'n Ouerbegeleidingsprogram met die adolessent as vennoot

02 March 2015 (has links)
M.A. / From both a practical and a theoretical viewpoint, it seemed necessary to formulate a parent education programme that highlighted in terms of content both the needs and developmental tasks of the adolescent. In order to confirm the content on the process level of this programme, it was important for the adolescent to be involved in the presentation of the programme. The purpose of the research was therefore to formulate and evaluate a parent education programme with the adolescent as partner. The assumption was made that the programme would be more effective, should the adolescent be involved in the presentation thereof, than should the mother be the sole participant. The programme that was formulated for this research is an integration of several approaches to parent education. Relevant information with regard to the developmental stages of both parent and adolescent was included in the programme. Specific importance was however placed on the parent-adolescent relationship and on communication skills •. A single subject research design was used to evaluate the programme. Two middle aged mothers and their two adolescent daughters were used as subjects. In the case of the experimental sample, both mother and daughter attended the programme. The control sample, however, was only represented by the mother's participation in the parent education programme. Target behaviours were defined in operational terms for the research in order to make possible the objective observation thereof. Each person's target behaviours were seperately observed, but the comparison of the two mothers' behaviours, as well as that of the daughters, was made possible by graphic representations.

Teenagers' Attitudes Toward Early Parenting

Reynolds-Hromadka, Johnny Sue. 12 1900 (has links)
The problem of this study was to determine the attitudes of teenagers toward early parenting. A fifty-two item questionnaire was given to 253 students enrolled in Homemaking I, Homemaking II, or Home and Family Living classes. Data are reported in five sections: teenagers' (1) attitudes about early parenting, (2) perceptions of child abuse and neglect, (3) beliefs about disciplining and punishment, (4) preparation for parenting skills, and (5) attitudes toward parenting education classes. Different results were obtained on measures of race, sex, and grade levels. Very few differences in attitudes were identified between ethnic groups and grade levels. Males and females differed in attitudes toward birth control and parenting tasks.

'n Psigo opvoedkundige perspektief oor die hantering van leerders se onbeheerbare gedrag

Schoeman, Sandra 15 August 2012 (has links)
M.Ed. / Unruly behaviour in schools are becoming more of a problem each day. As an educator I am finding it difficult to teach and control the classes. Handling and controlling the classes are sometimes very difficult, because people are complex. According to Carl Rogers' person-centered theory one should rather concentrate on the person as a unique individual. Some educators focus on the bad behaviour of learners and not on the person as a whole. In this study the focus is on the experiences of the adolescents in the handling of unruly behaviour by the educators in the school. This was a qualitative study. Interviews were be conducted with adolescents between the ages of 13 -17 years. A sample group was purposively selected on the basis of adolescents showing unruly behaviour. The interviews were audiotaped and transcribed and data were analysed according to Tesch's method of analysis. All ethical measures were adhered to and discussed in greater detail in the study. A clean set of data were given to an external coder to be analysed. A consensus interview was held so that corresponding, different and unique themes within the data could be found. After the themes were discussed guidelines were set according to these themes. Themes that were found after data saturation were: Learners and educators treat each other with• disrespect. Educators do not handle unruly behaviour in a consistent manner and are not strict enough. According to these themes guidelines were set. Both the themes and guidelines were verified in the appropriate literature. Limitations and recommendations for further studies were also discussed.

The aim of the study was to identify the need for alternative disciplinary measures for the learning disabled adolescent, and to formulate guidelines for the implementation thereof. At present, the sensitive issue of discipline and punishment is left to the discretion of the individual teacher, who may not always be fully conversant with the new approach to alternative disciplinary measures. A theoretical investigation emphasised the importance of the unique personatity traits of the learning diSabled adolescent that should be considered when disciplinary measures are applied. An empirical investigation was carried out by means of a questionnaire at six special schools in the Gauteng Province. The empirical study confirmed that teachers at these schools do need alternative disciplinary measures for the learning disabled adolescent Based on the literature study and the results of the empirical investigation, guidelines were formulated for alternative disciplinary measures for the learning disabled adolescent. / Educational Studies / M.Ed. Maternal and alloparental discipline in Atlantic spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) in the Bahamas

Unknown Date (has links)
Discipline was implemented by mothers and alloparent spotted dolphins (Stenella frontalis) mothers and alloparents on Little Bahama Bank, Bahamas. Disciplinarians were significantly more likely to be adults than juveniles. Although most disciplinarians were female, males were also observed to perform discipline. The recipients of discipline were male and female, and significantly more likely to be calves than juveniles. Pursuit, contact, and display behaviors were used in discipline, however pursuit behaviors were most often observed. Variables such as age class, sex, and parity were not found to influence how discipline was implemented. The durations of all disciplinary pursuits were under thirty seconds, and successful pursuits had slightly shorter duration than unsuccessful pursuits. Disciplinarian success was not significantly influenced by age class, sex, parity, or behavior used. / by Meghan Weinpress. / Thesis (M.S.)--Florida Atlantic University, 2013. / Includes bibliography. / Mode of access: World Wide Web. / System requirements: Adobe Reader.
