Pedro Luiz Santos Serra 01 October 1992 (has links)

Manoel José Pereira Neto 01 July 1991 (has links)

Airplane pilot coupling: a review of the state-of-the-art knowledge with focus in flight test.

Maurício Faustino Oliveira 09 July 2004 (has links)
Airplane-Pilot Coupling (APC) is the current denomination of unwanted dynamic couplings between the airplane an pilot that can occur in specific circunstance, leading to instability an otherwise stable system. APC events can be non-oscillatory but the most common are oscillatory, commonly called Pilot-Involved Oscillations (PIO). Most of the previous and on going researches have tried to understand, predict and avoid APC events. Understanding is based in many studies that include analyses of real cases of APC, interpretation of pilot plus airplane as a closed-loop system and classification of APC events according to characteristics like degree of nonlinearity or frequency and amplitude of the oscillations. Prediction is based in analytical criteria; many of them are currently under development. Such criteria are intended to be applied during airplane design in order to decide whether determined configuration is (or is not) susceptible to APC events. Avoidance is based in the combination of concepts resulting from correct understanding of the APC phenomenon with application of appropriated prediction criteria. This combination should make it possible to develop a good design. But this is not sufficient to guarantee a very low possibility of an APC event occur during the airplane operacional life. Therefore, to complement the avoidance process it is necessary to plan and to perform a specific flight test program. This text is an effort that attempts to cover the most import APC related points, named undestanding, prediction and avoidance. However, the focus of the present text is in the third point. More specifically, the main goal of text is to propose a methodology - including specialized maneuvers - to conduct a flight test program dedicated to APC. This is done in a way that a methodology constituted by three phases is proposed. In the first phase only low bandwidth handling qualities* at safe concitions, are tested. This phase can be understood as a "familiarization" testing. In the second phase the high bandwidth handling qualities* are tested, always using tracking manueuvers, that require the evaluation pilot to drive the airplane to track an specific signal as aggressively and assiduously as possible. In the third phase pilots must conduct evaluation of the airplane handling qualities during situations. Complementing the maneuvers performed during the flight test program above mentioned, it is necessary to apply suitable tools in order to "measure" the APC susceptibility of the tested airplane. In this text the current main tools are described. They are basically pilot comments, rating scales (that are based pilot opinion) and frequency domain data analyses (that are based in the obtainment of the frequency response from test data).

Integrated structural/control optimization of a large space structure with articulation subject to the gravity-gradient torque.

Ijar Milagre da Fonseca 00 December 1998 (has links)
Optimization has been playing a very important role in the orbit and attitude control, and structural design of spacecraft since the advent of the space era. It is well known that weight, space, energy, and time are among the most important constraints that guide the space missions planning. the optimization has a wide field of applications even if only the space area is considered. In this work the focus is on the structural and control optimization of Large Space Structures (LSS). the structural and the control optimization are separete disciplines that have had application in space missions since the early days of the space era. However the integrated problem is recent. The terminology "Integrated" here stands for an optimization process that takes into account simultaneously aspects of both areas: Structures and Control. The main goal of this new field in space sciences is to obtain an optimal integrated system under the point of view of the Structure and Control disciplines. In this sense this approach creates a necessary bridge between structural and control groups for they have been working separately and facing integration problems during the whole history of the space conquest mainly when the spacecraft is large and has a complex structural configuration. In the case treated here the optimization aims to obtain the minimum weight of a structure while satisfying constraints involving frequencies, control damping and weight of structural appendages. The control is designed together with the structure to damp the structural vibration and pitch motion (attitude control). the gravity-gradient is considered as a source of external torque, characterizing the space environment. One of the strongest challenges to solve the integrated structural/control optimization problem is that of software integration. If computer codes are to be developed they must have structural and control optimization capabilities and which may be by itself a separate problem. The idea that has guided this work is the use of existing software. In this way no computational packages have to be built. However the difficulty of integrating existing software must be considered before embarking in such a comprehensive task. In this research the ORACLS (Optimal Regulator Algorithms for the Control of Linear Systems) software was chosen from the control side. From the structural area the NEWSUMT-A (New Sequential Unconstrained Minimization Technique) and OPT (OPTmization) computer programs were chosen. MATLAB (MATrix LABoratory) software has also been used for the control of the transient phase. The linear quadratic regulator (LQR) technique was used to solve the vibration and control problem while the sequential unconstrained minimization techniques (SUMT) were used to attack the structural part of the problem. This means that the SUMT and the LQR (Linear Quadratic Regulator) were used simultaneously through two integrated computer programs to solve the structural and control problem. The Generalized Reduced Gradient method (GRG) has also been used in conjunction with the LQR to solve a more simplified version of the Large Space Structure treated here. In this research the integrated structural/control method is used to optimally design a Large Space Structural system with and without articulation subject to the gravity-gradient. The result demonstrates that it is possible that the control area consideration may impose some restrictions on the structural design if integrated software can work to solve the problem. The improvements in the weight an control efforts are significant as compared with the original (non-optimal) design. However, the computer cost to solve problems with large numbers of design variables and constraints must be balanced; otherwise the problem solution may become prohibitive under cost aspects. That is, an optimal integrated system under the structural and control consideration may have a solution cost which is not et all optimal.

Desempenho ótimo de aviões voando em "wind-shear"

José Luiz Rocha Belderrain 01 December 1991 (has links)

Flávio Luiz Cardoso Ribeiro 18 November 2011 (has links)

Beluzo, Carlos Eduardo 27 April 2006 (has links)
Flight simulators have been an important tool for pilots training and for flight analyses, without having to spend a high quantity of money, saving gas and prevent accidents. Because of this, the demand for flight simulators has increased both in industry and in research centers. With the objective of in future build a flight simulator, a project to develop a software that is able to simulate the dynamics of flight of a flying aircraft was developed. The SIMAERO software was developed using C++ and its principal functionality is to simulate the dynamics of flight of an aircraft. This simulation basically is the solution of the system of motion equations of the aircraft, using the mathematical model described by ETKIN & REID, et al (1996). The mathematical model is solved using the 4th order Runge-Kutta numeric integration method, as presented in CONTE (1977). For the simulation, the geometric data, the aerodynamic data, and the dimensional derivates are passed to the software as input arguments. The results of the simulations are displayed as cartesians graphics and recorded as data files. The graphics are useful for visual analyses of the aircraft behavior, and the file, with the results of the simulation, can be used as input data for ground based simulator, for example. In this work, the development of the software SIMAERO will be presented, and then some results of the simulation of one aircraft will be shown.

Redes neurais artificiais na predição de respostas e estimação de derivadas aerodinâmicas de aeronaves / Artificial neural networks for prediction of responses and estimation of aerodynamic derivatives of aircraft

The area of aircraft dynamics has reached a high level of development and due to the increasing availability of computers continuously faster and with bigger processing capacity, the application of numerical identification techniques in this area also had great advance. This work presents two methodologies, one for prediction of aircraft responses within a pre-established flight envelope using recurrent neural networks and another one for estimation of its aerodynamic derivatives using feedforward neural networks. To get data sets to train the neural networks, a combat aircraft flight dynamics non-linear model was implemented and simulated in nine points of the flight envelope to obtain its behavior. The simulated responses corresponding to a four points of the flight envelope were used to train the neural network and after that, it was possible to verify that this net satisfactorily captured the dynamics of the aircraft, identifying with great success the longitudinal motion responses of the aircraft at all the considered flight envelope positions. After the simulation and identification of the aircraft responses inside the flight envelope, the solution of the inverse problem is presented, i.e., using scalar and angular aircraft velocities together with its geometric data as input to the feedforward neural network, a neural estimator model of aerodynamic derivatives is obtained. In order to show the capacity of this neural estimator model, this model is applied to the estimation of the derivatives of the simulated aircraft as well as to the estimation of the aerodynamic derivatives of a brazilian air force military jet aircraft, the Xavante AT-26. These proposed methodologies reduce the cost of obtaining the aerodynamic derivatives and show the estimation effectiveness of the neural networks to estimate the responses of an aircraft inside a pre-defined flight envelope.
