensors (LVD and ESPI), which are high cost equipments. This work aims at developing a low cost equipment that carry out multi-point non-contact measurements of the vibratory behavior of structures and rotating shafts. The proposed method uses as a basis the principles of photogrammetry together with sub-sampling techniques, which are used in structure or machines with known vibration frequencies (e.g rotating machines). The methodology was initially applied on a cantilever beam, periodically excited by an electrodynamic shaker and later in a rotating system mounted on a test bench. The feasibility of using the method was verified comparing the results obtained with measurements from a laser Doppler vibrometer, in the case of the structural system, and with inductive proximity sensors in the rotating shaft vibration. Based on the comparison analysis, one observes that this method can be perfectly used in vibration measurements in structural and rotating systems even with limitations in resolution as well as in operational modal analysis of structures.

This thesis presents a study on methods and low-cost techniques for historic sites surveys, it starts with the concepts of culture heritage and the first international recommendations for conservation and restoration of monuments, this study discussed about the evolution of the concern for the protection of property in Brazil and the various inventories already made. It presented the survey technologies for architectural documentation based on images with emphasis on Digital Photogrammetry, the concepts and processes involved the requirements and guidelines for photogrammetric surveys and the main photogrammetric software used to restitution. The survey also addressed the problem of features extraction from digital images, discussing the concepts and processing steps. The practical part presents some case studies that allowed to the apprehending and also the testing of three tools (PhotoModeler, Orthoware and Sphera package), as a way to assess quality, limits and potential to generate products as orthophotos, ortofotomosaico and facades restitution drawings, which were used as data source for generating geometric models. Still, experiments for automatic feature extraction were performed (automatic vectorization) of images in order to facilitate the process of vectorization from orthophotos. Digital Photogrammetry proved to be a handy low-cost tool, which meets the existing demand for documentation, as quickly and accurately as possible, but in order to make this possible is necessary to know the different techniques, the definition of the desired products and existing survey methods to select the most appropriate technique.
